Go to nbc.com. They cut a deal with Direct TV to exclusively broadcast in the fall to subscribers only. NBC will not broadcast until after the Super Bowl that night (they have the rights next year). The site doesn't explain whether or not non-subscribers get to see the start of the new season, or if it just picks up at that point. The Almighty Dollar!!!
I heard it is coming back next season (2009). I hope it does i think it's a good show.
After an undefeated season and state championship, what are you going to do for an encore?
Bring back FNL. I need my fix of Coach Taylor, Mrs. Coach Taylor, and the boys and girls of Dillon High. I WANT MY FNL!
:_| Don't cancel. This is one of the best on TV this horrible season. Dom't Jump!!!
I love love love FNL however season two was just nowhere near season one. I hope they bring it back cause its still a million times better than all the other junk on tv now.
This is a great show, I hada few issues with the second season, but I still enjoyed it far more then so many other shows on t.v. I hope to see at least one or two more seasons of this show.
Season 2 is awful. Great actors but script is pathetic. And what's with all the under age drinking - not just a little or once in awhile - it's a way of life with these kids -- in EVERY EPISODE -- how do they just continue to go into places that serve them all the alcohol they want? Even if there's such a town like that, it's not a good message to send out.

GET some GOOD WRITERS, please!!
Some of the best actors young and old on TV, this show will launch some careers.

Viewers will get tired of the over the top soap opera style writing though and the cast will be split up as kids graduate. I think both will be this shows demise.

I do find it funny that they find every possible way to show Under Armor logos everywhere. Having an actor put their shoes on a desk so you can see the logo on the bottom gave me a good laugh.
Friday Night Lights has some of the best characters on TV, but the writing and plotlines this year has been very strange and uneven. So, Landry seems pretty well adjusted just weeks after killing someone. And Riggins stealing $ from a meth dealer and then the show being wrapped up at the end with a $3,000 gift from Lyla? Its like they have a new group of writers every couple of weeks that come up with a brand new whacky plot-line.
This is the best show on TV. I agree that season two is weaker than season one, but it still beats all the other mediocre shows that are on. The acting is brilliant and I look forward to it each Friday night. Please keep it coming.
How much time elapsed since the last episode? Buddy's wife announes plans to remarry. Riggins moves in with coach. He saw his roommate's meth lab. Will we see that guy again? Tyra looks more like Julie's aunt than her aunt does. A coach/AD and a teacher don't realize that their daughter is out getting loaded. That Riggins is one resilient dude. Even with all of that contrived mess I can't wait til the next episode
I've been a big fan, but the sharks are definitley gathering after this last episode. How many times can they employ that cheapest of dramatic tricks - havng the wrong person see what they aren't supposed to see. Of course, as soon as Matt kisses, carlotta, Julie sees it. Of course, as soon as Riggins is accidentally in a compromising pose with Julie, Coach sees it. Boo! Have their writers gone on mental strike during the writing sessions? And didn't Mrs. Coach and her sister have that exact, word-for-word argument two weeks ago or so? Boring. It appears they have run out of ideas.
I loved Season 1 but Season 2 has been a BIG disappointment. The young actors, especially Taylor Kitsch and Jesse Plemmons, are great, as is Kyle Chandler, but some storylines are awful and others are getting old. Can't the writers ever give Riggins a break? Make him happy for awhile!

And what's with all the cleavage? I can almost understand the kids dressing revealingly but coach's wife?? She has a baby & goes back to her job at school in dresses cut down to her navel. And once it had "baby spit up' on it, so her co-worker had to help rub it off? GIVE ME A BREAK --PAHLEEESE!!!

Bottom linme: they need to get some good writers and some good stories or they won't be back for a 3rd season.
Too bad for such good actors.
To the poster below who wondered what will happen when the "seniors" graduate? Well, I think that may have already happened this year with Riggins, Tyra and Lyla coming back for what could be their second senior years. But now they can't get away with it again, either with them or with Smash who is unambiguously a senior this season. The show was intentionally ambiguous in season 1 about which grade some of the students were in (presumably b/c they didn't know if they were going to get picked up for a second season), but from where I am sitting (if anyone else remembers anything definitive from season one about what grades Riggins, Tyra and Lyla were in, please post), Lyla was definitely a senior in season 1 (she and Street were discussing where they were going to go to college together, next year), and I had assumed from the storylines (including that Street and Riggins have been best friends since grade school) that Riggins and Tyra were seniors too but again the show was intentionally ambiguous about this. The fact that all of these actors (except the one who plays Julie) are in their mid 20s doesn't help - they all look too old for high school. Season one was mostly great, season two is not so great but this show is still unique and better than the majority of things on TV.
