I also remember watching this show before 1994. I stopped watching because it got kind of tiresome. I also started to really despise the cryptkeeper.
Tales from the Crypt did a "reverse jump"
i.e. it kept getting better. The final
season in merry england was haunting. My
only regret was that they never did the
EC story where the butler puts piranha
in his master's bath.

Someone should've killed off Courtney Gaines Instead of Jason London in House Of Horrors. They totaly jumped Jaws!
House Of Horrors is my favorite episode. And it would've even more rocked if they had killed off either Arling or one of the other frat boys instead of Henderson. That Jason London character was sexy as heck!Especially in only his underpants!
My very favorite episode is House Of Horrors. And it's because of Jason London. He was so sexy as nerd frat boy
Henderson.I loved that character so much I'd love to make a spin-off of him.

It's right up there with the twilight zone, the Outer limits, you can never get enough of rod sterling some things will never fade away . or go out of style everybody likes a popcorn and cuddling movie with their significant other ha-ha-ha-ha-ha- what makes these shows so great the bit parts from all your favorite actors and actresses through time that's what makes them classics . that's what makes them so watchable no matter how many times you've seen it . you always enjoy seeing those actors and actresses some things will never fade away time will never have any control over TV series like those for when those actors and actresses have long left this world we shall continue to enjoy seeing them throughout the history of time
Tales from the Crypt is my all time favorite tv show. My earliest memories was watching it. It was what started my obsession with horror. I love everything about it. I love the eye for an eye element they use in it. When I was a kid I never expected it. It was so unexpected to me. That one reason why it was so great. I wish it was still on to this day.
I know, I know - the Cryptkeeper was lame and silly, and the show was predictable.
But where else will we ever get to see Tom Hanks' thrown into a TV head first (we've all wanted to do that to him, admit it); Joe Pesci literally sawed in half; Judd Nelson and Meatloaf cooked and served up as..well..meatloaf; Morton Downey Jr. hanged; and the late Moses Gunn clubbed with a crowbar by his footless nephew?
Only on this show will you see all the Hollywood stars you love to hate get slaughtered. Did I mention the one where Tia Carerre is strangled and drowned?

This show really appealed to me when I was 12. My favorite episode was the three-man con with Priscilla Presley. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...and today's been a real bitch!" BOOM! Cryptkeeper himself guest starred in that episode. When I got older I realized the show was fairly lame, but it holds a special place in my heart from that era.
Here's something that the rest of the posters may not know. I have a cassette of the Cryptkeeper's Christmas album.
Boring show. Monsters and tales From The Darkside are way better. I grew up on those 2 shows since I didn't have cable. Later, when Tales From The Crypt came to broadcast tv, I was like "Was that supposed to be good? That was boring as heck." I thought that maybe it had been edited for non-cable viewers. When I got cable a few years later...still boring, and it wasn't edited when shown on broadcast tv.
Can someone tell me why they don't make any new ones of this show? It was something cool to watch late on Saturday nights, and Saturdays suck for TV programming as it is. I once saw a scary one when I was like 7 that still haunts me, where the dad jumps around and beats the kids singing, "what should you do with a drunken sailor earl-i in the mornin'" Creepy. And then the evil witch gets him in the end I think.
