To this day, I still can't believe the public was so indifferent to this show.
To the people that say "there's nothing on tv", there usually is something, the problem is that most people don't actually watch the good stuff, and it gets cancelled

I have to admit that during the first season, which could have been titled "Look How Weird Everyone Is!", I could have quit watching at any time. However, watching it was part of a Sunday ritual, so I stuck it out but never gave up a chance to make fun of it. The second season, however, was fantastic. A twisty and compelling story began to emerge that honestly pulled me in. However, I think it was too little too late for the people who were not externally compelled to watch by a friend. Of the 3 of us watching, only 1 was interested in continuing. By the end of the 2nd season I was really, really pumped for the 3rd. How could they just let it die like that? They brought Sopranos back for the last season and a half but they killed this? I don't understand (figure of speech).
THIS SHOW HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL....ITS A PITTY THEY LOST IT SO BAD
FIRST THEY MADE THE BAD VS EVIL/GOD VS DEVIL PLOT SUCH A BIG THING IT BECAME PREDICTABLE
SECOND THEY PUT LIBBY'S SENSUALITY OVER SOFIE'S ODDNESS SO THEY CAN ADD MORE VIEWERS IN SECOND SEASON
THIRD THEY CANCELLED THEY DIDN'T GIVE THE SHOW A RESOLUTION
STILL IT HAD SUCH GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTION AND COSTUME IT WAS INTERESTING TO WATCH BUT NEVER BECAME A GREAT SHOW

This show had the makings of the next Twin Peaks/X-Files. The first season was too much of a set up season for the show's premise which made many episodes dull. The second season was picked up quite a bit but didn't get an audience from the first season to stick around. Hopefully there will be a movie )DVD or made for TV) to give the story a conclusion.
This is by far one of the best shows ever. If u didn't like it I'm afraid you simply have bad taste.
The plot resolution problem that people are complaining about is bull, how the hell do u resolve a shows plot after HBO have cancelled it?!
Its totally dumps on LOST (one of the most pointless and shark jumping shows I've ever seen) and seems 2 be another sign that intelligent, well thought out and well-made TV is dead in the water (arrested development anyone?)
And finally I'd like to add that Hollie commented earlier that HBO sent an e-mail asking for a critique of the show. If u told them it sucked Hollie I'm afraid u r simply an idiot.

Let me just say that I find shows set during the Great Depression really, well, depressing. I don't know why all these writers constantly try and romanticize it as setting of mysticism. I don't think there was anything mystical or romantic about standing in a bread line, getting clubbed over the head by strike breakers or watching your child starve to death while the bank takes your farm. I also wonder if everything back then really looked as brown as cinematographers make it today. Look at old Kodachrome slides from the era: you'll see what I mean.
the show jumped the shark part way through season II -- maybe the third epidsode of season II it started to show signs, but by the lsat two episodes it was getting sad. the confrontation between the carnies and sampson was so rushed and the conclusion was unjustified.
I am glad to see its over. I watched faithfully every Sunday to get disappointed every time. It had great actors and a awesome premise but it didnt deliver. When HBO sent me an email asking me to critique the show i told them it SUCKED.
"CARNIVALE" deserved better than it got--and so too, did the fans. HBO had the nerve to yank the series in mid-plot and then issue a statement that the show had come to "a logical conclusion"...
Where exactly was that "Conclusion", HBO ??
