Never Jumped
The goodbye episode
Day One
Shark Bytes
At the end of the first Christmas special, the Cockney thief ("I'll nick anyfink"), breaks into a house to steal the presents. When confronted by a sweet little girl, and Carol singers performing "Silent Night" in the snow outside, he changes his mind, turns to the camera, and wishes us all a merry Christmas. This was probably meant to satirise cheesey Christmas Scrooge stories, but at the time, the only possible reaction was Bleeeeuuuurgh! The Ted and Ralph special was an embarrassment, and their later attempts at specials (Last Fast Show Ever etc), were disappointing cash-ins. Stick to the original series, which were consistently excellent, although it probably takes a couple of episodes to tune in to the style.
It reverse jumped. The first 2 or 3 episodes were just ordinary. But then it accelerated into comedy greatness. Which was nice.
That guy talking about Zhaan and whatever leaving at Episode 4.10 is talking about a completely different show. The Fast Show never jumped because they new when to end it. A show based on character-comedy such as this can get old really Fast, but Whitehouse and the gang knew that 3 series was enough. The perfect balance of continuously revived characters and funny one-off characters made it more than just a sketch show, and the writing team's satire abilities are outstanding. They'd better not make any new ones, because they'd be a bit rubbish, but the ones the already made are BRILLIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNT!
The show has had some weaker episodes, but only because the creative team behind it has taken a lot of chances and experimented. Even when they failed, the show was always good. But when they succeed, it is magical.
When Colin Hunt came in to work quoting the catchphrases of his favourite sketch show "I'm a alien". His workmates look bemused as he quotes snippets of the show that they find unamusing as they didn't watch, thus parodying their own viewers.
Season 4.10 They have killed off Crais and Talyn and Zhaan. They have killed off any pretense that there is a story line.None of the characters have any story arc. They have resorted to farting, belching, peeing on camera into a bucket, drinking urine, showing a 150 year old wrinkled alien female masturbate against a pole, for 3 minutes-for eye catching, snatching of the 18+ male group demographic. The episodes are not only disjointed from one to another but with in each episode there is no continuity. The show is silly, vulgar, and NOT entertaining. It was such a great show in the beginning they have messed up the chemistry of the ensemble' by the loss of characters (death) or just gone for no reason -Stark? It is really barely watchable. A segment of the fanatic base is unable to accept the decline in quality and these fans live in constant self protective denial. The first three seasons were classic, this last season is an example of how hard it is to maintain a good concept--year after year. Looks like the writers just lost interest or didn't care.
If you don't think this show is funny, you're looking at it in the wrong way. It manages to work on lots of different levels, from psychological humour to downright slapstick. The writers are some of the funniest writers I've ever seen, and they are excellent actors too. This is one of the funniest shows ever made.
They should never have done those final 3 goodbye episodes, they'd run out of ideas and it fell flat on its face. They'd have been better to not say goodbye and leave on a high
