osamabombadil felt the parody is too obscure!!
All i can say is that Brock is the parody of ALL TIME!! he never lets down. The Venture Bros is the best cartoon on TV and if you havent seen it you should make time to watch. I am 42 years old and I get all of the jokes because I grew up watching Johny quest scooby do and reading the hardy boys books. What makes me think its the best cartoon on TV you say? Well besides the fact that I can relate to all the parody my son who never saw johny quest or even heard of the hardy boys laughs his ass off while watching this show! and if a person who has no idea what the underlying jokes are bout can still find it funny makes it a comedy for all time.
GO TEAM VENTURE!!

NEVER JUMPED YET! C'mon, where can you find a body guard like brock sampson? "Can you leave the helmet on?" Was a simply classic and hilarious line!
Also, Dr. venture is my hero because he, like me, has managed to mess up most evreything in his life so far.
One more note, a 400 lb gorilla superbadguy telling the monarch" I saw love in your eyes when you mentioned her" just before he pushes the poor guy down a toilet shaft, this is great TV!!!!

Hasn't even come close. This is not only the best thing on Adult Swim, but right now, the best series on TV. Absolutely brilliant...what began as a one-joke parody has evolved quickly into an incredibly detailed and rewarding saga that works as both as satire and pure entertainment. Hope Season 3 eventually arrives...it's pop TV's best kept secret.
There is nothing funnier than a hulking secret agent attempting to explain to a petulant robot that the Battle of Evermore is about love, longing, and also hobbits.
I agree with Cleave. Individually, I think the Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend, and Phantom Limp are great characters but the love triangle thing doesn't have the best potential.
The show was never about having an intricate plot or things like that, but being a parody of said intricate plot. In season 2, there was just too much being taken seriously, when yyou just want to see how retarded Hank and Dean can get.
The Scooby Doo parody and "21 to midnight" episodes were absolutely hilarious, to credit them, and I wish they went more into this direction, instead of the Monarch/Dr.Girlfriend/Phantom Limb love triangle thing.

I have to strongly disagree with the "season 2 bad" posts. The character development evolved, the stories more intricate. I for one absolutely LOVED the Bowie, Iggy Pop and Klaus Nomi usage for the finale. This show absolutely rocks and I can't wait to get the season 2 DVD. I've seen most of the episodes only once and I'm eager to see them again.
Go Team Venture!

Season 1 was fantastic.
Season 2 was...not so fantastic.
I dunno, the entirety of season 2 just didn't have the magic of the first season. It was just a downer as the pop culture references became mentioned more and more -- I haven't heard anyone else say this, but Season 2's a lot like Family Guy in that it relied on these obscure references for comedy.
Of course Season 1 had it too, but it never went overboard...it felt right.
I just hope season 3, if it ever gets greenlighted, makes up for it all.
Also, David Bowie as the evil mastermind leader was just horrible. I might have groaned when that was revealed.

This show had potential, but always fell short by trying to throw in obscure parodies, ending up jumping the shark by being unfunny and self-indulgent. This happened with just about every episode ending by Brock going psycho and beating everyone up or killing everyone (instead of making a fool of himself like a true parody would), and letting the episode end abrubtly without an ending. I bet most people didn't even get the "Under Siege" parody (where Brock teaches one of the Venture Bros.-- over the intercom-- to take out an entire pirate-crew with his bare hands) but but it sucked anyway (but so did "Under Siege"). The "stupid villain-voices" were also annoying.
The creators just don't know funny from crude-- they're not the same.
I know this show has a cult-following, but that's all it'll ever have-- like "Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-law."

Venture Bros is just getting started. Season one was great, and season two was brilliant. Not only has VB not jumped the shark, it still has its best years ahead of it.
I loved Adult Swim before it even existed. I remember staying up late to watch Space Ghost: Coast to Coast when my family first got one of those giant satellite dishes. That said, never has a show on Adult Swim impressed me as much as The Venture Brothers.
Brilliant.
Brilliant.
