The thing that killed this show was that there was no immunity for the better contestants. That is, the show had a fatal flaw with regard to the fact that the better contestants could simply be voted off.
Any pretty blonde girl could simply pretend to be a total ditz in the first couple of rounds and plant the seed that they were a moron. Then the others would focus on getting rid of the smarter contestants.
This aspect of the show simply killed it. But, to be honest, I'd have done the same thing. Who wnats to go up against Einstein when you can pick Linday Lohan or Paris Hilton as your opponent.

I agree that Robinson could dish it out but couldn't take it. She was on Conan O'Brien once and he turned the tables on her. She got all of the answers wrong! Probably most of the smart alecks and know-it-alls that quiz others (that guy on Street Smarts stands out) wouldn't know the right answers either.
I miss it.It was better than those recent game shows.Where did some of those go anyway? When it takes you months to even miss a show,it couldn't have been good.1 vs.100,where's that and that show where you had these pop-up poles and an isolation chamber?Memorable, huh?
I never understood why Anne Robinson is that way. Is she just acting, or is that really her personality??? I saw her interviewed once and she seemed to be quite charming then. And whatever happened to the syndacated r daytime version of this with George Gray?
This is a show that should have been great, but the combination of Anne "The Human Icicle" Robinson and the frequent celebrity shows killed it's popularity. Sometimes being cynical and putting people in their place works humor-wise (Don Rickles), but Robinson was just horrendous. A rude, vulgar woman who could dish it out, but couldn't take it (I remember a man giving her a zinger once, and she basically froze with her icy stare). Ugh!
I agree that too many celebrity editions killed it. They must be doing something right in the UK. They celebrated their 1000th show in December and it's been on the air for like six or seven years there.
This show jumped the shark when they brought a skinny version of Drew Carey in two be the host of the show. Anne Robinson was always quite the character in my opinion. I enjoyed watching her. I wish she came out with another show.Oh well, she's gone and never to return. So get over it, all of you people that thought she was a b****
I liked it in the US. They were just relentless with the celebrity editions. Same thing killed Millionaire, and look where that is now. George Gray was okay as the host, but honest-to-God, Anne is the best.
'WL' was bad enough when they had celebrities play for charity, but it really JTSed when they had LOOKALIKES play for charity. Wake up, producers, they weren't even the real folks! They should've played for themselves! Peace.
many of the celebrities were dummies, which helped to kill the show, but the Star Trek guys rocked1they had the highest total ever!
I can't abide a game show in which the most competent players can be arbitrarily voted off by jealous or vindictive rivals. I watched it once. That was enough for me!
This show never jumped. It stayed true to its original conception and I thought it was entertaining. "More intellectual than a survivor show, more exciting than Wheel of Fortune" would have been a good slogan. Anne's insults were clearly meant in jest, although John McEnroe in "The Chair" had better wise-cracks. I enjoyed this program, as did my family.
