I have nothing against responsible hunting, but some of
these over-the-top "Let's kill Bambi" types are laughable. They put me in mind of the hunter portrayed by Graham Chapman on a 'Monty Python'
episode. He strides toward the camera saying, 'Well,
I've been a hunter all my life. I love animals - that's
why I like to kill 'em."
Who cares about Ricky Whatshisname or Jason Whoosit?

Joel Higgins is the hottie of THIS '80s abomination. Oh yeah...he can ride his train through my living room anytime.
Silver Spoons started off as a family show aimed at kids 12 and under. Under that perspective the show not only worked but was funny and clever. However, Once Ricky hit his teens the show did not evolve with him. The writers still were cranking out scripts designd for 12 year olds. So what you end up with is lame prepostorus story lines and scripts that are woefully unrealistic and hoaky. Even when they finaly tried to tackle real teenage problems. It was handled with , no pun intended, "Kid Gloves". Case in point, Season 4. Ricky, or sorry, Rick gets caught with a friend, who has brought beer along with them on a doulbe date with some girls. The cops haul him back to the house where his father grounds him and, get this, hands his some pamphlets about the dangers of Alcohol. Now, Rick reads the phamphlets and is suddenly, miraculously, a preachy, anit-alchol temperance lecturer. PLEASE!!!!! Futhermore, if you watch the episode he puts the can of beer to his lips and then the cops bust him, all the while the beer misses his mouth and spills on the floor. So he never even took a drink! HOAKY, INSULTING, AND JUST PLAIN WRONG! This is a perfect example, This episode would have been more plausable and much more convincing if they did it when Ricky was 12 or 13, not 16! This became the ongoing problem with Silver Spoons. When a show refuses to change and evolve with the kids realisticly disaster is assured.
Shooting the Deer was bad but "the ricker" was sharkbait
This show jumped when Derek (Jason Bateman) left the show. Jason could act heads and heels over Ricky Schroeder. If you watch Ricky when other actors are saying their lines, you'll see his lips moving nonverbally saying their lines, like an amateur actor does. He got better as he aged and got more experience, but this show was cheesy all the way around.

Another JTS moment was Menudo coming in off the train and going into song and you could tell they were lip syncing and where did the background music come from? Totally cheesy!!!
What is this I keep reading about a friend of Ricky's who died breakdancing. Can anyone refresh my memory?

This show jumped after season 2. Though I spent many nights in 1982-83 dreaming of being Ricky's eight year old main squeeze, he started to lose his novelty as the years passed.

Does anyone else remember JT's bitchin' cowboy boots?
This was a good kids show. Too bad NBC no longer has kids or family sitcoms. It is funny though to see the cool hip-hop breakdancing kid "Alfonso Ribeiro" on Fresh Prince as a nerd though.
The theme song was dorky...Kate was perky...NBC was #3 in the ratings, but they had a lot of shows with pretty young women that made you want to tune in.....
It jumped for me when Ricky went from being cute, preppy Ricky and became the vaguely punkish, New Wave monstrosity known as "The Ricker".
hiya everyone im new here and have a simple question about this forum.

where could i add a skype messenger contact to my details page?

thank you in advance
The show was dead after Derrick left. Ricky was too goody two shoes to be funny.
Derrick was a good contrast. Alfonso was brought on solely by order of NBC to capitalize off a commerical. WOW that is lame. The second black guy died in real life of AIDS. BTW is it RICKER or RICKSTER?
What is REALLY a joke is that Fran Drescher played Kate's best friend at the wedding and she spoke NORMAL!!!!!!!
I heard Tom Cruise was up for Rick's role but he thought John Houseman was just too smug.
I hated Alphonso Ribeiro. I almost didn't like Fresh Prince of Bel Air because of him. I was actually thrilled Jason Bateman left. I hated him too.
I started hating this show when I found out that they all had a massive orgy backstage after filming each and every episode.
