you people are dumb why not screw with the show have fez and jackie get together?? (not fez and kelso) most of the polls are about the last season so its ok the simpsons have had 13 years without a joke, the movie makes me sick so why not end on different high notes? there was only a weird season the simpsons have had a long time without a joke, count your blessings, your master destroyer of fire: fire destroyer
I must say, this show is actually good all the way through. I say this because I see Season 8 as a spin-off. Eric, Hyde and Kelso were my favorite characters, and losing two of them was lame. Leo tried to replace Kelso, but it's not possible. I think if Leo had been a main character throughout the whole series, it would've been good. Randy Pearson is an attempt to replace Eric, but he is too clean-cut. Eric's relationship with his parents, one of the funnier realistic facets of this show, was completely excised. While I like it, I have to admit this show jumped the shark hard.
That 70's Shows Character Arcs:
1. Eric/Donna.
2. Hyde/Jackie.
3. Kelso/Fez.
Oh my God this fits.
Topher and Ashton left after the 7th season and the Eric/Donna and the Kelso/Fez Character Arcs is broken by this. so the writer decide to brake Hyde/jackie too because the main Character Arc is broken. the main Character Arc in the 8th season is change to this.
That 70's Shows 8th season Character Arcs:
1. Donna/Randy.
2. Hyde/Samantha.
3. Fez/Jackie.
Then in THAT 70's FINALE, Topher and Ashton return as eric and Kelso. So the first That 70's Shows Character Arcs Return. In THAT 70's FINALE, we see the return of the Eric/Donna arc and a little of the Kelso/Fez arc returning.
So one can guess in the not seen future of the Characters that the re-coupling of Hyde/Jackie will happens.
one can guess the Character Arcs after the show to return to it's classic state.
That 70's Shows Character Arcs POST THAT 70's FINALE:
1. Eric/Donna.
2. Hyde/Jackie.
3. Kelso/Fez.
To me the show jump the shark but, the last show leaves an unseen future in which the show returns from jumping the shark.
1. Eric/Donna.

The show jump the shark when they broke The Character Arcs.
The Eric/Donna Arc was broken in season 4 and never was the same afterwards.
The Hyde/Jackie Arc was broken forever at the end of season 7.
I never thought Fez and Kelso were gay characters before they know they are gay, but after reading this board and the post of people who saw it,
now I can see it.
jack walker wrote: "Damn the writers and crew for not going thru with the Fez and Kelso thing."
But, I have watch all the seasons on DVD and The Kelso/Fez Arc is the only one which stays.
Kelso/Fez is in the first show to the last show.
-------------
From THAT 70's FINALE:
FEZ: It's so good to see you (he hugs him again)
KELSO: Did you just kiss my ear?
FEZ: A little
KELSO: I liked it
AND
Fez rewrite THE WATER TOWER to say Michael + Fez
(sigmund freud would have a field day with this one)
----------------
Kelso and Fez had allot of Freudian slips about their gay sexual desires.
I think the writers of That 70's show made the last show open ended.
THE FUTURE: THE 1980's
Eric and donna more likely get married in the 80's.
Jackie and Fez more likely break up in the 80's.
Hyde and Jackie more likely get back together and get married in the 80's.
Kelso and Fez more likely come out and get together in the 80's.

I agree with one commenter about all the wasted potential of the show. There were so many things the writers could have done to make the show better but it didn't and for it the show died a miserable and painful death. I think the JTS moment was when Eric and Donna decided not to get married. It just took the air out of it for me and it got even worse when Hyde and Jackie split up. The last season was so bad it's not even worth mentioning. It's just sad that it had to end so horribly.
IT JUMPED THE SHARK AFTER THE FIRST EPOSODE THIS WAS A PHONY SHOW WITH PLENTY OF BAD ACTING IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED ONLY SIX MONTHS LIFE IN THE SUBURBS OF WISCONSIN IN THE SEVENTIES? BIG DEAL
Loved the show, but the last season was a joke. The worst thing was that Jackie/Hyde had became an even more popular pairing than the front-burner couple (Eric/Donna) yet the opinions of a vast multitude of fans meant nothing to them, and they actually had Jackie end up with Fez. That was ridiculous, and pretty much a slap in the face to the waelth of Jackie/Hyde fans.
I read in an Internet article several months back that even Danny Masterson (Hyde) had admitted to being dumbfounded at the writing decison, as he and Mila had always thought Jackie/Hyde was an 'end-game' couple. He claims to still be a 'Jackie/Hyde' supporter to this day! So cute!

To me, the big JTS moment was when Hyde married the stripper !! What the H wass that all about?
It ripped the guts out of the Jackie-Hyde story line, which had good potential.
The other JTS moment was when Lisa Robin Kelly left (actually was fired from) the show. From what I've read, it was justifiable, but still was a JTS moment

I liked That 70's Show Seasons 1-7. We had a nice drinking game to go with the episodes.
But seriously, There were alot of episodes I didn't care for. Season 4 was the 2nd worse season for me. I didn't like when Kitty started talking smack to Eric, I never felt it was necessary for her to do so. Eric's obsession with Star Wars never made since to me. After all the episode they saw that movie Kelso was the one who wouldn't stop talking about it.Leo's character was alot better then Roy's. Tommy Chong rocks, by the way. Midge was the best love interest for Bob. It's sad that her real husband took ill and she had to leave the show. Lisa Robin Kelly was the only "Laurie" I will acknowledge. Last but not least, season 8 was the worst season for me. All in all it was a good show and majority of the episode make me laugh. It is really hard to find good sitcoms now days. Especially, in the vast sea of reality tv and Million dollar game shows.

It jumped in season seven, when Mila Kunis stopped wearing pantyhose. What's wrong with that girl, anyway???
Maybe this has all ready been mentioned, since I didn't read all the post, but it began to jump the shark, after the episode where Fez had the Jump the Shark flashback (the Happy Days episode).
After that, the writers added all the Jump the Shark ingredients to the show.
1.They did it!--everyone
2.They graduated school.
3.Kelso's baby.
4.Changing characters--Laurie
5.Singing episodes--The musical show
6.Hair care--Donna's hair
7.Replacing the main character with a new kid on the block--Randy.
There may be more--I don't have time to really think about it--but I thought they were doing a lot of it on purpose to just push the envelope

I have to agree with most of the comments in the last post with a few notable exceptions.
> Donna going blonde. I thought that was a good thing. It breathed new life and "hotness" into her character.
> Steven (Hyde) as bi-racial seemed like a wierd plot twist but it worked for what it was. Hyde could easily have been half-black due to the texture of his hair. I should know, I have white skin and very curly hair like Hyde and I am black.
> I don't think Fez was gay or bi or whatever. He was effeminate in many ways but so are a lot of fully heterosexual guys. But in context of the show, I doubt they would have ever fully taken it in that direction. Not because it was too controversial, just because the revelation of that fact would have killed the chemistry the six friends shared. Imagine, Fez goes out on a date with the Fenton character... Ugh! No offense to the gays, but that plot twist would only appeal to a very limited number of people so as a result... it was never done.
> I think Kelso becoming a father and a cop was perfect actually but the writers wasted these story lines for the most part. Instead of expanding his relationship with Brooke (the pregnant girl) into a full "odd-couple" funny relationship, they squandered that opportunity. Also, Kelso as a cop who finally learns about life and responsibility would have been a great story line.
I could have seen a plot where Kelso as a cop has to shot and kill a mugger who is attacking Red Foreman. At that moment he has to grow up fast and become a man who is truly responsible for his own actions. As they are sitting there waiting for the fellow officers to arrive, Kelso is freaking out but Red comforts him (rare for Red). Red and Kelso now share something in common. Red as a veteran has killed before, and now as a cop so has Kelso.. A newfound level of respect is formed. Sometimes its good to put just a little seriousness in the sitcom to make the funny parts that much more real and delightful.
Also, I felt that they had a golden opportunity that they wasted when Fez hooked up with Eric's sister and got married. I would have rather seen them stick together and Erics sister actually falling in love with him in her own dingbat way. This would have forced Red Foreman to finally accept Fez the "foreigner" as a family member, a real personality leap for Red. And whereas Red and Kitty have both admitted to themselves privately that when Laurie (Erics sister) gets married the guy will be "no Rockefeller" at some point Red has to admit that by marrying Fez, Laurie could have done worse. Acceptance... and along the way a few laughs.
And as far as Hyde and Jackie go, they could have built up their backstory a bit by Hyde getting a much bigger role (and salary) in his fathers company and to his chagrin he becomes the corporate man he has tried to avoid becoming his whole "fight the power" life, and Jackie is secretly delighted in the changes she sees in him.
And on another note I wholeheartedly agree that Charlie and Randy just made the show suck that much more in season 8. If they wanted to craft a season 8 around Eric not being there, I could have seen better ways of doing it. Rather than Eric leaving for Africa, he should have gotten a high paying job in another country with the promise that after he had saved enough money he would return to Donna to be together with her as they had planned. And since they knew that Topher was not going to be there for season 8, they should have filmed several future scenes that could be used as plot filler for him in season 8, or simply negotiated for him to return more than once (the final episode) during that final season. Bottom line is, there are so many things they could have done to give the other characters more weight and screen time and just didn't do it. What a waste.
One thing about That 70's Show, the show was one of my favorites but also disappointed me in so many ways. I have all these "potential" storylines in my head, that will never be....

overall, i'd say it was a super good television show. however, it just didn't work at all once the characters graduated high school. basically, it was fun to watch because it was about funny, sweet, attractive kids in a different era that gave it a unique, kitschy vibe. when they were no longer kids the youthful type of humor the show always had wasn't relevant and they just seemed too old for the ridiculous scenarios. but it might have been okay if they had all gone to college together or something.
for me, the turning point was when the original laurie split. the character was hilarious and perfectly cast, so when they replaced her it was just way obnoxious. after season six the show took on this drastically different direction that mostly just felt random. taking the year off and then going to africa seemed really unfitting and out of place for eric. and the whole steven being bi-racial thing was just awful. donna shouldn't have gone blond and kelso shouldn't have become a father or a cop. jackie and hyde should have just consistently stayed together because all of the switching partners and on again off again stuff just gets redundant, and they were a great couple. and fez should have come out as bi. because he just was. charlie and randy were awful characters and continuing the show without eric absolutely killed it.

About a year ago I saw an interview in a magazine with Topher Grace. He was saying "To all of the girls who didn't date me in high school, Boo Hoo!" "They didn't consider me dating material. I could name names. You could have had me. Now you have nothing!" What an arrogant S%$&HEAD! He will probably go through his money quickly and wind up living with his parents by the time he's 30.
That 70's Show was one of my all time favorites. I had a friend of mine and we used to discuss every episode. But we were so severely disappointed. The show DEFINITELY jumped the shark at various points but most notably in season 7 where Eric was a lazy dumbass. I was looking for Eric to grow up and be the type of man that Donna needed, not an even worse slacker than he already was.
The show should have been ended in season 7 by crafting a more convincing story line around the Eric/Donna relationship. I could have even seen a spinoff. Eric gets a good job at the bank, Donna returns to radio as "Hot Donna" and together they buy their first house with a basement almost the same as Eric's old basement. Now as adults they can hang in the basement of their own house.
And by the way, nothing against the gays, but Fez and Kelso were not gay by no stretch of the imagination. Yeah they definitely had a man-crush on each other but it was not gayness.
Also, Fez getting together with Jackie made no sense. The final 8th season sucked so badly it ruined everything for me. Just a mess....
