Lived in NY, married a NY girl and have yet to hear a NY accent from either the cab drivers or the fairs???? The lighting is to good the camera angles are too good and the depth of field with a wide open apeture is too good. Sorry I don't believe it...
Jumped when I realized that you can't make a TV show out of a girl fingering herself in the backseat of a dirty taxi.
I am looking for a
particular episode which was in around 2000 filmed in Vegas. Two girls
are in the cab talking about one of their boyfriends getting pulled over
by the cops and he ate an eight ball of cocaine and died in her arms.
I went to high school with both of those girls. I would really like to
get a copy if possible.
Let me know if you have it or not.
Thanks,

I worked on this show in 1999 and 2000. I drove the van that carried the Producer, Associate producer (who asked for releases) and the technician who maintained the cameras. Not only were these episodes never faked, the producers insisted on not using any rides in which they thought the passengers had guessed they might be in the Confessions cab, which did happen after the show became popular. If you saw people you recognized from other television shows, it was because in Vegas we picked up many celebrities and those looking to be stars.Generally movie people would be eliminated as soon as they got in because they would be suspicious of how well lit the cab was and you could tell. We monitored everything on screens inside the follow van. We worked 6 nights a week for 5 months at a time. The producers passed on many rides because they were concerned that the people weren't being sincere. I can confirm for certain that this show was not scripted and that none of the riders ever knew until after the ride was over that they were on the show. The reason the show was only ever filmed in Vegas and New York was because these were among the few cities where it was legal to film people without their knowledge as long as the driver knew. Every driver had to be a real taxi driver liscensed in the city where they worked and in Las Vegas it is illegal to have anyone other than a liscensed cab driver drive a cab on a street open to the public. If you think the shows you saw were interesting, you would be amazed at some of the stories we could not use because the people would not give permission once they were asked for a release.
The show never jumped. It's a great show, but a few years ago, I realized that the car I drive talks to me. When I start it and the door is open it says "THE DOOR IS AJAR" and when I turn off the car, open the door, and leave the headlights on it says "THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON" and if the key is in the ignition when you open the car door it will say "THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION". I call my car "Thunderbird Confessions". It's a 1983 Thunderbird with a digital dashboard and the car TALKS! I've never seen another car talk! Oh and I have fooled around in my car with a lot of people if you catch my drift......
Does anyone really think this show is real? I can almost believe people telling a cabbie some of the bizarre tales, but then they also sign a release form? That's a pretty high believability bar. One so high, a shark could barely jump it, but does!
Taxicab Confessions sucks to high heavens! In the beginning, it was fairly entertaining, but how many goobers are we gonna march through the backseat of a cab, ask the same questions and get nearly the same responses?!? Taxicab Confessions Jumped The Shark when we commenced with recycling the same storyline. Yeah, it varied with each freak of nature that needed to hop into a hack, but come on!! "Oh, you're gay?? What's that like?" SHUT UP, ALREADY! I'd rather the camera was on, the driver shut the hell up, and we watched the cementheads just sitting there, checkin' out what's goin' on as they drive down Loser Boulevard on there way to Wasted Life Farms! Geez, how this show Jumped The Shark...
HBO reached a new low when it aired this lame attempt at soft-porn. How stupid do they think we are? Well, pretty stupid. We're still subscribing to this crud (well, not I anymore).
The episode where the passenger in the backseat tells the cabbie about some raunchy sexual situation and masturbates, and it's all spontaneous and not scripted in any way.
My single fave T-cab cons moment? A woman with multiple visible body piercing discusses having recently had her clitoris pierced. Driver asks her if it hurt (well, duh!) Pincushion replies: "It was the most painful thing I ever felt in my life." (well double-plus-DUH!!)
Taxicab Confessions jumped when the show moved from New York to Vegas. The streets of New York had much more interesting & strange people to pick up. The first season or two was great. Then came the crash.
Never jumped....though it does get repetitive with a simulated(?) sex scene every ep....best ep was TC 2 where the girl was coming home from a club w/ a female cabbie (the Spanish one w/glasses); they were pulled over and talking; the fare was obviously drunk, and she invites the cabbie upstairs to her apt.! The cabbie talks her way out of it but she was agonizing over her choice (a lot of hmmmms and wellllls)..I think/know that after the cameras went off, she went upstairs with her/ who's with me??!!
The show would have been good for a one time special. That is it. AS a series it is a dumb idea. But to the one poster what makes you think there is no rear view mirror and bright lights? Are you living in the 60s? Cameras can be quite small and don't need much light to get a good picture these days. I bet you were surprised that the show is also a "talkie".
