I was on the pilot for the show called The Pinky Tuscadero Show, that was later called Blansky's Beauties. The difference was that they dropped Roz's character and my character named Naomi, the little fat girl, who I was ever so pleased to be cast as "the fat girl", at age 10.
i went to a taping of this show! i was in love w/scott baio (pre-happy days he was adorable). i even brought him a card and when i gave it to him, he kissed me! a big, giant thrill.
i don't remember much about the show except how weird it was for eddie mekka to be playing carmine's "cousin."

Someone mentioned that Pinky Tuscadero from Happy Days appeared in the first episode of BB. Actually, I believe when this project started, they actually intended this to be a pilot for a show focused on Pinky Tuscadero. Instead, for whatever reason, they ultimately switched it over to Nancy Walker and company and the rest is history! After the episodes mentioned here, I also believe they tried to get this show to work under another title and without Nancy Walker, who was replaced by another actress whose name I can't remember. Does anyone else remember that and the title of the renamed show? (It didn't last long....shorter than BB!)
Hardly an episode went by that we didn't hear Nancy Walker tell somebody off with the lame catch-phrase "Put a Sock in it." I guess the producers thought that the "sock" remark would become as popular as "Sit on it."
I really don't think it did. Plot continuity aside, it was quite good. My personal favourite was the mirror-shaded goon of Mr.Big, referred to as "You all know my associate Mister Smith". Never spoke a word - Which lead to a laugh; Just as he is laeving a room, the phone rings and Nancy answers. She smiles as the caller asks to speak to Smith. She says,"It's for you" and awaits hearing him speak for the first time ever. Mr. Smith picks up the phone. Listens. Nods twice. Hangs up the phone. Looks angrily at Nancy and leaves. Not a word.
Well, while everyone is pointing out flaws about this show relating to "Happy Days" & "Laverne & Shirley", both of these had plenty of their own...like Chachi's NEVER changing bad haircut (Scott Baio STILL seems to wear today - it's still not workin', Scotty!) All wrong for the 50's! Then the credibility of "L & S" moving to 1965 and trying to pass off the girls as "only 28"(both 40+ by then)?! Now back to Blansky! This show could POSSIBLY have made it through a season longer if it didn't only focus on whiny Ethel "Sunshine" Akalino and Bimbo Barbie Benton's character and try some development with some of the othe girls...remember "Cochese"? I'm sure she "floated some viewer's boats" in the day!
BB was supposedly set in the 50's when it premiered, then "Suddenly" it was 1977! After a month, Nancy told a story of meeting LaVerne DeFazio "a long time ago", in the 50's! Eddie Mekka played a dual role, the Big Ragu's cousin. And we had Howard Cunningham's cousin, Nancy. Was Scott Baio, Chachi's cousin too?
I can't believe almost everyone here remembers the same blooper about Blansky's Beauties that I do. I was only 10 years old but realized Happy Days was set in the 50's and "BB" was set in modern times. Also ... does anyone remember that creator Gary Marshall played the role of "Mr. Big" himself?
This show was no more lame than the other lame shows at the time. The other lame shows didn't get canceled because they managed to keep an audience. To the above poster, this was a spinoff of "Happy Days". Nancy Blansky was Howard Cunningham's cousin. She appeared on a "Clip Show" of Happy Days in a pathetic attempt to promote her show. Did they actually expect this obscure link to Happy Days was going to make people ruch to watch the show? Usually, a crossover attempt works, but here's the problem. Happy Days takes place in the 50s. Blansky's Beauties takes place in the 70s. Even 20 plus years would show on a ugly mug like Nancy Walker, yet she still looks the same as she did 20 years before. Nancy makes no further reference to her cousin Howard on her show, and vice-versa. So what was the point of the connection? Howard referred to Nancy Blansky as her "favorite cousin." If she was so great than my was she never mentioned before or after the spinoff? If she was so great, then how come Howie never invited her back?
This show completely sucked, yet I am sure I saw all of the episodes. Anyway, contrary to a prior submission above, this was a spin-off of "Happy Days." I think Nancy Walker was supposed to be Howard Cunningham's aunt or cousin or something. Anywyay, she was the leader of a group of showgirls and in one episode (or maybe in all of them, for what I know)there was some pressure on Blansky to have her girls dance topless and the whole episode was a would they/wouldn't they thing. Well, they obviously didn't or the show would have lasted for decades. I think that particular episode ended with the beauties dancing in trench coats. Classic stuff.
Hey I remember this show, didn't Chachi steal money from Nancy Walker and some other people to get a drum set? Wasn't that the only episode? At any rate this piece of crap bit the big one! I often wonder when these actors get the script for this stuff if they know it as much of a piece of garbage as we do! They must of needed the money.
It jumped when the first script was written.Whose idea was it to put the members of a '50's era sitcom in a show in 1977? Pinky Tuscadaro jumps a motorcycle on the first show. She didn't age since her demo-derby days with the Fonz.God,talk about stupid. Besides, any show with Scott Baio,Eddie Mecca, and Nancy Walker is a ****** for failure. Talk about three annoying people. The only good thing was seeing chicks in bikinis and showgirl gowns.
