Shark Bytes

Add Your Byte
Satisfyingly wacky short-lived mid-1960s comedy with a good cast (Daves Madden and Ketchum = class) and some surprisingly witty writing. One sequence which sticks in the mind was when the camp staff were ordered by an angry administrator to sit still and not cause mayhem. Cue a marvellously ludicrous series of chance events and thirty seconds later the camp's main office was ablaze.
This show never jumped, but was doomed from day one.

It had the misfortune to be put in the same time slot as The Wild, Wild West, which owned Friday nights for years.

Camp Runamuck was eventually broadcast on Nickeloedeon in the late 80s or early 90s.

It was a fun trip down memory lane.
It always used to bug me that the programmes would always begin with the leaders saying goodbye to the young boys at the end of the camp, and the action revolved about what they got up to between camps rather than what happened when they were looking after the boys
This was a quality show, but when Eva Gabor guest starred on one episode I think this is when the show jumped the shark
I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS SHOW ON COMEDY CENTRAL IN THE EARLY 90'S AND ONE OF THE KIDS WAS MAUREEM McCORMICK AKA "MARCIA BRADY" ABOUT 3 YRS BEFORE THE BRADY BUNCH.
I can't say it actually jumped the shark; I don't really remember any plots. However, I do remember the opening theme song for those interested (my friend and I sang it walking to the bus everyday...we were young and liked Jimmy McNichol): Maybe it's the ocean, maybe it's the air. Maybe it's the sunshine that gets in my hair. Maybe it's the ladies, or the clothes that they wear. I don't know. I don't care. I just got to be there... California, here I am, and I love you. (I got the fever for you). California, sunny skies, I got the friends that I need, I got some livin' to do, and looooove you!
This was one of those shows that existed at a level of stupidity few could equal. The only thing worth watching for was the appearance of one of those Wayne girls (Carol or Nina, I can't remember which, but does it really matter?)
