There never was enough Josie and the Pussycats, and way way way way way too much Alexandra butting into to things and throwing tantrums when her schemes were thwarted. It just got really boring/annoying. I waited and waited for an episode where the Record Label's new Owner/Mob Boss went to one of his hitmen and said "Hey. Sonny. I'll make you my lieutenant if you take the chick with the skunk-on-her-scalp hairdo out and drop her in the East River somewhere."
.
I agree with most people who say the show jumped when the Pussycats & crew was launched into Outer Space. While I like some of the Outer Space episodes, was it really necessary to do that? I guess the one thing I didn't care much for about the Outer Space episodes was Alex. In the original series, he was a chicken, sure, but in the outer space episodes, he was a whining, spineless jellyfish. At least in the original series, he had SOME backbone (check out the chase scene in the episode "Strange Moon Over Miami"). The whining gets annoying pretty fast.
"Josie In Outer Space". C'mon. Even at 5 or 6 years old, I knew that was friggin' stupid.
Josie and The Pussycats was one of the best Hanna Barbera cartoons ever. I agree with all the people who said this show jumped when they went to outer space. It was a great show up till then.
Josie NEVER jumped the shark. All the elements of the first series were still there. The only thing that changed was the location. Granted, the animation quality wasn't as good, but it was still a great show.

And for those of you who think Josie is a rip off of Scooby Doo, you're wrong. Josie was first introduced in comic book form in 1962. Scooby Doo didn't come into being until 1969.
When I was a teenager (during the original run) I knew I was lied to when I saw tie in books saying HB created the show in the Josie and the ctas in space one-ARCHIE comics and DANIEL DEFREEAKING CARLO owned it! NOT HANNA BARBERA (thier contemporayr SCOOBY-DOO would be a different story as would JABBERJAW).!

Alexandera, though, at least unlike her Archie parent series counterpart Veronica was at elast true to her bitchyness. (Filmation did not even use VERONICA, just a second Betty:)) At least no Drugs or redundant ending and ALexandra was the Sharpay of High school Musical (or Hairspray's Velma Von Tussleor the day.)_

But the Ronnettes or (fill in counterpart girl group of day) no-the pussyctas aint.
Hello. job! good Thank for you ,
This was my favorite cartoon as a kid, and it SUCKED big time when they went outer space. I hated that!!! And I hated that they didn't have the original singers as in the 1st season (I saw Patrice Holloway on Soul Train and I knew she was the singing voice of Valerie). I even hated that damn Bleep alien (whatever it was) - what was even sadder was that they made Sebastian JEALOUS of that damn Bleep! What the hell?!
Josie & the Pussycats, to me at least, is a transcendent cartoon show; the episodes from it's first year, 1970 were the best and I even consider Josie & the Pussycats- the music group(Cathy Dougher, Cheryl Ladd & Patrice Holloway) with their songs INSIDE, OUTSIDE, UPSIDE DOWN, LIE, LIE ,LIE, and EVERY BEAT OF YOUR HEART my 2nd favorite oldies act (second only to Petula Clark). The first 16 shows were respectably worthwile but I have to say that when Josie and the cats went to the black hole of outer space in 1972, you know it jumped the shark. Another difficiency about the series was that the trio of Dougher, Ladd (or, as Cheryl was then billed, as Moor, and Holloway was nowhere to be heard. Despite being back on Earth (without explanation) for their 1973 guest appearance on the Scooby Doo movies, the damage had already been done
This was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I loved the romantic triangle they developed with Josie and Alexandra fighting over Alan. Actually, Alexandra did all the fighting. Alan was completely devoted to Josie. Unfortunately, the show jumped when they took it outer space. What the hell were they thinking?
Josie and the Pussycats definitely jumped when they went to outer space. Everyone says they copied Scooby Doo, and it's even acknowledged in the second episode of the entire series, when the gang stumbles upon missing Alexandra, who says "Who were you expecting, Scooby Doo?"
"Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space." Has any show been improved by moving the characters to outer space? Think about it--would you watch any of these: "Sanford & Son in Outer Space," "Petticoat Junction in Outer Space," "CHiPs in Outer Space," or "Night Court in Outer Space?" This show did have the greatest cartoon theme song ever.
Most people don't know that the lead singer of those songs in Josie & The Pussycats was a black woman named Patricia Holloway. She even appeared on Soul Train once. Patricia was also the voice of Valerie. The cartoon should have been called Valerie and the Pussycats!
Josie and the Pussycats was an interesting show,I felt.Sure, the characters were stereotyped-but,as Jeckle used to tell Heckle,"This is only a cartoon."I felt the presence of,"old friends,"as I noticed how Josie sounded like Judy Jetson(Janet Waldo),Alex sounded like Shaggy(Casey Kasem)and Melody was voiced by Jackie Joseph, whom I remember from many shows and films-especialy the 1959 classic The Little Shop of Horrors.(Audrey Senior.Chuckle!)I am not sure, but I think Cherrie Moore(whom we all know as Cherryl Ladd now)was the lead singing voice.I even liked the series where they were in outer space...although I wish there was a definite homecoming episode.
Never Jumped and here's why: Alexandra. Without her, the show would be a copycat of Scooby Doo and numerous others. With her, the cartoon adds another dimension. She is a selfish, scheming, jealous bitch; a rare comedic jewel among the untold thousands of "good girl" cartoon characters. Alexandra rocks!
