This show is a perfect example of why it is stupid to trust T.V. execs.
I remember when it came out that one of the couples had a child which was against the rules. They were thrown off the show. Then they said they told the truth from the beginning , but the spokespeople from the show said that wasn't true. Yeah, right. They just wanted to create a scandal.
Fox did this with that Married by America show when they accused a contestant on the stage of lying about being married before, and threw her off. She was clearly shocked and said she had told them before. Anyway, these shows are just another sign that the end of the world is near.
Day One...I have to agree w/the above poster. While I'm no self-righteous, holier-than-thou type, I find it appalling that these couples would allow their relationship to take a backseat to 15 minutes of fame...prolly the only reason none of the couples have decided to break up thus far is because their friends/fam (as well as the few people still watching) would hate their guts for it...how can Fox find this crap better than GOOD shows like Family Guy, Greed, and Action that they once aired? But have faith, w/the abysmal ratings this latest series has pulled (and I expect the last episode, airing tonight opposite CBS's primo Mon night sitcoms and Mon Night Football), there's no way in hell Fox will order a 4th series...mark my word.
First off, this concept was a blatant cheapening of relationships. I'm not some overly moral, self righteous type, but get real... this is just cheap and the people that go on the show are cheap whores that don't need an organized game or a remote island to tempt them into cheating. The women are skanks and the men are scum. I cannot respect anyone that has gone on this show, and after watching it, less so.
JTS DAY 1. Voyeurism at its best. A favorite for drama queens. If the couples aren't doing enough dirt, the show splices together clips for the couples to see that makes their partners look BAD. I like the show. It is a guilty pleasure. Too bad they put it on against Survivor. That could kill it.
What, Russian Roulette wasn't dumb enough for Mark Walberg's tastes, he had to go back for more? If the Drop Zones were designed with anyone at all in mind, the idiot couples and good-for-nothing tempters and temptresses top the list. Oh, throw in Darva Conger while you're at it.
I’m not saying that everybody has to watch all shows. And I’m certainly not saying that people that don’t like Jeopardy are intellectually challenged. Last time I checked, people that didn’t like Jeopardy just DIDN’T WATCH IT, plain and simple. They didn’t cry and whine about it like people are doing with TI. I agree that this is trash television. What I don’t understand is that if people don’t like it, why don’t they just change the channel? If TI isn’t worth the time of day, then why are you here wasting MORE time complaining about it? I’m sure there are reruns of something on Lifetime that are shining examples of morality and will make you feel warm and fuzzy. That’s just not what I’m looking for. As far as my few friends that don’t like it, I don’t think it’s because of their overwhelming sense of decency, as you’re proposing. Some are victims of their own guilty conscience; for others, this tugs at their insecurity strings in such a way that they are rationalizing their own distrust of men (YES, just the men). I’m an intelligent, honest, hard working and FAITHFUL woman who would never consider going on a show like TI. That being said, I’m sure glad SOMEBODY is doing it…it gives my friends and I something fun to giggle and gasp about on Thursday nights!
The show sucks, and despite the initial success of the first series, the ratings show it...TI3's premiere pulled a dismal 3.6 rating, putting Fox in 4th place for the evening, not helped by its lead-in, a repeat of one of those crappy "Stupid Behavior Caught On Tape" specials. Mark my words, this series will be the last go-round for TI, and host Mark L. Walberg will return to the more substantial world of game shows.
To the above poster: The hiatus was actually closer to 2 yrs, and the fact that it took Fox that long to order a 3rd series says something about their confidence in TI. And to the poster 2 above, did it ever occur to you that maybe the handful of friends who don't like the show actually have a sense of decency? I find nothing entertaining about this sleazy piece of crap...do you also have friends who hate Trading Spaces because they're afraid of change, or Jeopardy because it's too intellectually taxing? Come on...
FOX has just renewed a third season of Temptation Island after a year hiatus. And who knows whenever this trash ends cause we will be stuck again with horny and slut boys and girls.
oh my GAWD. I can't believe how worked up people are getting about how awful and immoral this show is. The bottom line is that these are willing contestants, there out of choice and their own free will. They know what may happen, and they are OK with that risk. And the fact they they are doing this for free (no $$ prize) is a little redeeming...it's good to know that people are still willing to put themselves on the line without being money hungry. It doesn't escape me that the few friends I have that don't like this show are also the most insecure friends. If you aren't secure in your sense of self and in your relationship, then sure, this show may be your relationship boogeyman. If you can't stand the heat, get your ass out of the kitchen.
this has to be one of the most depressing shows ever dreamt up. its beyond me why any normal couple would want to mess up their flimsy relationship with cameras recording and revealing their stupid characters to the world. At least they can feel assured that no-one will ever trouble them for a proper relationship again..
Reality TV shows were fine with the likes of Survivor (with an actual point). Fox blew it out of proportion when it spewed what I believe the worst "reality" TV shows ever shown. Those couples have to be either swingers or actors, because if my girlfriend ever suggested going on the show like this, I would say, "heres the door, dont let it hit your ass on the way out"
I'm actually surprised they got anybody to participate. I mean, there's no prizes or cash or anything. Well, okay, a free Caribbean vacation for the duration of the series, but that's it (though the singletons would consider it a "prize" more so than the couples, probably).
Never Jumped - it was the one show that my roommates and I could watch together ('cause I refuse to watch Trading Spaces). And for that poster who was celebrating the show's cancellation...guess what? They're now casting for the THIRD installment! How d'ya like them apples?!?
Forget this piece of crap...no one was having any fun, it was all just voyeurism and exploitation, and what Fox exec thought they could do better w/the 2nd series by doubling the # of eps produced? Thankfully, it backfired big time and got the show cancelled. Also, to the poster who complained about that endlessly shown promo w/the woman screaming "YOU WANNA MAKE ME?!", that wasn't for TI, it was for a similar Fox reality show, Love Cruise, which was launched around the same time TI began its 2nd season, but thankfully sank (LOL) after its "Maiden Voyage". Oh, and PAX just premiered a new game show called "Dirty Rotten Cheater"...the first contestant? Kaya...and yes, he was just a regular contestant playing for himself...I guess he should've thought past the 6 wks of fame, LOL (and he didn't even win!). Thankfully, host Mark L. Walberg has since redeemed himself by getting back to his roots as a game show host w/Russian Roulette on GSN, which he claims to enjoy a lot more than TI...who wouldn't? :)
