This show jumped in the last two years. Those episodes can be immediately identified by Elaine's hair -- much the same way you leap from your couch to change the channel when you see BJ's mustache on MASH. The problem was in the last two years, there were no straightmen. Everyone was the clown. Comedy doesn't work unless there are stooges present to react to what's happening. Jerry and Elaine had been the reasonable ones who reacted to George and Kramer and Newman. Then, they became "wacky" characters too. Elaine was no longer cute and smart but unattractive and unreasonable and unpleasant. The show became outlandish, unbelivable, and just plain not funny.
"Tank": WOW you've never met someone who didn't like Seinfeld? You should come to my neighbourhood.

The finale could be considered as a JTS moment, The sitcom genre is very durable and lasts for years in syndication and the Seinfeld's finale made loyal fans feel "crappy" that's why after the finale you can never feel the same quality that the show had (in reruns that is)
I'm having a hard time understanding the "it jumped at the finale".

The finale sucked, but it was the end, not a turning point. There's no downward spiral, it's just over.
Who are the people on this site? I have never personlly met someone who did not love Seinfeld.
NEVER jumped it is still one of the best shows of all time and will forever be a classic, in 50 years I bet people will still be watching it!
Never JTS. It is still my favorite sitcom of all time!
3 Things that annoyed me the most from Seinfeld

1-the product placement:- it was like 30-minute-commercial for either Heinekes, junior mints or snapples.

2-how they repeat each others words the entire episode;

3-which lead to forcing catch-phrases on pop culture with a few exceptions of (yada yada and re-gifting)
Such a fantastic so, but such a terrible ending.

Jumped at the finale.
The main characters, mainly in the latter seasons, did not even like each other. There was never absolutely even a glimpse of real comradeship between them, only some sort of accomodation, like "I can´t malke any new friends, so I´ll stick with these".

I think that´s one of the reasons for a lot of people dsisliking the show, because it makes you feel unconfortable due to the ruthlesness of the main characters. Of course, it´s a sitcom, a kind of show that takes vaguely possible real situations in real life and oversize them to sheer parody, otherwise we would not laugh.

But I agree that, viewing the show today, it´s higly dated and one wonder how it managed to get so much success. (I enjoy the show a lot and have all DVD sets, but I try to be reasonable).
this show is pure 100% overrated crap...plain and simple.
Here is the thing: if you find it funny then that's your call (and I feel sorry for you) but how could someone be so delusional to the point of saying this show is actually realistic, which dark corner of the world do you live in if you think it's believable? Ugh and after seeing alot of posts-sadly-alot of you think it is
Some episodes were sorta funny but most of them I found to be pretty lame. As far as it being "anti women", in a way I agree with that. Not so much because of the mainly male and one female cast, but I think alot of it was how Jerry, George and Kramer treated women. Jerry was a notorious womanizer who as soon as he found one minot flaw or oddity in someone he'd just decide to dump her. George was only happy dating women who were dumb and flaky but couldn't handle women who were strong and assertive, which was why he couldn't handle Susan. Even Kramer didn't know how to treat women with respect. Even though the guys mostly treated Elaine like she was just one of the guys, alot of times they were condiscending to her and she did have to put up with alot of crap. And the guys she dated were all losers who mistreated her, like that one guy who told her to shut up whenever his favorite song would come on the radio and then said when Elaine suggested the share a song he refused. All in all, I stopped watching this junk towards the last season. After a while it just became stupid and overrated. My deepest apologies to all the "Seinfeld" fans.
If you call Seinfeld anti-woman, then include the Smurfs -- a group of guys with 1 gal friend who could hang with a bunch of wanks.

Also, the story lines are INFINITELY BETTER than the crap that's on TV these days. Wake up, Eugene Ionesco wants your attention. To wit, from Wikipedia: "Beyond ridiculing the most banal situations, Ionesco's plays depict in a tangible way the solitude and insignificance of human existence."

THAT'S Seinfeld -- the modern reinvention and exploitation of Ionesco's dream to wake people up from their dumb , little lives and experience a greater appreciation of life.

Seinfeld RULES!!!
Greatest show ever,period.
This show was indeed really stupid, but also anti-women.
