Shark Bytes
I like the metaphor of grabbing the shark and giving it a swirly. I'm surprised that there is no day one selection - it's clearly what the creators were aiming for.
The issue with this show is that it's completely unmarketable to kids - and adults (at the time) didn't watch cartoons at all. I remember trying to watch this show as a kid and hating that the plots made no sense.
Now I watch it and recognize the innate genius of it. It's too bad - but it had no hope in hell of being the next big thing after Animaniacs. It was just too chaotic.

I agree the show would have jumped if it had stayed around longer but to quote Paul Rugg if we keep buying the DVD's we might make a movie out of this.
Jump the Shark? Heck, Frekazoid GRABBED the shark and gave it a swirly! Gad, we need more of this on TV today.

Freakazoid was, without a doubt (along the Pinky and the Brain), THE best WB cartoon ever! It was probably the last GOOD cartoon, after getting crap like Histeria and all. It really pisses me off that they axed Freakazoid instead of these other stupid WB shows, but thank God we got Cartoon Network to watch reruns!
Yeah, Pinky and the Brain was cool, too, until they added Elmyra. Canceling Freakazoid too soon, adding Elmyra to P&tB...what kind of idiots do they have working at the WB? Well, at least Freakazoid didn't have a chance to jump the shark like P&tB did. We still have fond memories of Freakazoid...Candle Jack, FB! (fan boy), Invisibo, the Nerdator, Cave Guy, and other hilarious villains. And friends. Thank God this show wasn't contaminated with the likes of Elmyra or similar characters.

It Jumped the Shark on Season Two. It was still funny and inventive, but when Dexter Douglas stopped appearing, the show lost some of the edge and inventiveness.
Still, it was damn good, though not as good as Season 1.

I agree with Guest (the one before me). On a whim one day I decided to go back and look through some old Freakazoid episodes, and MAN! I fell out of my seat laughing at some parts! It really is so much better now that I can understand all the political jokes and allusions!
I just watched every episode of these basically after only seeing them in childhood.... and they're even more hilarious now that I understand most of the jokes, though there are some pop culture references that I do not recognize at all. this show always had an awesome lack of a fourth wall.
the best episode had to have been quantum freak, the spoof of quantum leap... "palm trees, HOOLA GIRLS, pine trees, HOOLA GIRLS, surf boards, HOOLA GIRLS, HOOLA GIRLS, HOOLA GIRLS"
i miss this show... when are they bringing it to dvd?!

I miss this show, every single time I turn on Cartoon Network. It never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever jumped. Brilliant cartoon if I ever seen one, and I seriously think that they should bring it back somehow.
