This is just a primetime soap opera. Is Dr. Green going to come back from the dead soon? Is Luca going to go into a coma. Is another character going to fall down an elevator shaft? How about this for a story line, a pack of rabid wolves enters the emergency room and eats the entire cast. This is also shown in the daytime and it is called General Hospital.
The show has never been the same without Green and Carter. Those two were central to the success of the show and it has been wandering aimlessly ever since they left. While I do like many of the current cast, and think that some of them are great actors, the show just has lost its cohesiveness and nobody has been able to bring everyone together since Green.
This show is done. Thank god this season is going to be its last. ER jumped when Mark died and the final nail was Carter leaving
When Dr. Romano died.

good job man
Love that first season and have a blast watching on DVD now and then. Stopped watching altogether a couple of years ago; characters and story lines no longer compelling.
I loved this show from the beginning but stopped watching when George Clooney left at the end of the 6th season. By then he was mostly a bit player anyway.

It wasn't just him leaving though, because in season 4, ER was already starting to repeat a lot of it shows. Same s.h.i.t, every episode. Boring.
Jumped the moment John Stamos showed up for work...I saw him on one of these "Celeb Interview" shows, and he claims he's sorry that next season is the last...but goes on to say he's "in discussion" with the execs on a spin-off based on his ER character? What do they call a bird that picks on a body's flesh before it is interred in the ground? Maybe Stamos is the "new Ted Mcginley"...when he shows up, prepare for the show to be cancelled within a year or two...and I'd be willing to bet Maura Tierney could carry ANY series she would be assigned to after ER's demise. After all, from what I've seen she had to carry THIS season...
This is 'The Simpsons' of hospital dramas -- they just won't end it.
I mean Age of Conan, of course )
