never jumped, love it :)
Loved House when he wasn't such a swell-headed guy and was just a brilliant albeit crabby, eccentric doctor trying to solve a medical mystery. The finale this season was horrible! How incredibly sappy and ridiculous: a true Whale of a jump. Unless the writers get back to basics, this show is definitely passed its prime. And this from a viewer who watched ONLY this show on a regular basis.
I'm torn as to whether House jumped this season or not. I really REALLY hate the whole "reality show" format for choosing a new team. It was a stupid plot device and left a bad taste in my mouth. My preference would be to have the old team re-assemble but I know that will never happen.

Sigh. I think the reason I hesitate to say it's jumped is because I absolutely loved this show for three seasons and I just don't want to let go of it. I've hoped it would return to its former glory at some point but it's just not happening. The writing is not up to par, the plot devices are too artificial, and the chemistry between the characters has been upset.

Yes, I still watch, but with a groan and a grimace usually. Bring back the House that I knew and loved...While I'm an advocate for change -- it's good for all of us, encourages creativity and new modes of thought, but it's not a good thing when the change is ill-thought and drains the lifeblood out of a wonderful creation.
My 11 year old son asked what they would do if a patient really had lupus since they diagnose every patient with it in every episode.

Used to be my favorite. Definitely jumped this season.
Omigod, "reality show elimination of interns" with a FLOWER? This is HOUSE we're talking about, people!!!

Jumped the Shark, no doubt about it
I've just seen "Whatever it takes". That’s it. House jumped the shark. What used to be great in House was that it was a more or less ordinary man facing more or less ordinary patients. You didn’t really see the writers crafting the scripts so beautifully. Now, it looks like the writers are trying to outsmart each other with the most far-fetched ideas they can think of(a woman seeing dead people, a leopard man, now Dr House works for the CIA) which wouldn't be that bad if House was still House. And it definitely isn’t. It’s just a caricature of the show.
House has jumped the shark so hard (and so many times) this season that only someone determined to love the show unconditionally could ignore it. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF, DENIERS.

If you don't believe it, go watch an early episode and tell me it isn't a million times less groan-inducing than the recent garbage.

This show ran out of steam some time in the 3rd season, and has since been casually alternating between jumping sharks and just boring episodes. The writers are either different, or have given up.

The bottom line is that I would have preferred some recycled, but still well-written, episodes rather than Survivor: House, dream sequences, and House's new personality (caricature of himself).
I think it came really close to jumping with that elimination game to hire the interns, and I HATE the Taub character. I like Kutner and 13, but I'd rather have the old team back.

The finale, however, was brilliant. It remedied what could have been a disastrous season. I hated Amber in the beginning, but I grew to love her when I saw how good she was for Wilson. I was sobbing at the end, lol. Her final moments with Wilson were beautiful. We all know Wilson will forgive House, but it will be hard. It was partially House's fault. Getting drunk is irresponsible. He had to call Wilson because he got so drunk, the bartender took his keys away. Amber came for him as a favor, because Wilson was on call, but drunken House had a fight with her because she wouldn't stay and drink with him, storming out without his cane and taking the bus. That's why Amber stepped onto the bus: to return House's cane. If House had simply not gotten drunk, Amber never would have boarded the bus. House has finally felt the consequences of irresponsible behavior, and I can't wait to see how it affects him in the next season.

BTW, to the person who was wondering: 13 has Huntington's, not Parkinson's. Huntington's is a degenerative genetic disease for which there is no cure. She will die a hideous, slow, painful death at a young age. Her mother had it, meaning she had a 50% chance of inheriting the genetic defect; however, she didn't muster the courage to test herself until the finale.
Hope Dr House comes out of the closet next season. He must be true to himself.
This final soppy episode jumped a whale. The doe eyed Wilson begging for medical services by saying "House, its Amber." The beautiful young doctor/patient dying while her dedicated physician and helpless lover look on. This could have been a spin off of General Hospital. Pathetic, trite and a remake of every bad soap opera. Felt like they brought in a ghost writer.
Hope next season House goes back to the old team and learns some new diseases. You'd think his team would know to test for lupus and sarcoidosis by now.
House has jumped for me because of his new team and how the show handles the old team.

House's new team just sucks. Kumar the minority needs to go back to White Castle, 13 isn't bad but she is just another "Cameron", and I hate plastic surgeon guy I just want to punch him in the face.

They should of kept Amber on the team. Her character is more dynamic and there is lots of tension with House.

The way the show is structured the old team should not be involved daily as they have supposedly moved on to other jobs but the new team sucks so much the producers needed to bring back Chase, Cameron, and Foreman.

I am done with House.
Hey stupid, you do know its just a TV show right? You act like these people are real. wow
Kinda silly when House agreed to get his frontal lobe stimulated so he could remember things. Sure seemed like regular dreaming was exposing enough. "Hey House, get ten minutes of shut-eye and I'm sure you'll have the diagnosis".

Yeah, Amber had some great gams, but 13 is also a looker. Too bad she's got Parkisons (whatever that means).

This is the first season I've watched of this series. It seems like House is kind of sarcastic and bitter. Is that limited to this season?
When House decided to hold a Survivor-esque competition to find three new interns, I was so annoyed. None of the three he chose were even remotely interesting. I can hardly watch the show now.
If this season had "House" ascending the ramp, the finale certainly cleared the tank by a wide WIDE distance.

How has this series jumped...let me count the ways:

1. Stale plots/tired outcomes - Really, House has so many "lightbulb" moments, you'd think he'd start writing this crap down. For the smartest guy in the room, he spends the first 50 minutes getting everything wrong. If I had that kind of track record and lives were at stake, I'd be in the unemployment line faster than you can say, "creativity on life support".

2. The all-benevolent, non-existent insurance industry - uh, just sign here and we'll go ahead and perform this unnecessary invasive surgery, episode after episode, without any element of the health insurance industry nightmare to speak of. Why of course we're cleared to drill a THIRD time into your skull since there's no proof there's anything wrong up there. This won't cost a penny...

3. House's leg - Amputation oughta cure that.

4. Obligatory sexually deviant hot chick/genius student doctor - Uh... no.

5. Amber/Wilson death scene - Why couldn't they both die, like Romeo and Juliet? If you're going to jump, jump dammit!

About the only thing that makes sense on this show is Kumar. At least he comes across like a wet-behind-the-ears student doctor. Maybe the only realistic character left on this show, for all his ineptness. House should be dead/fired/locked away by now. What are they waiting for?
