kind of interesting at times. but when he was just barhopping it was boring. have not seen this for many years, i think it went off around 2003.
the best episode was in San Francisco, and he went to a studio to do voice over for a porno movie, and broke character complaining about a cramp. Priceless.
Strangely appealing, even when the jokes grow stale. Never jumped.
This is, bar none, one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Case in point: the episode where Dave is in Chicago (if my memory is correct), and he wanders over to a packed hot-dog stand, where African-American waitresses are hurling obscenities left and right and insulting people who complain about the service. That is one of the few times in my life I have doubled over from laughing so hard. Good work, Dave.
NEVER! Unlike reality shows that unrealistically portray characters (My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancee?) or a show that portrays real people as god-like figures (The Simple Life?), Dave Attell shows people that hang out way past Last Call exactly as they are: a bunch of drunks and crazy people willing to do anything to be on camera. It's a great and really fun show to watch, since Dave meets all kinds of crazy people. From the first episode in New York City (where he went to a party for fat women) to the most recent episode in Tokyo (where he went to a porno studio and later got people to chug Saki), it's been sheer brilliance, and the show is absolutely hilarious. I want to meet Dave and say "Hey! You're living proof that someone who drinks as much beer as I do can be successful!".
The best comedy show, the best reality show and the best travel show on TV. Dave should get corporate sponsorship from booze companies. I always want a drink after watching.
What could I say about Dave? He is the best! Does this guy ever sleep?? I kind of stumbled upon this show one night, I laughed so hard at some of the people that this guy comes in contact with. I enjoy seeing all the places that he goes, that would be the greatest job ever!! KEEP ON MAKING US LAUGH DAVE!!!! =o)
Another entertaining show hosted by a very talented comedian. I enjoy exploring new places and this show really gives me a good feeling for the culture and some infotaining and educational tidbits thrown in about local culture and so forth. I can't help but wonder if some of the businesses and bars are really paying to be featured on the air but I much prefer watching the funny things DAve does with the street cleaners and shtuff than watching some other people get drunk and shake their booties in da club. I think it's amusing that when a city doesn't have that great of a night life, such as NYC or Little Rock, Dave will spend more time with people who are working in that city than in a bar. By the way, finally a show that ordinary people can get on just by being at work during the graveyard shift. Anyway. Great show. Love to watch it.
To the poster that commented how unfunny Dave Attell’s standup act is compared to the rest of the show? Apples and oranges! Standup (by this millennium is too “out” to build a show around anymore) and the wild people Dave encounters in the cities he visits are not necessarily always the best main elements of the comedy. It’s what he says and does around the craziness and his openness to let just about anything fly at him and make it funny is why this show is so brilliant, IMO. There’s just something terribly endearing and cute about Dave, too. Like the big hairy doofus guy that’s always fun to have at a party because you just know he’s going to make some great smart-ass comment about everyday things and get people laughing. He also does this in a way that’s just funny and witty without being mean-spirited to anyone he comes in contact with too. One of my favorite analogies he once made had to do with what his idea of “Sounds of Love-making” were compared to “..Yanni and his wind-chimes…” (you’d just have to catch that in a rerun)! Hope this show stays around longer even if he does cut back on how many he makes per season!
Never Jumped! This show is great. All of the cities are so different, yet Dave makes it seem like a party no matter where he is. Ice fishing in Montreal was funny. The entire Anchorage episode was hilarious too.
Dave Attell is probably the least interesting and funny part of this show. Seeing all of the weird, perverted, etc. types that flock to the cameras in each city is absolutely fascinating and sometimes very funny. The most that Dave can muster is maybe one really funny one-liner an episode. His "comedy act" is absolutely horrible and if you pay attention, even the audience (even with the assistance of alcohol) usually doesn't laugh. If the producers are smart, they'd cut his stand-up and just have him wandering around the city (but, since Dave apparently won't do a weekly show anymore, I guess that won't happen).
Great show. I was sad to hear that it is over. Dave Attell said that he will only film specials, no more weekly show. Every episode was entertaining. One of the few bright spots on Comedy Central's dismal lineup. NEVER jumped the shark.
Insomniac hasn't jumped yet. Unfortunately, at the rate he's going, Dave Attell will be dead from lung cancer or liver failure (or both!) in the not-too-distant future. Until then the show will continue to be one of the best reality shows around.
Think of it as the something the Travel Channel would offer after an all-night bender. Not only is Dave hilarious, but he really does justice to the cities he visits (even if he does make fun of some of the people sometimes). Being a "late-nighter" myself, I've actually found this show to be very informative and interesting, along with being drop-dead funny (and somewhat creepy sometimes...anyone remember the all-night stint riding with the "crime scene cleaner"?)
This show had the potential to jump during the early weeks. It made it one season, but when he went home at the end of the first season and did the "look at all of my pictures" montage I almost puked. Great standup - but ran out of jokes on the show.
