John Leguizamo is the Hispanic Spike Lee. Yeah, this show was absolutely flawless, but it wasn't marketed properly, it was way ahead of its time, Fox kept moving it around, blah blah blah. How about it wasn't remotely funny and hosted by a bitter, arrogant, egomaniac pipsqueak in a fishnet tanktop?
Out of all sitcoms that I have seen, House of Buggin' was the most funniest by far. Not everyone is into rediculas comedy, but this one took the cake. I've paced up and down isles looking for this one. If they can put lame shows on DVD, then they can humor us by putting "House of Buggin'" on there as well.
I loved this show when I was a kid. I would buy it for myself and as gifts to my firends if they were to ever release a DVD!!
One funny skit ENTIRELY: Save the Pinatas. Everything else blew.
ewe!
Think this was a bad show? Ever seen the CSS is LA?
Yikes...talk about some stupid stuff.
BEST SHOW EVER! I will be the first one to buy this dvd (please come out soon!). I feel sorry for the guy with the Koji comment... it seems he was a little upset that the white audience came in dead last... hang in there, there's always soap operas... Leguizamo was/is hilarious! Unfortunate that they didn't give this show a chance!
Um, pinata sanctuary? I freaking loved that show and would buy it immediately if it were to be offered on DVD. I was only 8 or 9 years old but remember that sketch more vividly than I remember relatively significant events of my early childhood!
I read in John Leguizamo's book that when they cancelled this show they (Fox) took the whole premise and made MAD TV with it. Too bad that show didn't work out, but John Leguizamo is one of my favorite actors. And he seems like a cool person too. I'd love to meet him.
I'd stab my mother to get this show on DVD!
All I wanna know is when will someone please put House of Buggin on DVD. I'd stand in line in the rain to buy a copy. I think it was one of the Funniest shows of all time.
As much as I like John Leguizamo, this show came on at a time when In Living Color had already been mining ethnic humor for years. It was an obvious attempt to copy the Wayans family business wile narrowing the target audience even further. Add to this the fact that Fox clearly had little to no patience or faith in the show. They wanted an immediate success a la ILC, and when it didn't take off instantly they disowned it.
John Leguizamo is as untalented and unfunny as they get. If not for Hollywood's need to sprinkle their movies with token Latins, Leguizamo would never get work. Yeah, a Latin ripoff of "In Living Color". That will get them watching in Iowa.
Bad "Culture Clash" rip-off. No one even remembers them but they are much smarter, cooler, funnier, and sexier than John Leguizamo. Bring "Culture Clash" back!!!!
Any show that had John Leguizamo come out on stage in skin-tight T-shirts and tight leather pants (often both at the same time) won my “eye candy” vote to keep me watching for at least a little while (and not to forget the male dancer that would go to it between commercial breaks)!!! Really, though it’s unfortunate this show wasn’t given much time to develop before the ax fell on it. It did have some potential IMO, but needed to find an audience and get some snappier writing once it did. I can recall watching early “Mad TV” which it seems to me started up around that time and didn’t think it was very funny. From hearing reports here & there it was still going on I recently saw reruns of it on Comedy Central and I gave some of the later stuff a second chance and it was pretty funny – much, not all of it. It just goes to show how something can turn around before someone pushes the panic button and kills it off prematurely!!
I used to work on this show. It was only taken off the air because of it's unfunny head writer/executive producer husband n wife team that John fired because they were morons. After they left Fox started playing games with our time slot and got us canned. - And to the moron who made the Koji comment, the character was Koji ONO, the fictitious brother of YOKO ONO, who had a talk show with guests that were relatives of famous people - He was speaking like that because Yoko Ono spoke like that. If you don't understand the humor, don't criticize it. - Great show that didn't get a real chance and if it had would have been one of the best.
