Never. Alas, you have been vindicated, previous poster. This show did exist. Joel somebody from "Silver Spoons" was the pastor and Steven Furst (Sp?) was an assistant. I did RC parish work for ten years and saw some similarities to everyday parish life. Including the non-catholic secretary who didn't know the day to day lingo ("the rabbi will see you now..."). It was a summer replacement series so I didn't think it had time to jump the shark. This was a cult favorite in one parish where I worked. A favorite line: "Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub, yeah God! Also, a favorite character: a Church goods salesman who had items like "tumbling wall of Jericho fly swatters," and velcro hymnal holders for pews. Most unrealistic aspect, all those priests working in one parish. There's a major shortage in the U.S., people!
I am hoping against hope that someone, anyone else remembers this show. If I could find any source that would reach someone who had heard of it, it is here. So, I ask now, does anyone remember a show, that I think was on ABC but I am not sure, called "Have Faith"? It aired in either the late 80's or early 90's and it starred the Dad from "Silver Spoons" as a priest in charge of a parish. No one else of note was on the show that I remember, but the other characters were his assistant priest, (a heavy set guy), and a black secretary. The head priest guy would sometimes wear a ball cap around the parish hall. If anyone does remember this, pleas redeem me, I know it existed, but was one for at most one season, possibly less. It jumped the shark when an arsonist confessed to the assistant priest in a confessional that he loved to start fires, and the priest wanted to tell someone, but knew he was bound to secrecy.
