I was 7 when this show was on, and was transfixed for some reason. The theme song has been bugging me since 1980- any have it anywhere? I'd be willing to pay no money, but give you the peace of mind that you are a good person.
I remember watching this with my mom as a kid. I thought it was a spinoff of Soap with the lead female as the same character (my mom and I were big Soap fans), thanks to this site to straighten me out. Anyway, that woman was a cutie!
It's too bad this one never captured an audience. It was a cute storyline. And, I think, it was a good basic plot for a time of increasing single mothers and parents growing older.
Anyone remember this one? Diana Canova as Danny Thomas's daughter. He was a dentist whose wife ran off with his partner, and who moved in with his daughter and granddaughter. His son and daughter-in-law were also regulars, and Martin Short was a co-worker of Diana's at a think thank, though for some reason in the last few episodes they and their other cohorts were somehow now working at a newspaper. The son in one episode parked in a handicapped zone "Just to get some butter". I have never forgotten that line, and it became a private joke in my family. As long as were on the subject of Diana Canova, you can count her among the Ted McGinley types. She has several dead show since leaving "Soap" a year before starring on this series. Several others followed this one. Remember "Foot in the door," "Throb" (though that one wasn't too bad) and "Home Free" (with Matthew Perry). At least he found success after that one. But I'm afraid the same can't be said about Diana Canova. This jumped form the beginning.
