This describes Bob Villa perfectly:
Narcissistic personality disorder
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-R), the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy." A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement
6. is interpersonally exploitative
7. lacks empathy
8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
The etiology of this disorder is unknown according to Groopman and Cooper. However, they list the following factors identified by various researchers as possible factors:
• An oversensitive temperament at birth
• Overindulgence and overvaluation by parents
• Valued by parents as a means to regulate their own self-esteem
• Excessive admiration that is never balanced with realistic feedback
• Unpredictable or unreliable care giving from parents
• Severe emotional abuse in childhood
• Being praised for perceived exceptional looks or talents by adults
• Learning manipulative behaviors from parents
Some narcissistic traits are common and a normal developmental phase. When these traits are compounded by a failure of the interpersonal environment and continue into adulthood they may intensify to the point where NPD is diagnosed. It has been suggested that NPD may be exacerbated by the onset of aging and the physical, mental, and occupational restrictions it imposes as can most personality traits.

I can find nothing on the internet on JoAnne's birthdate or birthplace. There's absolutlely no personnal information on her listed anywhere. How can soneone this public remain so aloof?
I liked the shows Robin was on. I can't get use to the new chick at all. I wish the Hometime websight would let you know what DVDs featured Robin and her nice little hinder, so I could buy them!
joanne(jojo) well she is one, hot tamale. hometime wasn't the same when, that sweet, sexy hellcat (joanne)left the show!!! granted i was very happy to, see my girl room to change, and on home savvy. but what i'm about to say, i mean it in a good way. robin hartl and suzanne egli, were good co-host for dean but joanne liebeler, was and always will, be the best!!!! and joanne has the most, beautiful legs,a leading diy-lady could ever have!!!!
Suzanne Egli was THE HOTTEST babe on the show period. She has the best @ss, cute little ti**ties, and a cute face. Robin wasn't too bad, but I couldn't stand the way she grunted and groaned with the slightest effort to make it seem she was hauling the whole load. Joanne was a diesel dyke. Nuff said there. I hope the show moves into the new era and gives Dean a man-wife. He wouldn't be doing as much bending over thats for sure.
JoAnne Liebler was great, she was also sexy. She went on to be in 'Seinfeld' as an actor and both wrote for and acted in 'Roseanne' before doing 'Home Savvy'. She also turned up in Snoop Doggs TV show. Robyn was manic and had very strange hairstyles. Founded a real estate company after she left. There were a couple more ex wives. One before Jo Jo and one between her and Robyn (who as I remember was a lot older than Dean).
The Second Log Cabin was the jumping point for me.

What a surprise! JoAnne Liebler back on Hometime. PBS, Vancouver BC area on Aug 26, 2007. Since I missed the beginning of the show, I don't know what capacity JoJo was in. When she was a regular, I made a point of watching. It was a sad day watching her last show! Some people you just never forget! Her and Dean had a rapport. Hometime remains a favourite of mine!

Jo Jo's a butch lesbian. C'mon guys! Robin's hot and I've seen her lift just as many 2x12's as Dean. Y'all need to get over it. Joann left the show in the early nineties. I will agree with most everyone by saying that when they acted as a couple, that was when it tanked for me. Can we say "continuity"? I didn't think so. If they were supposed to play a couple then they should have played a couple in every show. Did they think the audience was stupid?
Dean goes through women like Hugh Hefner, but at least most of the projects are affordable. This Old House has degenerated into a yuppyfest.
Replacing JoAnne with Robin was the beginning of the downward spiral. They clearly brought in Robin to try and make the show more appealing to women. Instead of hammers and sweat, we got how to pot plants and use lipstick to mark door jams. The new co-host can't even swing a hammer with one hand, and couldn't even get through one season without getting pregnant. It's a terrible shame, but there are no more good construction shows left on television.

This past year when the went to a format more like the non-PBS HI shows. They "interview" everyone with close-up shots and say alot of stupid stuff. They also no longer play the really good back-up music that they used to.
As everyone said - when JoAnne Liebler left. But the comments indicate the people aren't informed or didn't really know her. I met with JoAnne and Dean the week she was leaving. I thin it was around the late 80 or early 90s. My daughter (Joanne) was a big fan (for thename as well) and JoAnne Liebler - who is a sweetheart and as friendly as they come spent time with my Joanne and we talked about her leaving. Her love was comedy and she was going out west to try her hand as a comedienne. However, like George Reeves and Jerry Mathers, I think she couldn't shake the novelty image as the home-improvement lady guru. JoAnne is probably the only female who can pick up a hammer, or a ram set or a jackhammer - and the guys will believe she knwos what to do with them - becasue she does. If you watch her on her shows - she clearly is comfortable with what she is doing. Robin Hartl is forced - trying to lok the expert but obviously (at least to me) had the stuff explained - crasg coursed and then conveyed an "expert" image. She's awkward with tools - I like her - she's personable - but my guess is she wasn't raised with this stuff. JoAnne was. She worked with these tools most of her life and a power saw is more JoAnne than a steam iron. She really wanted to make it as a comedienne but that didn't pan out so she returned to what she was known for - she needed to make a living and her recognition as probably the only female in a clearly male dominated media environment (Norm, Steve, Bob and the rest) - she's the only one I watch with respect - and I live with these tools - Should she ever return to Hometime (not likely) the ratings would skyrocket and the media coverage would be huge. But don't blame Dean I'm confident he was devastated when she left. The show with those two was as unique and entertaining as any home-improvement show ever will be. The one I remember most is the installation of a new basement sauna at "Dean's house". They were made out to be a "couple" which added to the show. At the end of the show she goes upstairs to get a cold drink - the camera shows her from the knees down. JoAnne was and still is drop-dead gorgeous and as she walked thru the front hall she drops her towel on the floor and strolls (to the imagination) naked toward the door. The bell rings, the door flies open and it's Dean's parents yelling Surprise Dean - we're here to visit and JoAnne is standing there in the bugff - and the camera cuts out. Another episode that had me absolutely riveted was a clear con-job that they pulle off nicely. My guess is it was JoAnne's idea. Their project was a new office building - huge - probably 30K Sq Ft. They Pour a slab the size of a football field, pour huge footings for beams and columns - then JoAnne runs a huge overhead crane to lift the beams in place for the structure - at that point I'm saying to myself - this can't e real - no one would lend or rent such equipment. Then their there with huge concrete floating equipment - the kind you ride on and they're shown tiling the front lobby - the size of a movie theater. At that point you KNEW this was a hoax - no 2 people could do this and it wasnt even in the realm of feasible - so at the last minute while there calmly and confidently explaining the work THEY did - a group of workers (probably 10) "accidentally" walk into the action of the shot and Dean says "Whoops - I guess you caught us" and explains the this large construction company was doing the work. This show had absolutely NO value to the do it yourselfer - except to perhaps show that there are some projects out of our league. But it was the one show that sticks in my mind and was the best one they did for pure fun and learning - it was neat to see how such a building went up - even if hypothetically. Now JoAnne's got her own shows - a number of them. She's still the cutest thing on TVm still has the respect of most handymen who still cringe when they see a female pick up a jackhammer or hop onto a Bobcat. I had my girls floating concrete when they were 8. My Joanne has the photo of JoAnne and Dean from there last tour and will always remember her buddy JoAnne with the cute autograph - To my namesake Joanne - From JoAnne Liebler. I'm just glad she's back on TV. we missed her
