Who is Aaron and why does anyone need to follow his rules? Do a lot of people make up their own rules on this site?? Does anyone actually take this guy seriously? I thought this was about a TV show (which, BTW, wasn't that good).
Now that someone has brought it up, here is how to pass "the Aaron Test.":)

Pass: write about the show the page is designed for. Base your comments about things that really did or really did not happen on the show. Feel free to like or dislike any themes, characters, actors/actresses, etc. Perhaps make a reference to a similiar show.

Fail: Turn a page about an apolitical show into a political soap box, go on and on about programs that have nothing to do with the page, make ad hominem attacks against posters you disagree with, claim that people who don't like a show shouldn't post on this page (I'm always stunned by those), write in all caps LIKE THIS, make up (usually something disgusting) so scenario that never occurred on the show that never happened and sight it as a reason for "jumping," write things that make no sense (haven't seen it here but have seen it elsewhere-people write things that clearly don't make any sense, (haven't seen it here but I've seen it elsewhere, etc.

Has anyone else on here seen any of those Blair/Jo Lesbian videos on YouTube. I think some of those are pretty good (Chemicals React in particular). For those who are so concerned about sex, relax neither Blair or Jo were lesbians, nor are Nancy McKeon or Lisa Whelchel. I picture Nancy just laughing these off, but I bet Lisa throws a hissy fit everytime she hears about them. I can just picture it too, about how the creators are going to "burn in [Heck]" for making them and the like. Yeah, sure. :^O The truth of the matter is they are much better than the average episode of this slop.
I was always impressed with the majesty of Edna G's beautiful rack. Now THERE was a pair!
Sadly, Patricktimothy1 is correct. I suspect the producers wrote in hot guys for Natalie to drive home the feel-good point that your mom used to preach to you: "it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside as long as you're pretty on the inside..." That mantra has given Ho-Ho saturated fatties hope for years. Unfortunately, it works only rarely.
It was over when they went through a phase where they had the homely and very overweight Natalie getting asked out by really good looking guys. The actors must have held back snickers and giggles when they read their lines where they act like she was a hot date. Not to be mean, but in reality, she would grade out as a 3 out of 10 and was getting asked out by guys who were 10s. It was ludicrous, completely non believable, and frankly, brought her homeliness and weight to the forefront since noone on Earth would believe that storyline. Like Gregory House said "3's date 3's and 10s date 10s. 10s dont date 3's. One wonders is she actually deluded herself into believing that nonsense or if she was embarassed also. My guess is, she insisted on having hot guys ask her charachter out since the other girls had them. All it did was make people laugh.
Conchita:

I remember thinking the exact same thing about parental responsibility.:) But then again, that part wasn't necessarily unrealistic, because their are girls in boarding schools in real life. Plus Jo and Blair were supposed to come from "broken homes'" (divorced parents). But still if you aren't willing to take care of your children before they become adults, you probably shouldn't have them. But then that's an attack on the whole "boarding school" concept, not just limited to FOL specifically.
I hate all the newer shows and the shows from the last decade and love all the shows from the '80s. However, "Facts of Life" was very unrealistic to me, at least when I began watching it as an adult. Firstly, because in the first season the girls always wore short-shorts and halter-tops even in the winter and second because almost all the action took place in the main room of the dormatory. What was also unreal was how Mrs. Garrett became more of a solid authority figure to these girls than their own parents. It seemed Mrs. Garrett was more concerned with their well-being than their own families were. I also agree with what people on here have said about the girls all still living together with Mrs. Garrett even while the two eldest girls were going to college. Of course as a kid I thought this was one of the coolest shows on TV but looking at it from an adult's point of view, it's sort of throwing parental responsibility out the window.
"Guest" from June 22nd-don't feel bad-you know what they say-great minds think alike :)

a) These are opinions, neither right nor wrong that have nothing to do with this page. Apparently the people here have run out of ideas, yet they continue to post on here anyway. With one even being "mad" at me for criticizing this show. But that's the whole purpose of this site. Duh.

b) It's a valid point but it is getting stale.

Does anyone remember the last ep from season 2-"Brian&Sylvia. What was that all about? The cast were guest-stars in their own show! Mrs. G, Blair, and Jo only appear in one scene. Also, for those here who are obsessed with sex (seems to be many) I recall Brian making a remark about how he'd been "shacking up" with Sylvia. This did not further the plot, it just appeared to be the writers throwing in a sex joke, the type that many here seem to despise. As this "pilot" never got the green light, it was a very awkward episode, but then it seems most were. To the last "guest" I'm in almost total agreement.:-D
Here's what I liked about FOL: The theme song.

Here's I disliked about FOL: Everything else.
ok, i have browsed through many of these entries. i have figured out that there is a time for shows to be on, and a time for them to be off the air. i have read a lot of negative things lately, and though this is a site to pick on shows that have JTS, let's talk about what we liked most about it. here's my piece.

how about the early one where the girls were studying for finals? natalie's thunder hat, tootie not wanting to study, saying, "an actress needs to feel", then natalie rebutting with, "an journalist needs to think."

along those same lines, anyone remember "AU! give me back my gold watch." that helped me remember that in physical science class, which i was taking when watching reruns.

about blair. lisa welchel is making something good of herself these days, being an author and (i believe) an evangelist. i've read some entries about how that "special episode" jumped the shark. i beg to differ. she needed to see that there is more to character than beauty.

lastly, these girls were real! yes, it's true, there was a later episode with natalie sleeping with her boyfriend. but it was not in the same tone as all of these shows today, in which there was constant shameless jumping into bed.
Let's stipulate to the following:

a) We all hate "Friends", "Frasier", "Seinfeld", "Sex and the City" and "2 1/2 Men" because all they discuss is sex, sex, and sex.

b) We can't understand why Sony doesn't put this out on DVD

OK--now that we have THAT out of the way, can we move on to other things (sorry that I sound like Aaron)?

How about this very provocative post:

Did you ever notice how Natalie looks a lot like Mata Hairy on "Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp?" Although Mata is a much better actress...

Thoughts?
Even though I'm a guy I still loved watching "The Facts of Life" back when it was still in reruns because it was a funny show that could also be serious. And even though none of the girls were exactly raving beauties, I found each of them appealing in their own unique ways. I used to tape it all the time when it was on USA, and then one day I discovered it was no longer being shown. Then I believe TV Land, or Nick at Nite picked it up very briefly, but then decided to air a bunch of "I Love Lucy" crap instead. I even think the Hallmark Channel had it on for about a year, than replaced it with "Little House" and "7th Heaven". Then I heard it was on DVD, but Sony cancelled the rest of the series, so I'm not even going to bother buying any of the DVD's, what's the point? I was happy to see YouTube picked up all the episodes, but then those Sony jerks forced them to take them off!! Yeah, this was a great show like so many others from that era, and they were alot better than "Friends", "Frasier", "Seinfeld", "Sex and the City", "Desperate Housewives", ect. because they delt with topics other than sex. Nowadays, sex is like the main focus of all these shows without even showing the repercutions or the aftermath of having frequent unprotected sex. And it is really annoying that these idiotic programs that are being shown all the time in reruns are released on DVD everyday while "The Facts of Life" has been stalled at season 3 for nearly four years now. Those Sony people may find this a tad hard to believe, but there are people out there who would like to see more than Jennifer Aniston whining over everything ("Oooooh....noooooo....he didn't call...."), or Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer reinacting the same scene over and over again while some fat kid either picks his nose or passes gas, or a bunch of sex-crazed mannequins prancing around the Big Apple in their pricey shoes and dresses trying to get laid....there are those of us who want to see the classic shows that were funny but also had some strong messages.
Did you ever notice how Natalie looks a lot like Mata Hairy on "Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp?" Although Mata is a much better actress...
Honestly I really want the rest of this show on DVD, or at least back on TV. Why would Sony choose to unload tons of seasons and boxed sets of all these shows that are always being reran instead of shows we haven't seen in ages?! I also agree that the stupid "Friends" and "Seinfeld" crap is nauseating with how often they are shown on TV on practically every single TV station and are given full-on DVD treatments left and right! And I am so sick of Jennifer Aniston's ugly huge head and tiny body! "Facts of Life" was a great show that for some reason gets very little love and needs to be shown on TV again instead of the "Seinfeld" poop! And what is the deal with stupid "2 and a Half" men sh-t being released on DVD when it is being reran all the time?! OYE!!! It is SOOOO ANNOYING!!!
You're welcome.
