The show jumped when our lardie, tubby, lazy American cousins tried to copy it, as they do all our great shows....then they ruined it and made ours look bad as well.
Americans REALLY need to learn to get their own ideas instead of ripping off their betters.

Flawed concept from the beginning. Contestants are asked to find a diamond in the rough at a flea market. They must make purchases at retail, then sell at auction, (inevitably back to the same dealers they purchased from). Little wonder that most episodes end in a loss. To make a comparison, imagine buying a new Corvette from Chevy Dealer 1, then immediately driving it to Chevy Dealer 2 and trying to make a profit. No chance. David Dickinson is an incredibly annoying and inane host as well. Camp can help save a bad show, but you have to have SOMETHING to build on, and this show doesn't have it. I will say it is refreshing to see a game show in which the 'prize' is a few tens of pounds, and the contestants are happy for it.
It lost most of it's appeal when david dickinson left it to Tim Wonnacott to present the show. It can not all be blamed on Tim Wonnacott. After a while you got used to him (at least I did) but he was very annoying when he started to imitate David Dickinson. Why did he also have to wear several different sets of strange coloured glasses every episode. He also tried to present it the way david dickinson would have rather than finding his own style. It got better but he also introduced new rules. I liked the "make profits on all three and get a prize" but the rest.... Why the chance to make a swap and why make such a big deal about it when they did/didn't swap? I also think they should stick to 30 min. episodes. The stretching didn't work and the 1 hour live episodes were a disaster. It seemed like in slow motion and when he started to bother/interview bidders (at the moment they were bidding!!!) I turned my tv off for a while
When David Dickinson stopped presenting it. It lost it's appeal after that. Also when they started letting students play. The final nail in its coffin was moving it to Friday evenings for prime time viewing and suddenly made everyone on the show a "celebrity".
Every day. The basic premise is flawed. English bargain hunters hunt through an antiques/flea market, and given a specific amount of money, seek to purchase items they hope to sell at a public auction for a profit. In about 9 0f 10 cases, they fail to do so, over and over again, even though the second season featured antiques dealers who guided them in their choice. The premise of THIS show is, "Buy high, sell low." The dealers at the market and the bidders at the subsequent auction know exactly what things are worth, and because the guests on the program are essentially buying retail from dealers who have an overhead, they always get skunked at the auction, yet their endless surprise at this is hilarious to watch. The host does his stiff-upper-lip, jolly-sorry best to console, but he's reading from the same script every show.
