OK, I get that Joanie and Chachi moved from Milwaukee to Chicago. What I don't understand is how they moved from the mid-'60s to the early '80s...then back again when JLC tanked and they went scurrying back to Happy Days, tails between their legs. Did I miss the episode where Chachi built his own time machine?
This show wasn't great I'll agree. However, it might have stood a chance when HD was in it's prime! Was anybody watching HD by the time JLC was spun off anyway????
JLC jumped the shark the exact minute that Gary Marshall thought up this crap. To the credit of HD, LAS, and MAM: those shows at least started off pretty good before crapping out. This thing wreaked from day 0. Just the concept iteself was inane. Honestly, who in their right mind would tune in to see Happy Day leftovers. We're not talking leftovers from when it was good. We're talking leftovers from when HD had jumped the shark. It's unbelievable how imcompetent producers can be.
With good writers, this would have been a good show. Writing and storylines are everything.

Joanie and Chachi were my favorite characters on HD, and Erin Moran an incredibly underrated actress. She hit just the right notes as the "little sister"... very funny. Then she got older and pretty and Chachi got handsome. But to do the spinoff and use such terrible writers - why?

Sometimes you have to take a good hard look at the producers, and I think Gary whatever-his-name was got sloppy and greedy - he basically did the same thing when he moved Laverne & Shirley to L.A. Sloppy. And proves that just because a producer has one good idea, doesn't mean he's all that smart.
To whoever wrote Erin Moran a letter:

ARE YOU RETARDED?

Hmmmmm....today I think I'll write a letter to that jacka$$ who played Jim Bob on the Waltons. Tomorrow, I'll write one to the lady who played the maid who replaced Mrs. Garett on Diff'rent Strokes.
Oh, & I'll write one to the mom from BH 90210.....
The episode that made this show truly JTS was the one where Chachi saw Joanie using a cucumber on herself and then started to cry when Joanie said he wasn't half the man that the cuke was. That ep made no sense whatever.
Jumped day one. I couldn't believe anyone actually green lighted that crap. This makes the series After MASH watchable.
To the posters below, Joanie was a minor character on "Happy Days" till Ron Howard quit, then the show focused on her and Chachi and continued focusing on Fonzie.

The show did so well without Richie that Joanie and Chachi, along with Al were given their own show, set in Chicago. This bombed and the charcaters of Joanie and Chachi moved BACK to Milwaukee. Al did not return as a regular. This spin-off happened DURING "Happy Days," with KC as Howard's niece to fill the "Joanie role," and Flip as Rogers brother to fill the "Chachi role."

JLC was a cheap attempt to make them the Beatles. I mean BINGO the drummer. Come on that's RINGO. The fact that Scott Baio could not sing hurt the show mostly.
Dear God, how did we ever allow this to happen?
To the person who got a letter from erin moran: I guess she was taking her meds that day. This woman is a complete wack job, and she looks like she is about 60. Think that cld be la lohan in 20 yrs
A classic example of a spinoff that should never have happened.
ABC must had no faith in this show, but took a shot...Put it on after Happy Days, then moved it to thursday to face Magnum PI,then back to tuesday and fed it to Mr.T and his A-Team....Chachi yo happy days are over,FOOL!!
The show was actually on when Happy Days was still on.
I thought Joanie and Chachi were married on the last epidsode of Happy Days!!! Yet, in this show they are boyfriend and girlfriend!
This dog jumped even before the show first aired! Both Joanie and Chachi jumped while they were still on Happy Days. Joanie was one of the least used characters on Happy days when it was still a good show, and only began appearing more after it had already JTS at least three times. By then, our dreaded patron saint, Ted McGinley, was a regular and very few people were watching anymore. Chachi jumped when he began uttering his horribly annoying catch phrase on HD - "Wa-wa-wa-wa'.... AGH!

Here's a great idea! Let's take a minor character from HD, and the most annoying character, and create a spin-off! That'll work! Or maybe not.... Maybe the creators of this show should have tried a different venture. One that had a better chance of succeeding. Like a religious show on MTV....

This show jumped from day 1. Or maybe, as I mentioned, BEFORE day 1!

Peace.
