Spongebob nowadays is starting to become more like Family Guy, which is an insult. It seems every episode has an uninspired musical number that is about three minutes (too) long. I used to be ableto watch Spongebob and still laugh, but now I cringe whenever that high- pitched voice starts to sing.

Another thing is that Plankton is too many episodes. Most of them aren't even about him stealing the Krabby Patty, but some super- crazy plot that doesn't even make sense. I would like to see a little less Plankton, and a little more Sandy (she is hardly in any more, she wasn't to begin with).
The voice...the voice. It's so high-pitched and irritating now that it almost makes me cry.

The newer episodes are dumb, like that "To Love a Krabby Patty" business, but do you know how much more tolerable they'd be if SpongeBob sounded like he wasn't castrated?

It's the voice, man. The stuff of nightmares
I think the new episodes really suck. I loved spongebob back in 1999 to 2003 or 4 but ever since the fourth season it's been hell and it just keeps getting worse. I saw this episode where Spongebob and Patrick have to be tan to get into this party. It didn't even look like Spongebob. Viacom is stupid for commercializing this show.
This show, content-wise, is starting to inch back to the good side, but is completely ruined by Spongebob's voice. I want to slap Tom Kenny and tell him to go back to the old way.
The writers have fooled the masses of kiddies and their parents but not me.
This show is obscene with phallus shaped doughnuts that fly into male mouths and ejaculate cream, S&M bondage gear, cross dressing and a nasty old perv, begging for a rubdown.
Yes, folks. Things are getting mighty wierd in cartoonland.

Whoever created this abomination of animation is one sick puppy, or should I say slick puppy selling this message to innocent kids and getting away with it. If Nickolodeon had a booty, it should be kicked until it's red and raw for putting this filth on the air. If it has to exist, put it on Adult SWIM. I pray this is not deleted; Parents: WAKE UP!!!!
click this link, this will explain about spongebob's voice change.

Defintley the movie. Or should I say after the movie? The first three seasons and the movie were witty, clever, and funny, and adults and kids could enjoy the shows, but now it's not about witty dialogue or writing anymore, it's just a kid's cartoon.
I never saw the move and I don't like to repeat what has been said over and over again but, this show has become pathetic. Obviously they did want a younger audience! People say it progressively fell but I think it fell instantly early in the fourth season. Fear of a krabby patty would've been good if the voices and animation hadn't changed. But soon after that, the show imploded on itself. Patchy said it right in the lost episode, "Spongebob betrayed us!"
Spongebob was a great show from the first season to 2004 with the Strangler/Pranks A Lot episode probably being the last good episode.

I saw the Movie a few years after it came out on TV, and I really wasnt a fan at all. I'd say from the Movie onwards, the show just started to decline in quality.

One thing that really gets to me in these newer episodes is his nazly high-pitched voice. In the beginning of the show, his voice was on the higher pitched side, but still Tom Kenny did a good job of making him be able to sound sophisticated.

If you watch older episodes of the show, you'll see that the plot was simple yet hilarious only with the regular characters.

In the modern episodes, they seemed to have brought back one-time characters and introduce weird new characters (like spongebobs never before heard-of family members and other unnecessary people). They also seemed to have changed the pitches of all the background music for some odd reason.
The newer stories arent funny at all if you ask me. Its just Spongebob or Patrick trying to get from point a to point b or finish something, screwing it up, and wrecking the Krusty Krab in the process (aka an unfunny time killer). Or Spongebob and Patrick annoying Squidward far more than they used to to the point that it's not even funny. Or the extremely played out Plankton tries to steal the formula episodes.

Spongebob was definitely at it's best from 1999-2002. 2003-2004 was still good, but starting to fall.
Late 2004 (the movie) onwards...I really dont care for at all.

That ends my rant,
Mike
Personally, I think it jumped when they decided to stop actually trying because they knew they would still have their younger audience. In my opinion, the new episodes are extremely unintelligent while it used to be watchable by kids and adults.
B-):)hi i personaly think spongebob is an awesome show i love to watch the show.
never jumped
i admit some episodes aren't very good
especially karate island it was dum one
karate island isn't number 1 on my list
that would be band geek
it my was really funny
of course i'm not not a big fan of
rock music
but it doesn't bother me any
and i liked the spongebob movie
It's not the same anymore it's to corporate.
I started watching Spongebob when i was around 12. The first episode i saw was "Wormy". I nearly pissed my pants laughing at that. I then became hooked on the show and started watching it religiously. I started watching Spongebob around the year 2001, and ive been watching it ever since. I've seen every episode of Spongebob there is, even the movie. And im pretty pissed about the direction of the new episodes. They started getting really weird after "Pranks a Lot" and "The Strangle", even though i thought these two episodes were great. I noticed Spongebob's voice was very high pitched and him and Patrick were completely retarted. I mean, i know theyre supposed tobe stupid, but they blatantly try to mak them ou to be dumber in the later episodes. I dunno what episode it was, but Patrick has a "weekly condiment soak" and i wanted to kill the writers when i watched that. The writing has gone down the drain, and the plots are just unbearably weird and rediculous. Ill give an example: In the episode where Squidward makes his own symphony, Patrick showsup at his house. Squidward asks "what are you doing here?" and Patrick's response is "I dunno, im funny." Seriously? wtf is that? "Im funny"?!?!?!? I used to love this show, but its gotten so awful with too many weird ass characters like Miss Priss, Monkeys, Giant Monsters, That fat judge, and Gene Scallop, all those stupid ass characters frm "Karate Island". And what ever happened to the realistic fish head news reporter? Now its some retarted looking guy with a huge butt chin. Quite possibly the worst episode in TV was "All that Glitters" Spongebob runs around naked the whole episode, and has some kind of sexual relationship with his spatula, which he calls "spat", and his voice is so goddamn high pitched and annoying i had to stop watching it and change the channel. So much crying, screaming, annoying characters, weak-ass plots, and terrible writing. It's like watching a different show almost. The old episodes were so awesome, some of th funniest material stuff ive ever seen. But after the movie, this show went into the shitter.
In my opinion after the lost episode it went down hill i ocassionally would see an episode i like it got worse when spongebob started singing and also it could just be me but it seems like every season spongebob's voice get's more and more high pitched making it unbearable back in trhe day in the first episode his voice was a lot more deeper if you watch season one and then watch the movie your ears will be begging for mercy also my ears begged for mercy when someone thought it would be a good idea to make every episode a musical and have singing i used to think it was funny when spongebob would sing taking on a singers voice like in the band geeks episode but his new especially annoying voice is murder and viacom pours salt on the wounds by merchandising off of a bad storyline and also i think the new 2008 episodes give me hope because they are back to the basics and i loved bikini bottom confidental week also the episode where squidward becomes handsome i nearly pissed my pants laughing i almost died during the last 5 minutes of it6 i was laughing so hard i can easily get over his voice as long the writers keep doing what they are now. As far as voice go a lot of nickelodean shows are plagued with being hung up on high pitched voices inthe fairly odd parents voices changed as well if you notice. spongebob squarepants is a good show and i will stand by it to the end and i hope the writers will realize the fan base that built spongebob back in 1999 when it first aired is missing him us that made the sponge who he is now are all grown up and we miss spongebob and want his charm brought back because he was originally made for adults i went back today and watched the first episode ann noticed like 8 things that i said wow how did they get away with that thats my true opinion.

: This goes to Viacom stop the madness stop the singing bring spongebob voice down an octave or two.
