I will never forget the thursday night I said I am not watching this anymore. It was after cliff had this dream with these puppets in them. I believe Rudy had one too.
Jumped several times I believe. The last show I watched (only watched the first 20 minutes, got disgusted and turned it off) was when Theo demanded of his mom to be treatedlike an adult. So the Rashad character said "you want to be treated like an adult, eh?" and rolled her eyes, to the ecstasy of the audience. So she forces him into the role of a defendant in court right there in the living room. Excuse me, lets all get together and act like adults by playing pretend court?
I loved the show, but Pam was a HORRIBLE idea!!! I can't stand to watch an episode with her in it, even the theme for her eps is annoying!
Got a little preachy towards the end, but a good, family show that provided some laughs. Anyone else notice a lot of similarities to Full House?
An impossiby clean, well-kept house in a big city. Parents that could be uptight sometimes. A know-it-all perfect daughter (Sondra = DJ). A busybody middle daughter (Stephanie = Vanessa) and a once-cute-but-getting-old young daugher (Rudy=Michelle) who was replaced by annoying twins (Winnie and Nelson = Nicky and Alex). Celebrites are frequent guests - Stevie Wonder on Cosby, Little Richard on Full House. A lesson learned and a hug at the end of every show.

OMG I loved TCS, but it had its flaws. First of all the "kids" got too old and when that annoying kid Olivia joined, the show went in the crapper IMO. Those horrible sweaters Bill wore didn't help matters, those damn sweaters made me want vomit. I didn't like Claire all that much, she was such a bitch. The funniest shows were when they would sing for the grandparents...LOL, I can still see Rudy lipsyncing "baby,Baby", that was funny man.
Anyway, back to the show. When Denise's stepdaughter Olivia joined the show shifted from a nice family show, to "The Olivia Show". The show focused mostly on that annoying brat Olivia or Theo's dumb ass friends. I actually like Lisa Bonet but Bill Cosby apparently didn't, she was basically written out of the show. My favorite character was actually that fat kid, I think his name was Peter, one of Rudy's friends and "Bud". They were hilarious. When Peter was on Bill's lap and he was trying not to drop him, I laughed my a** off. I don't think Peter even said 2 words the whole time he was on the series, I think once he may have said "Uh oh" and that was it. He was just funny, like the "evil" baby on The Simpsons (the one with the unibrow). Elvin (Sondra's husband) was as p****whipped as Bill was but the grandparents were cool. The family had a nice dynamic and for the most part was very funny although the show was getting boring once the kids got too old and Cliff's jazz musician friends started to show up (yeah right).
I have to say my favorite episode was when Claire and Cliff wanted to teach Theo a lesson (which seemed to be every episode but anyway) and Cliff becomes Theo "Landlord" and Rudy becomes the town "drunk" LOL. Cliff even says that "she drinks heavily", I don't know why that still makes me laugh but it was just clever.
Anyway, in conclusion the show JTSed when Theo,Rudy and Vanessa got old and Denise and her husband moved in (how many freaking people in that house!) and don't get me started on Pam! I've already commented about Olivia, I hated that kid (Sorry Raven! if you're reading this!) She was such a brat and show mainly focused on her,Theo's friends and Cliff's musician friends but all in all a great 80s show...thanks

Y'know, I'm reluctant to say this, as I just know it will be misconstrued and taken completely out of context. Some of the JTS reviews here, however, come quite close to sounding almost racist.
That's not to say that all the bad reviews here are racist, or that anyone who doesn't like this show is a racist, of course. That's obviously not true, as interesting points have been made about the characters.
But claiming that this show's popularity is due to "white guilt"? Calling Clair a "black beeotch"? Belittling the show's writers because the characters had the AUDACITY to flash Jet magazine too much? Accusing Cosby (and the other characters) of so-called "racial prejudice? Come on, people! It's like some of you are trying to find reasons to criticize this show.
I don't mind if you don't like the show. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. If you're going to accuse The Cosby Show of jumping the shark, however, you're going to have to come up with better reasons than flashing Jet magazine "too much" and non-existent racial prejudice.

i hated Olivia i realy wanted to see an episode where the little brat took a header down a few flights of staire or ran infront of a transport truck
I loved the early episodes that centered around the kids, like Theo concealing an earring or Denise bringing home a weird boyfriend. Then everyone got older and less funny. Still, there was potential in episodes about Denise's early marriage and new responsibilities. That got ruined not because she gained a cute little stepdaughter, but because the cute little stepdaughter was such a ham that it became really annoying at times. Elvin and Sandra and their twin babies did not make for interesting storylines, and an earlier poster was right about the boring flood of jazz musicians and old folks. Sorry, but nobody wanted to watch an entire episode about Olivia wanting to go to the zoo instead of to church with some wise old woman named Gramtee. And what the hell is a gramtee anyway? By this time, only Cliff's occasional silliness
made the show worth watching. But like many family sitcoms, it had a few good early seasons.

1. When on the first few episodes, Bill's name was Clifford (it was written outside of his office door and his mom called him that), and then his name changed to Heathcliff.
2. When on the first episode, they said they only had four kids, then changed it to: Four kids, and one at college.
(Olivia showing up was not a jump, it was perfect for that time. We needed someone to distract us from Rudy.)
3. When Olivia's character started getting "too cute" when she started to get a lil older, like 4 on up.

Claire Huxtable ruined the show with her BS nose in the air routine. Snobby black beeotch who acted white. (no wonder Cliff fukked her with the lights off and HIS eyes closed tight!).
why in the world if cliff was a doctor and claire was a lawyer, were all of the family living in a squeezed up townhouse in Brooklyn, and both were such tightwads, never did make sense to me, seems as if they should have been living in a mansion somewhere, or at least a bigger set builtrit
The "New Kid in Town" definately made the show jump the shark. When Olivia came in and then "Cousin Pam" and all of her friends and then Rudy's friend came in, the show was definately showing it's cracks. Oh, and when they kept meeting grandfather after gradfather who happened to be a jazz musician (always a real life jazz musician doing a guest-star appearance) I kept thinking "How many granfather's do they have? Eight?"
