to Brittany: I too am an African-
American woman, and I am aware that other races behave foolishly, but unfortunately we as black folks are stereotyped as being loud, wrong and out of control. Anyone who has doubts of this should look at the average reality or talk show. I also have a problem with full-figured women being stereotyped as being desperate and pushy. If you look at Monique's televison and movie appearances, she has made a career out of this. I'm sorry that you thought that I was white because I don't accept low class behavior and self- degradation as the normal way to be. I care about my community, and the way my people are portrayed. I also think Monique deserves better. Peace.

DAY ONE! It's another predictable, boring, idiotic, unfunny "urban" show with the same old lame "urban" plots, such as the "It's your baby" storyline, the "I'm not really your daddy" storyline, the "let's go to a haunted house" storyline, the "we both won a contest and now we have to learn how to share the grand prize" storyline, the "let's go back in time" storyline, the "AIDs" storyline, and a bunch of others the we have seen in other crappy "urban" sitcoms a billion times.

Day one. It was bad enough that Kim was such an irritating dimwit, but Countess Vaughn is such a terrible actress that she couldn't even make her a watchable irritating dimwit.
All of you people who continue to bash that one really sad episode clearly have no hearts in any shape or form. You guys all know what episode I'm talking about. It's the episode where the character T falls in love with the person of his dreams, but later finds out that she has HIV and that she has known this horrible fact for three years now.
Get ready to get really angry when you read the following statement! Finally, A Very Special Episode was written which did not stink or shove the topic down your throat! It's rare that watching a sitcom will ever make me cry. However, that episode hit the nail on the head about such a very touchy and controversial subject without being too preachy or sounding disrespectful to people who go through things like that. The part where I finally started to cry was at the very end of the episode, right before the credits started rolling. It was when Kim, who was an annoying idiot most of the time on the show, told Nikki and I quote, "Wow, you know... I can't beilieve that Ty has AIDS. I mean, she looks so healthy." I never forgot that line and the sad point that it makes. You can never tell during the first few years just by looking at a person.

This is in response to M. Wilson's comment, DO NOT make racially gestured comments about black women, or black people period, unless you have proven facts that all african american women out there damage property and threaten and chase their men. I am a black woman, and proud, except when I read ignorant statements like that. To categorize a whole race, and sex that way, is exactly the reason why racism and stereotypes are still alive and thriving, and will NEVER die. All women behave one way or another whether they be white, black, chinese, spanish, blue black or gray, It is just that it is more interesting to society when black women do it. Open your damn eyes. Nikki Parker(a black woman) is not the only woman that has chased a man that did not want to pursue her, woman of all races do it. Get more educated before you form opinions
This is in response to everyone's ignorant ass comments about the show, The Parkers. Why do you'll think the show was a flop?, because it is a black oriented show, that just shows how narrow minded, 80% of you people are. So what that Nikki is a big, beautiful, black woman, that is proud of what she has and is willing to show that confidence, and so what that Kim played a character that is made to look dumb and is not a size 2, Take the show for what it is worth, You do not have to watch it. I like the show, for my own personal reasons, but they have nothing to do with anyone's appearance, personality, character portrayal or personal life outside of the show. I happened to stumble onto this website, but I wish that I did not because people that make comments like you do, don't deserve to have anyone read them. Grow the hell up, and stop being like most of ignorant ass society is which is materialistic and all about looks. P.S. Oh yeah and yes,an african american show can be successful.
mo'nique or MOO'nique was great, but she never delivered the quintuplets she carried during the five seasons of the show.
The professor married her at the end, SPOILER: Moo'NIque kidnapped his family, he had no choice. He killed himself the next day.
Countess looked like she could not stay away from the Count Chocola cereal.
Jennay Von Oy! now that girl had a sweet booty. She should have gotetn her own show.

I was a casual fan of "The Parkers", and found it a guilty pleasure.Yes, the characters and situations seem silly anf improbable, but the same can be said of "Gilligan's Island". The problem is that there are few show on television that reflect the broad spectum of Afican-American life' so the the few shows that are on don't please all of the critics. When "The Cosby Show" was on the air, some people didn't think that the Huxtables "kept it real", but they represented another facet of the black experience. Also, don't hate on Mo'nique. I think she is a very attactive woman, and has made a success of herself as an actress and a comic (comedy is largely a male dominated world).
Countess Vaughn could play dumb and still be endearing. She was the only reason to watch this show. The relationship between Nikki and the Professor is disturbing. Unfortunately in the black community, there are too many cases of women acting like idiots by destroying property and threatening other women over some man like the Professor who doesn't even want them. Then after years of being stalked by this fool, he's in love with her? Completely ridiculous.
It jumped when they lessened the role of Stevie. Getting her tossed from the apt, then breaking her up with T. It left the writing to very repetitive sceanaros that have already been well mentioned above. Jenna Von Oy is a fantastic actress and they just did not utilize her enough on the show. Were the mains counting lines , or something??
