When did "In The House" jump the shark.. It jumped right after the 4th season finale with Alfonso Riberio's character (Max) and Lark Voohires (Mercedes) wedding.. It was a wrap and the show was D.0.A. by the fifth season. That final season was AWFUL!!
i believed the show jumped the shark when toni left and when tiffany left. when that happened the show just became family and unfunny
In the House was a favorite show of mine. I hate when people say a show jumped from Day One! How can you climax when you are just getting started? I hate to be overly technical, but I don't think some people grasp what "jumping the shark" means! That's like saying a show JTS because of something that happened *outside* show! Whah?! Anyway, I must say that ITH NEVER jumped! I know! I know! It went through more changes than Joan Rivers and Dolly Parton combined, but it was still an interesting show! I remember watching it one day (the later days when they were in the gym) and thinking- Wow! the most gorgeous men and women on TV are on this show! This is better than the real world! I was and still am a big LL fan. He proves that rappers can act. Fun show, I miss it very much.
'In the House' jts when Debbie Allen left. The only reason the show didn't get cancelled sooner was because of Fresh Prince. With that said Alfonso Riberio didn't ruin this show. Debbie Allen wasn't the star of the show. LL Cool J was the shows premise. Jackie needed help with the kids and the house so Dorian comes to help out. When Austin and Jackie left that should've been the end. It really didn't make sense to go any further. I guess you could say Dorian bought the house from Jackie. Why didn't her daughter leave too? Maia Campbell was fired anyways. Kim Wayans wasn't funny at all. She was loud and obnoxious. Alfonso Ribiero was the only good thing on this show. Anyways this was just another show that was a waste of our time.
This show jumped from day one. I don't know whose idea it was to pair Debbie Allen and LL Cool J in a sitcom but it wasn't too bright. These two had absolutely no chemistry and the kid who played Debbie's son was a big snooze. Debbie Allen must have done this for the money, I cannot fathom any other reason for this debacle. And it just got worse when Debbie left and Kim Wayans joined the cast. This show was a complete embarrassment for all involved.
In The House was fantastic, but it jumped twice; firstly, when Jackie and Austin left because there wasnt much of an explanation or anything. The arrival of Kim Wayans was the best idea the show had and I disagree with the people who said that Max (Alfonso) was a bad idea because he was the butt of some of the funniest jokes. The second time it jumped was when Kim Wayans left; they lost the most outrageous character and it became just another show without a great deal of comedy value (although LL was still FINE). The more minor characters (Raynelle, Karl) and some new characters (LL's new girl and her kid) were given bigger roles to try and fill up the void left by Kim but never succeeded. Maia Campbell should have never cut her hair either. They should have a reunion with all the characters together!
Jumped shark when the Debbie Allen character relocated for job, leaves LLCoolJ (remember now, that stands for Ladies Love Cool James- and I am one of those ladies- still a fan) as head of household -- adding Kim Wayans was a plus, however, still an indication of "downhillness" - changing of characters and principle site/set.Cute kid element (Austin) was gone.
I dunno, I don't agree with anyone...this show is still my favorite show...it's funny, and L.L.Cool J needs his props on this!! he is a great actor, and i think he did a great job, and so called 'Carlton'which is not his name, was good in this show!!!!
I personally liked this show and enjoyed getting a half-hour of Debbie Allen after her hilarious cameos on such shows as "A Different World" also I liked seeing LL in a different light. But then it went to hell in 3 hand baskets: #1: When Debbie Allen left after just one season. I don't now why, but does it seem strange to anyone else why her character would leave her children in the care of a has-been football player/new-age guru that looks like LL Cool J. I'm surprised this show hasn't totally tanked his career. To the hip-hop powers that be this is the epitome of sell out. #2. When it changed networks from NBC to UPN. Everyone should know by now, changing networks is the kiss of death, especially if it's changing for the worse. I didn't even now it was possible: Family Matters (ABC to CBS) and looked what happened to it, not to mention The Hughleys (ABC to UPN) and The PJs (FOX to UPN?! - explain that one). #3: When they changed the music. I loved the opening song! . I thought it totally captured the spirit of the show. I am not even going to comment on the additon of Alphonso Ribiero (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Carlton) to the cast.
