a true cool series, that should be released on dvd,
Frog was too cool, Doc was an icon as well,
my friends and I have this Doc line that comes and goes...
Doc: well, he's dead
Frog: if he's dead, how come his chest is still moving up and down?
Doc: That's his mortal soul trying to get out!
I remembered this show as being very funny and recently i was on ioffer.com and saw the complete series, so i got it and it still made me laugh out loud! (lol)

This is such a funny show !! and it had guest apperances by Christopher Lloyd, Andy Griffith, Chuck Conners, Betty White, Dixie Carter and others.

Can you tell I like this show :)
This show still makes me laugh whenever I think of some of the lines or characters. This kind of show is what television needs most now but I don't think you could ever deliver a better mix of characters and actors.
I can't believe I did a searce of Frog and "Do you want to go to Boise for the weekend" and the 4th hit down was this site. It is funny how some things stick in your mind. My husband and I will randomly say that phrase every couple years to one another. :)
"In days of yore ... in Western lore ... a man returns ... from Civil War..." Great show. Never jumped, but then again (as mentioned), didn't stick around long enough. BTW -- all this chatter and no Christopher Lloyd/Calico Kid? "...I've been shot"
BEST OF THE WEST was a hilarious spoof show which did not last in the tradition of CAPTAIN NICE, POLICE SQUAD, SLEDGE HAMMER, etc. It DID NOT JTS.
Never jumped! My favorite episode was where they were trying to convince the railroad people to come through their town (instead of that other town, a backwater called DENVER...) but to do that they had to convince them that they had a church. So they all played church, sing "Rock of Ages" and only knowing one line! Hilarious!
Too bad they never gave this show a chance. It never tried to be anything other than pure entertainment and it usually succeeded in getting us to laugh. I still chuckle when I think about when the old doctor sends for a mail-order bride that turns out to be an ex-prostitute trying to go straight. Right before the ceremony she decides to whisper the truth to him. He then turns to Sam and says, "She thinks I wouldn't want to marry her because she used to work in a WAREhouse!"
DIDN'T JUMP.It was never around long enough to jump.Iloved Frawg, the "dirt" floor,"She's embarrassed cos she used to work in a Warehouse and much, much, more.It was short, sweet and very, funny
It didn't, but then again it didn't stay on long enough to get stale. I remember it as a very funny show spoofing old westerns, especially Gunsmoke (with the town drunk doctor). Tracy Walters was hilarious as Frog (which is pretty much the same character he played in the mini-series Lonesome Dove (Lippy). It was a shame that it never got a good chance.
Can't believe you even had this show...for that matter I can't believe I remember it. What I remember about this show was how blasÈ the town seemed about the Marshall and his lawmaking efforts. They just didn't care one way or another and I found it rather refreshing.
Funny funny show! The only really weak link on it was Sherriff Best himself. I don't know if he was written to be such a wonderfully surreal character, but Frog ruled! Just thinking of the phrase "wanna go to Boise for the weekend" makes me laugh.+
Man this show was funny!! Don't think it lasted long enough to jump. Sort of reminded me of Police Squad in it's humor. I still remember the shoot out scene where the gunfighters started smashing out the windows to shoot at the men outside, while the shop owner patiently walks over and shows them how the windows can actually be opened.
The only thing I remember about this show is Frog doing some stupid magic trick. He says in his long southern drawl. "First I roll up this newspaper....Then I pour in this glass of milk". Boy it's funny what crazy lines will stick with you.
This show did not run long enough to jump. It was hilarious, especially Tracy Walter as Frog.
