It's okay to judge a book by its cover

This was beyond doubt *the* smartest cartoon of the decade, and probably one of the smartest shows of any sort ever. The thing I most appreciated was that the pro-environmental message was never an anti-tech message; the perfect example was "Dino Drive," when Jack lectured the council of the City in the Sea on exactly why the proposed brute-force solution to triceratops getting out of hand won't work. Oh, and to the poster who said the message of that one episode was that you can judge a book by its cover, I recall the episode very clearly: Jack mistrusted her from the start, and deliberately left out some key instructions on operating his equipment as a precaution. The girl was an established enemy, remember.
I Love this show, despite what a lot of people seem to think about it, it's a great show. There is a lot of suspense and action, and that's why I watch it. I love the gunfights and the actors are great.
While the production values and direction of this Saturday-morning cartoon series were just fine, one story in particular puzzled me. I don't remember the entire storyline, except that a woman, who is later revealed to be part of an enemy group, wants to help the main cast in their survival efforts. The main group's leader enlists her aid, even though his fellow group members believe she has ulterior motives. Though the guest character shows her true colors in the end (and is later defeated with her cronies by the good guys), I still believe this particular episode sent a mixed message--that it is OK to judge books by covers. I agree that one needs to be discerning when choosing friends and allies and making choices, but to me, that did not appear to be the message the storywriters wanted to send with this episode. Just that it was OK to judge books by covers.
This show was just awesome, and I was one of the little kids the previous posters are talking about, but I couldn't miss a show. This show was just so awesome, and actually didn't have CGI or JAPANESE ANIMATION!!! It had decent animation. Okay, I don't know what I'm talking about this show just kicked ass, and I was sorry to see it go.
I agree with the above poster..this show was great! I feel the only reason it was cancelled because the show is more geared for the 18-49 crowd instead of little kids...... This show was probably too "cerebral" and "over the head" of some 7-10 year olds; I felt they just did not get it..... This is not the only show that was "too adult" for kids; just watch The Tick, Reboot, Beast Wars/Beast Machines, War Planets, or even Batman:TAS.... Otherwise I was nuts about Caddys & Dinos; I'm glad I have some eps on video...
I just wanted to bring some much needed attention to a show which very few people seem to remember. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was an animated series which premiered on CBS in the fall of 1993. The premise: post apocalyptic future earth where somehow animals from the past and the small human population are slammed together with what remains of late 20th century technology. Despite it's great writing and better animation than you'd normally find on a saturday morning cartoon, it lasted only one 13 episode season. Ii was based on a brilliant comic book series called Xenozoic Tales, created by Mack Schultz.
