Vote for why you think it jumped
Ted McGinley
Day One
Day Two
Shark Bytes
The second episode was when Nathan Lane less-than-safely landed on the other side of the shark, thanks to unfunny lines.
This show jumped the shark as soon the credits listing Ted McGinley appeared on the screen. I give this show maybe 3 more weeks.
Nathan Lane feels insecure looking at the Washington Monument. Yawn. The stereotypical supporting characters are poorly written; nothing new under the sun here. The dimwitted Stephanie Faracey (sp?) character not believing Charlie Lawrence is gay isn't funny. The actors have all been excellent in other shows, but it's sad to see them mill about aimlessly in this lifeless sitcom. The best part of this show? I think Ted McGinley is great as the lecherous Republican congressman! Stop picking on the guy!
Not really JTS , but somehow I think that "Do Unto Others", the Touched by an Angel wannabe that the titular Congressman starred in, would be better suited as its own show. I mean, an angel helps other people help themselves? That would make an interesting show! Unfortunately, by treating that show's concept as sentimental drivel, the writers of Charlie Lawrence may have doomed the concept to ridicule or obscurity.
TED MC GINLEY??? What, are the producers of this show shorting the stock of CBS' parent company? Martha Stewart, move over!
So, we have a B-list (Broadway-list) celebrity as the star, the patron saint of Jump the Shark, CBS is the network, it's on AFTER canceled Becker, it's dumped onto Sunday nights in the summer, and low first night ratings. Yeah, I bet they were just waiting for this to be a hit... NOT!
It's gotten to the point where the devil is now making McGinley's choices. Nathan Lane as a former congressman? The only thing missing is it's not on ABC. Why CBS, why?
To the two above -- you are both idiots and need to get a life. A show must start to jump the shark. BTW, the only reason I knew about this was the main page had Ted alert.
