This show was FREAKIN' HILARIOUS back in the day. And you're all right... If it jumped, it was the "exit... stage left" of all the Wayans'. But specifically, I think it was Damon's departure that hurt the most.
But isn't that the fate of all sketch comedy shows? Eventually, their best performers are gonna get too big to be on a sketch comedy show. Same thing happened to SNL, losing Sandler, Ferrell, etc.

The show definitely jumped the shark when the "real" Wayans (Damon, Keenen, Kim) left. The reruns jumped mainly due to the dramatic increase in political correctness since the show's debut and the reruns' move to BET. BET now censors certain words (mainly the one meaning female dog) which could be considered offensive. For instance, the "Men On Vacation" sketch had the last word of the phrase "Holland, land of dykes" partially muted.

Jumped when Keenan Ivory Wayans left. The show still had it's moments, but the skits started to get less and less clever. And I was never a fan of Jim Carrey. Out of all the people on that show, I never would've expected him to be the one to make it really big. His characters were all one-note and seemed to be geared more towards small children than teenagers and adults.
Show jumped when the Wayans left, no doubt about it!!! The skits that they did were so hilarious, Men on Film, Brother's Brothers, Homey the Clown, Benita Butrell. When they left, the skits just stunk!!!
In Living Color- where to begin? The Wayans ruled this show- all 37 of them. Keenan, Damon (Bulletproof wasn't THAT bad), Kim, Shawn, Marlon, Michael, Tito and the rest- they were all hilarious. (When they left, it just wasn't the same.) Jim Carrey was brilliant (I know all of you Carrey haters were laughing at his scenes; this homey don't play that). David Alan Grier had his best years here (and as Rev. Love on Martin). Tommy Davidson delivered laughs on many occasions. Kim Coles and T'Keyah were fine ladies that kept me cracking up as well, and Jamie was hilarious as Wanda.
How can one show give us so much? Fire Marshall Bill. The Jamaican family (Hey Mon!). Homie the Clown. The Bros. Brothers. Blaine Edwards and Anton Meriweather, the Men on Film. Wanda, Vera, the Dirty Dozens, and Handi-Man.
Not to mention Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Perez, and a little known dancer by the name of Carrie Ann Inaba. This show and Martin might be enough to crown FOX as funniest network of the 90's (no disrespect to NBC). Peace!

I love and loved this show. The Wayan brothers were masters. I felt and still feel that ILC helped so many young actors in their careers regardless of race. J Low complains about how much she was mistreated as a FlyGirl... Well She is doing ok now aint she? Guess ILC did some of that for her. This show broke the bounderies that Saturday Night Live wouldn't. David Alan Griers is a genious. In summary, this program did so much for so many upcoming actors. All the while making us laugh. There is no person on this posting that can say they have never laughed their ass off while watching In Living Color.
It maxed out when the fly girl performances were cut back and the choreography lost its edge. In the first two seasons, you could always count on the ladies to gear up the audience by dancing their opening number to the explosive theme music followed by the anticipation of two more routines during the broadcast. In Season 3 however, a slower paced song replaced the original score and the girls were dropped from the opening sequence. This cost the show its initial momentum. By Season 4, nearly all of the original fly girls had been replaced and, in Season 5, you were lucky to see even one, often mediocre, performance per show.
Up up and away!
Never underestimate the power of the handicapped.
The show lost its appeal when the Wayans left.

This show was classic comedy in the beginning, but after the Wayans left it went downhill fast.Only Carrey kept it from being a total mess.
Too much Wanda was the sharp jumping moment. It was the same skit over and over and over and over again. We get it, she's ugly and is after Tommy Davidson in his underwear. It was funny the first 78 skits they produced with Wanda - the last 343 were just stupid.
To the poster a few rungs down, Fire Marshal Bill said "Lemme SHOW ya somethin'" - not "Lemme tell you something."
Some of the funniest skits on the show were the non-recurring ones.
HUNTING ELVIS from Season 1 was a masterpiece - "He's Charging!!!!" Jim Carrey once said it was his favorite skit.
Others -
Joe Clark's Beauty School
Damon Wayans and Carrey playing the corrupt preachers - they appeared in 2 skits I believe
The Buttmans

Man! The music video parodies...are CLASSIC. I won't buy the DVD, until they put those on. I recorded it long time ago on a tape...and I can't find the tape ANYWHERE...it was the best episode, including the Jodeci performance in the end. If anyone hears of them putting that out on dvd, holla! If anyone has that espisode on tape, please holla, I'll buy a copy. Man, they don't even show it in the rerun episodes. I really wonder why they don't show anymore, legal issues?
