I haven't seen this show since the 60's. I liked Gale Storm in My Little Margie and enjoyed her getting into zany situations with Zasu Piits in this show.
Sadly Gale Storm has been forgotten but fortunately still lives on in DVD format.

I always loved Gale Storm, both on here and on her previous show, "My Little Margie". There was something about that breathy catch in her voice when she would audibly inhale while speaking. Some of the episodes of both series are available thru Netflix. Even after all these years, there are still several fan sites devoted to her.
Never jumped but of course, I haven't seen the show for almost 50 years! Used to watch it when I was a kid and stayed home from school, when the daytime reruns as "Oh Susanna" were shown.
I used to watch this show when I stayed home sick from school in the 50s. I distinctly remember one episode where she was doing a western saloon-type show singing "It's a Hot Night in Alaska." Sadly, it's one of those "lost tunes" that wander through middle-aged heads for no reason at all......"when Dolly does her Oh-My-Golly Dance.. The miners from the hills throw hundred dollar bills and strong men faint at a glance ..."
The cleverest show ever produced. Insightful, funny, touching, and thoroughly entertaining. I started watching the show in the second season while I was still in college. It became the only television show I would never miss. Hundreds of great moments, many of which are mentioned here in these posts. If I had to pick a favorite episode or two, I’d have to say it was the two part anniversary show with Ed Hermann. A couple other favorites that come to mind were Erlichts wedding (Which took place at the Craig’s house), and the episode where Lucy and Coolage aid the dying Charles Lane. I cried like a baby at the end of that show. Assume program.
The show's name may have been changed. It may have started as the Gale Storm Show, but I remember it as "O, Susanna", and at the beginning the ship's bellows blew. Zatsu (sp) Pitts, a great character actor, was her side kick. I wish some cable network would bring back classic 50s black and white TV.
Gale's bubbly personality always kept this show on a high level. Great, talented co-stars. No one ever played down to anyone else. This one certainly never jumped.
My favorite television show ever! Every third episode was a musical, and featured Gale Storm's lovely singing voice.
Isn't this the show where Gale Storm played a cruise ship social director named Susanna? If so, it definitely never jumped! I remember watching this show when I was a kid, also. One episode I remember vividly: It was the Captain's birthday, and he thinks everyone has forgotten it. Meanwhile, Susanna is secretly planning a lavish surprise party for him. When it comes time for the party, however, no one can find him. The Captain is finally tracked down to a remote corner of a storeroom, where he's holding a cupcake with a candle in it, and singing pathetically to himself, "Happy Birthday to me...." Susanna lures him out of the room and into the big salon where the party is waiting for him. A fun show.

I wish this program were available in syndication or on video or DVD. What a treat it would be.
