Shark Bytes
Finally a television show that does not have the fake laughter in the background, aside from that it's halfway decent.
On the real, Chris Rock never jumped the shark. The interviews were kind of weak, but could be hilarious sometimes like his interview with hammer. Additionally, the skits were amazing. I loved pootie tang, and I mean the movie as well. The acts were always inventive and folks you couldn't see on regular, white television. I won't say it was one of the best talk shows ever, but it was definitely representative of the edginess of both Chris Rock and HBO and a quality program with good jokes. Honestly, how could you not laugh at hate kevin?
It is distracting that Chris Rock's fingers are morbidly long and kind of deformed.
Funny guy, can't get past the hands though.

The "How to not get your ass kicked by the Police" is one of the funniest skits ever produced. I have a couple of friends who are policemen and they told me they actually show this in the Police Academy.
The Chris Rock Show jumped on day one. Chris Rock, while having a presentation more forceful (and thus more funnier) than E. Murphy and others, is ultimately just another comedian who takes advantage of the fact that it's OK to make fun of white people (or any race for that matter) because he is black. On his show Chris Rock never misses a chance to make white jokes (must like his stand-up routine). This is somehow allowed and not viewed as racist, ignoring the fact that if a white person were to make stereotypical jokes about black people they would be denounced a racist and never work again. The Chris Rock show has exposed Chris Rock for what he is. While he was the king of stand-up for a few years (until his third one came out), his show ultimately just sucks. He is constantly reading off cards and it is so obvious it ruins any of the jokes. He is visibly uncomfortable throughout the show, constantly moving and twitching. And, more importantly, the well has run dry. Whether he's writing or someone else, there just isn't anything all that funny being said.
Chris Rock isn't funny.. he reminds me of the typical 95lb weakling who would get beat up after school and never got a date, so he developed a sense of humor so he could fit in... Rock is of the same mold as Chris Tucker and Eddie Murphy--they run their mouths a mile a minute, injecting as many "F" words as possible in hopes that at some point people will laugh because they're trying so damn hard. Also, Rock had the most terrible guests on his show..rap stars, basketball players & political activists like Jesse Jackson, Jr. and Al Sharpton... just terrible
The Chris Rock Show was great. Give it up for the one..the only..Grandmaster Flash. Most of the sketches and commercial parodies were great. The Pootie Tang sketches were funny, not funny enough to make a movie about. The guest interviews were great for the most part. Don King & Johnnie Cochran were excellent on the show. Chris talked a lot of sh*t to his guests. My only complaint was that Chris was always looking away to read the cue cards. No memory retention at all. It was a little distracting. His musical guests were great. Beastie Boys were excellent. On the final show, instead of having on some well known artist or band, he had on a virtual unknown singer/songwriter named Nikka Costa. She was GREAT and it was a classy move on Chris Rock's part to give her an appearance on his final show.
Jumped on day one. Chris Rock was funny, but too full of himself. All talk shows, with the exception of this one, have the guest sitting on the viewers left and the host sitting to the right of the screen. This is because our eyes, due to reading habits, move left to right. The person on the left side is the one you tend to look at the most. Talk show hosts, for all their faults, concede this honor to their guests. Not Chris Rock, he had such an ego, worse than even Carson or Letterman, that he sat on the left (dominant) side.
this show was so important. while some episodes & skits were funnier than others, and i don't agree with all of rock's humor (he has definite issues regarding women, but if i were as homely a woman as he is a man, i might have issues too) but where else are you going to see African-American acts like the Lox & D'Angelo & Common get to promote their new releases in a national venue? As much as I despised the Arsenio show, his show was significant for the same reason. Unlike Arsenio, Rock is actually funny & his bookings were a lot more interesting. I miss this show. The only must-see late night comedy/talk show.
Chris has NEVER jumped! However, it potentially can jump if he keeps reading from the que-card the way he does. I mean, when he tells his "opening" jokes, his eyes are almost glued to them---I can't be the only person who notices this! I heard that the guy dropped out of high-school...are his reading skills that bad?
after the first season, when Chris Rock realized how successful he was and he got spooked and he's been kinda off his rhythm ever since. he's real wound up and sometimes he falls over his words like he's self-conscious or something. ubersuccess just made him weird. he needs a massage or something.
I don't know. I started to regularly tune into this show, and some of the bits were great. But I felt like it was the same ol' thing after a while. Up and down monologue/attempt at creating a recurring character played by someone else/funny first skit/grandmaster flash/boring celeb interview/bad 2nd sketch/appearance by a rap group with a minimum of 3 initials in its title/close. Yawn. That being said, the bit with the South Carolina flag is classic.
