Dr. Phil IS an arrogant assh@le, although I must admit I have watched his show a lot. Many of the episodes cover interesting topics, but he does have an enormous ego. If he were more humble and were not convinced that he's the only one who is ever right, no matter what the topic, then he might be more likeable.
Man this show sucks, I hate it with a passion.. The many, many reasons I hate this show are:
-Dr. Phil had an 'inappropriate relationship' with a 16 year old client/employee and was sanctioned for unethical behavior. Dr. Phil was ordered to take an ethics class, pass a jurisprudence exam, complete a physical evaluation, undergo a psychological evaluation, and have his practice supervised for one year in order to continue his private practice in Texas. As of 2008, McGraw has not completed the conditions imposed by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists,and he is NOT LISCENED to practice psychology in Texas, California, or anywhere else. This is the main reason why I hate his preachyness.
-His family, plastic-faced wife Robin and his fame seeking son. I remember one episode fully featuring Robin and some pile of manure book she had written.
-Dr. Phil's crappy weightloss products and how he thinks of himself as a 'weightloss guru'.
-His attempted 'intervention' with Britney Spears. Man, what a fame whore. Dr. Phil had also 'involved' himself in the Natalee Hollaway case and is accused of manipulating tapes of phone conversations of the accused.
-The highly sensationalist nature of his show. (Also see above) If you were doing a report on Missing White Woman Syndrome or sensationalization in the media, or quick-fix treatment solutions I recomend you check out this show.
-Several mental health care professionals criticized McGraw for his actions. One professional psychologist filed a complaint with the California Board of Psychology alleging that Dr. Phil practiced clinical psychology without a license and violated doctor-patient privilege by discussing Spears' case with the media. He also started a petition to have the Dr. Phil show removed from the air.

It's ironic that Dr. Phil's Nov 5th episode dealt with the subject of brainwashing and mind-control... Nov 5th, the day after millions of Ozombies drank their Kool-Aid and mindlessly cast their vote for "The Messiah", Obama bin STALIN!!

The entire problem with Dr. Phil is that he has forgotten his place. He tried to remove Oprah from her pedestal and install himself as a demigod instead. The gods of the Oprah universe do not look kindly upon transgressions of this kind and revenge shall be theirs.

That is not nearly as funny though as he/she thinking I am a doctor or pharmacist and REALLY hand out Prozac to people! Prozac? Is that your idea of how to approach the problems of this country? Medicate everyone? Whooaaahh. That's kinda scary, just to a small degree.
Because somebody says something you don't like or that you disagree with -- that's all the reason in the world for them to 'lighten up' and get their brain cells re-trained, huh? Why can't somebody have a different take on things than you do and just be allowed to have that different opinion?
Maybe its reactions like the afore-mentioned 'lighten up' crack that give people like Pig and myself a bit of an attitude when we talk about topics like this. Just because we care about a subject and show some emotion when talking about it, suddenly we need to 'lighten up.' That's a bogus cop-out for somebody who simply doesn't want to hear a different opinion.
