the show not only moved from orly to georga but they renamed it LOBO, the classic beginning song with the cars crashing was replaced with ray charles singing "georgia" and a helicopter shot of the city, that's when the show got bad because it was trying to be a serious show, kind of, and lobo was no longer a crooked bafoon but a real cop.
Why did they even make this show? Sheriff Lobo was a fairly funny character. But they needed more than that to keep people tuning in.
They ruined BJ and the Bear by spinning this show off on its own,but I also never understood why this show has been forgotten when it seemed Dukes Of hazard was such a copy and even worse yet.
There is a man a legend tells, who stands for what is right. Like Wyatt
Earp he never shirks, or cowards from a fight. He is our Sheriff Lobo,
mighty Sheriff Lobo. Heart of gold, oh Lobo--Keep us strong! He has no
fear, he's always here, his morale stands alone. A man of dreams, who
guards our things as if they were his own. He walks the streets from
early dawn, he stands behind our laws. Both big and small, he bends them
all, who dares to fight his cause. He is our Sheriff Lobo, mighty
Sheriff Lobo. Heart of gold, oh Lobo--Keep us strong. Keep us strong.
Keep us strong. Keep us strong. Keep us strong. (move 'em out!)

Either TvLand or ION Television should bring this awesome show back! Loved it so much named my first born after Deputy Perkins! Mills Watson was the best! I got tears coming out of my eyes right now from laughing when i think of this show. Is it out on DVD yet?
Perkins, where are you? The Jungle cat....D@mn, this was a good show. I only like the 1st season. They should have never left Orly county. Everything I saw this show, I laughed tears. TV land, bring this show back...please, as well as six million dollar man and bionic woman.
Remember the theme song? ( He's our sheriff Lobo...Heart of gold old lobo...He was strong.....He was strong..). Then we would see all those cars crashing at the end. Pure and utter bliss. Hope that song get's stuck in your head like it did mine.
"The Jungle Cat stalks his prey..." Deputy Perkins was hilarious! He was one of the funniest characters ever developed. The move to Atlanta and grumpy characters there killed this show before it really got momentum.
They even had a shark on one of the episodes! Sheriff Lobo and Deputy Perkins were in a rowboat at night trying out a radio controlled mechanical shark, intending to use it to disrupt a soon to be held fishing derby. They didn't know that the Bad Guys of the Week had somehow planted a real shark in the lake. Meanwhile their radio controlled shark beached itself and was out of action. So, the real shark is bashing their boat up, and Sheriff Lobo says to Perkins, "Wow, that's great! Let's see what else it can do!" You just don't get funnier shark resistant moments!
it was interesting how lobo appeared to have cleaned up his act a little bit but still managed to work a side scam only to have birdy ruin it on him by being a voice of reason
Sheriff Lobo in its second season was really desperate when it snagged Playboy's 25th Anniversary Playmate Candy Loving as a guest star. She couldn't act if her life depended on it and her acting career and Sheriff Lobo both went down the tubes.
Being a big BJ and the Bear fan (did I just admit to that?), I loved the Lobo character. While the show's move to Atlanta sealed the deal on the show's demise, I think it jumped the shark when they cut the opening song about what a cool guy Sheriff Lobo was, ending with "Move 'em out,", the multi-police car crash, and Lobo shaking his head.
Sheriff Lobo was one of the few shows that was so bad it was actually a classic. Sort of the Married...With Children of its day. Claude Akins was great in the title role and Mills Watson was hilarious as bumbling Deputy Perkins. Like an earlier poster stated (and I'm paraphrasing) this show was all that Dukes of Hazzard aspired to be but could never become.
