Chicago Sons from 1997 and Married People starring Jay Thomas from 1990 were two shows that should have never been cancelled. The networks should have stuck with them bu trying them at different times because they would have been successful. The character and content were too good.
It jumped when they sleazed it up. Typical sitcom crap; do a few episodes that are family-friendly, and then sleaze it up later, counting on the early audience to be rubes and stay committed. Instead, I pulled the ejection handles.
It never jumped, you just had to be from Chi-town to appreciate the show. Jason Bateman was hilarious, as was the new scheme everyday younger brother. The older brother was just a regular guy dope, which is funny in it's own way.
This show was hilarious! I can't understand why it was cancelled. The three brothers had a great and real-like relationship. The middle brother who liked the girl...what a riot! HIYABA!
Day One. They cast Paula Marshall in it, then they had Heather Page Kent as a Special Guest Star. Paula was a major factor (either as a regular or Special Guest Star) in feeding "Oops" (oops, I meant "Snoops"), "Sports Night" and "Cupid" (I'm totally shocked that CupidFans are the forgetful and forgiving type!) to the good ol'Shark. Similarly, Heather (again, either as a regular or Special Guest Star) also caused "Men Behaving Badly" (USA), "Jenny", "Norm", "Stark Raving Mad" and (arrrrghhh...) "That's Life" to do The Jump. One of them alone can launch even the best of shows above you-know-who/what, having both of them (even for just one episode) made for a one-way ticket into you-know-where!
This show jumped the shark from the get-go. The only good thing about it was the hot Paula Marshall who was in it. Well just for the record, this show starred Jason Bateman and not Justine as someone said. Why would it be called Chicago Sons if it were about a girl? She starred in Men Behaving Badly around the time of this show.
