GIMME A BREAK NEVER JUMPED THE SHARK. IT WAS A COOL SHOW FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE '80S. I WATCHED IT EVERY WEEK, AND I LOVED IT. NELL CARTER WAS NELL HARPER, A BLACK WOMAN WHO TOOK CARE OF THE CHIEF AND HIS KIDS, AFTER THE CHIEF'S WIFE DIED. THEY ARE WHITE, BUT THEY LOVED NELL JUST THE SAME AS A FATHER WOULD LOVE HIS KIDS.
Hey Smartboy,

Why do you put very in quotes? Is it some sort of innuendo or something? I'd post a response, but I don't get your point.

Oh, and this show was a piece of garbage....
I am posting here pretty much to stimulate some more conversation about this fine show! I just wish more episodes would come out on DVD! In any event, I have recently posted on the "Gimme a Break!" section of "Sitcoms Online" and signed the guestbook of Lauri Hendler (Julie). I also posted messages on both sections of a site dedicated to Lea Thompson who was Caroline from "Caroline in the City". I would be "very" interested in what anyone out there thinks of any of these posts!
Hello All
Im New...
One thing I am having a very hard time understanding is why my posts on this stie keep dissappearing! This is at least the third time that I am posting on the top of this board in about a week! Nothing about my posts has been vulger or obcene so I do not understand why they keep coming down. The only thing about my last two that could be considered distasteful is that I called Kanny Rogers a loser. However, he (I am supposing it is a "he") has said a lot worse about me and his is still up! Go figure!
Gimmee A Break was a bigger pile of crap than Nell Carters' whole body, Smartboy, so that's why nobody is responding to your thread! Also, Maureen McCormick asked if you could please stop stalking her!! P.S. Julie, too!!!
I would just like other fans to know that I have recently started "tons" of threads on the "Gimme a Break!" section of "Sitcoms Online"! So far, I have "zero" responses! I have also tried bringing up old threads in hopes of regenerating some conversation. Nothing! Shortly before coming to this site, I signed the Guestbook on the Official Site of Lauri Hendler. I would be "very" interested in reading what other people thing of any of these posts!
Hi. Sorry for my english. Happy New Year!!!!!
Good Luck!
Very seldom do I post two messages right next to each other. I almost always give someone else a turn to post a message before I type a new one. However, in this case, I cannot "resist" the temptation to point out a form of poetic justice that happened within the past twenty-four hours! In my last post, I mentioned how many messeges by me as well as other posters have been edited out in the recent past. Sometime yesterday some wise guy said that I am in my position to complain about the editing because it is all "my" fault! In between then and now, "that" postere's message has been taken down and "mine" is still up there! At this point I feel about as high as Samantha probably felt when she go to burst Katie's bubble in regards to the handsome guy from the protest! For those of you who do not understand what I meant in my last sentence, the episode that I am referring to is called "Samantha's Protest". If anyone would like to know more about that episode, they can go to the second page of this site and find another post by me that deals with it. Until next time folks!
One thing that I think has really become unbelievable is the amount of editing that gets done on this site! I posted a messages this morning and it was gone in less than an hour! So was the message that it was in response to. This is the third and "last" time that I am going to correct a typo that I made on a post that I did several days ago! I meant to type the word "smoke" but ended up typing "smake". I would now like to point out a mistake that "another" poster has made! Whenever you do a quote within a quote, you use the single quotation mark rather than the double. The last poster (who is, by the way someone who I feel "very" sorry for) quoted a sentence that I typed and wanted special attention paid to the misspelling of the word "smoke" which came out "smake". He or she put another regular quotation mark inside the first one rather then the single one. This person then ended with just another regular quote mark rather than a single "and" a double signifying that it was the end of the quote as well as the special word. While I was typing my last couple of sentences, I realized how pointless it was for me to point out this punctuation error! For anyone who would post a message as "stupid" as that one, punctuation is the "least" of his or her problems! However, because I have already gone to the trouble of typing it, I think that I will post in anyway!
Son, turn off that dang computer and go to bed already!! You have to get up early tomorrow and watch a "Gimmee A Break" marathon, kiss your autographed photo of Julie and think up even more insults like "put that in your pipes and "smake" it"!! You're such a clever boy!!!
At this point, I am finding it dificult to understand wheather there is some problem in the system and that messages are back to falling off the board by accedent at a "great" rate or whether they are being edited out. Last night, I posted a message telling Angie how insulted I was by her last message and how she should have more respect for people's feelings. One possibility is that she has some connections and that she convinced the people in power to have it removed. Another possibility is that it is pure coincidence that it just happened to fall down in the last eighteen or so hours. At this point, it is not really that important to me anyway. However, there is one thing about my message that I think that other posters should know. This is directed at anyone who thinks that I do not have a life outside of posting crazy messages! When I am not surfing the net and getting my two cents in every pot, I am volunteering at Saint Barnabas Hospice Center! Now put "that" into your pipes and smake it!
Hey fo' shindu: Looks like you can keep on posting if you kiss a**. Welcome back, Smartboy! I'm glad your mommy was able to buy you a new computer. It's nice that at 38-years-old you still depend on your parents to take care of your needs.
Does anyone remember the episode where Julie challenged Nell to a farting contest? She said Nell's barrel-ass didn't have as much control as hers. All through the episode Julie downed can after can of baked beans, saying "I'll show that blimp who the real Queen is." Of course the episode had to have a smarmy ending, so the judges had to split the award; Nell won for quanity, Julie for quality. I tear up every time I see this episode. It's almost as if I can smell the aftermath. Why can't they make shows like this anymore?
In addition to getting my new computer, another event of significance has happened to me recently. I ordered from Canada the second season of this series. I waited "very" patiently for it to get released in this country, but it did not appear to be happening! I received my copy about a month ago. Once I got my DVDs home, the first episode that I watched was "Katie Steals Julie's Jock"! In my opinion, the site of Julie in those leather designer boots has "never" been surpassed or even equaled anywhere in the world! On top of this, I would say that, in the day, Hazel Shermet was almost as "hot" as Lauri Hendler! Because I had owned the DVDs of the first season for some time, I got to get reaquainted with her in the "Emergency" and "Mom's Birthday". Once I bought the second season it was "great" to get to see her in her third and last appearance in this series. The character that she played was "Woman at Party" and the episode was titled "Nell Goes Door to Door".
