Uhh, ReOL, Check-Out was never retired to start with, and Balance Game just happens to have the same name as an earlier pricing game. It's not the same one that was retired.
Does Price Is Right's new pricing game, Gas Money, suggest the producers are running out of creative gas? It's a blatant Deal Or No Deal rip-off as well as Five Price Tags with the element of risk thrown in.
Drew is no Bob Barker, but I think he's better. He seems to describe the games easier than Bob did (Sorry, but Barker usually used wrong words, or jibberish, since day one.), and throws in a joke or two.
I think the problem with the revamp is that Fremantle rules the roost now, and trainwrecked the set, the theme song (and some revamped music clips), and the storylines for the showcases are bland (ahh, the good ol' days of "Captain Klutz").
Another part that hurts, and it's neither Fremantle's or the producer's fault, is that it's getting too hard to make new pricing games. There was only "Stack the Deck" for 2K8. Since motorized games were revamped to human power, they should bring back more retired games. TPiR says they never do that, but that doesn't explain "Balance Game", or "Chack-Out".

When I found out Rod Roddy passed away, I was like "wow, there goes a good key part of Price is Right" because I thought he was the best announcer for the show.
Then when I found out Bob Barker had left I figured "There goes the Price is Right" because nothing had good chemistry in the show than Rod Roddy and Bob Barker.
Now that Drew Carey is hosting, it just doesn't feel the same anymore. These have been 2 huge jump the shark moments for the Price is Right. A once great game show, but I fear for it's future.

TPIR jumped gradually over the years when they shorted the length a show that is essentially a bunch of commercials to make room for even more commercials. Much of the old banter between the host and the contestant got the axe, so did many of the longer pricing games, only to be replaced by games that take only one minute to complete so they can flash to more commercials.
Who did DC sleep with to get this job, anyway? Anyone who has ever seen any of his previous work would have known instantly that he is all wrong for a show like TPIR. I admit that he's got his niche, and I love him when he's in his element, but this type of fast-moving, up-beat game show isn't it.
DC is just too slow, geeky and awkward for a show that relies on a host with charisma and a spark. It's not DC's fault -- he should never have been given the job in the first place...he doesn't understand what he's doing wrong, and it's not really something that can be taught. Either someone has it or they don't and I'm afraid that DC just doesn't have this. He's a great comedian in other settings, but here he just comes across as a faltering schmo.

Drew Carey has just been given one more chance to salvage Price Is Right. If the ratings falter during his second season, the 37th year will be Price's last. Other than for Todd Newton, there is no suitable candidate to replace Bob Barker on a permanent basis. The ousting of producer Roger Dobkowitz as well as actor Adam Sandler having more of a behind-the-scenes role have irrevocably doomed this show. Also, no new pricing game has been introduced since More Or Less, the last one launched during the Barker regime. If CBS can't replace this show, they should give the airtime back to its local affiliates for extended local news or other programming.
Garbage goes on behind the scenes of ALL tv shows - and (were you over 40 you would KNOW this) at ALL corporations and other worksites.
In tv, it's what the audience sees on the screen that counts - and NOTHING else, that sponsors pay for. Drew kissing up to every behind-the-scener and trying to make the models "wuv" him by mentioning their names ad nauseum, does zero, zip, nada for the broadcast program. He is a continuing disaster, and no viewer cares about his moods, likes, dislikes, bla bla bla. He owes his bosses a good days work for a good day's pay. He isn't doing that, period. He stinks and they should dump him or he will take the show down with him.
And I'm pretty sure Hi's question was rhetorical, show-off insider guy.

This response is to poster 'hi', who wanted to know who Chris Mann is?
Chris Mann is an author, who is a big television fan as well. He wrote a famous tell-all book about the behind the scenes dramas on the ABC sitcom "Three's Company" in the late 90's (which had the cooperation of everyone on the show except for Priscilla Barnes, who told her sides of the story to her best friend Joyce DeWitt.) He also helped Joyce make the TV movie about the show a few years back, and is in the process of writing a book about the life of John Ritter, besides the upcoming book he is writing about the behind the scenes BS that went on during Barker's reign on "The Price Is Right."
Chris has no grudge against Barker, as one of the highlights of his childhood was when he and his family got to visit with Barker and his late wife Dorothy Jo at their summer vacation home. His view of Barker changed after all of Barker's 'dirty laundry' started to surface after his promotion to executive producer of the show. Believe it or not, Dian wasn't the first one fired from the show - that honor belongs to longtime game show director Marc Breslow, who was the beloved director of that show, and others (especially "Match Game.") He didn't get along with 'the Barker', even though the rest of the cast spoke volumes of him. You might also be interested to know that all of the former models participated in this book, including original model Anitra Ford, who hasn't been heard from since she left Hollywood in 1976, and she had nothing but good things to say about him, as his ego was still in check at that time. Hope that answers your question.

Oh get a clue - Drew t-shirts, are you kidding me? Potential contestants quickly discovered that most of the people who get in contestants row get there because they wear a t-shirt, no matter how stupid looking, that bears Carey's name. Surprise surprise surprise.
Hiliting yet again Barker's class as a host. No such nonsense went on with him as MC. The for-the-most-part absence of these pathetic kiss-up attempts to get onstage during his reign PROVES that he had a policy to bypass the t-shirt kiss-ups and be more fair, not to mention again, classy.
EVERYBODY in the universe now knows that the way to get in contestants row on TPIR is to put the name Drew on a t-shirt.
Again, surprise surprise surprise

When I heard they picked Drew I was sad because I preferred Dave Price, but having said that I think Drew is doing okay. He just seems like he's depressed and trying to cover it up. He always had a low-key style that's better suited to other things than a talk show format, but he's making an effort and at times is loveable and charming. Judging by the amount of Drew t-shirts proclaiming love and admiration, the general public must think he's doing a good job. Price is Right will never be the same, but it's still a good show. Kudos to the producers for hiring models that look like beautiful healthy women, not stick insects with breast implants.
TPIR just won't be the same without Bob Barker. I have no problem with Drew Carrey, but it's just not the same.
