I lost all respect for Judge Judy when she dismissed a case involving a young woman who was suing because she developed cancer as the result of a pregnancy. JJ claimed that it was impossible and dismissed the case without bothering to check with a medical expert. It is indeed possible. It's called choriocarcinoma and it arises from retained placental tissue. If she is that arrogant that she thinks she knows everything, then how can anyone trust that her legal decisions are any more well informed. BTW - I don't know if the young woman had a legal case or not. I just know she wasn't allowed to present her case based on an arrogant, ignorant judge's whim.

Judge Judy is 100% better than any of the zillion other judges on television. I have a soft spot for judgemental old hags that tell stupid people that they're stupid. As long as there are idiots out there cosigning for their unemployed boyfriends/friends/cousins car & then reeling in shock because that car note never once got paid, Judge Judy will be shark free.

The reason she is "sharp and snappy" as the guest below so eloquently puts it, is because Judy Scheindlin is a mean ol' nasty. That's it, plain and simple. She needs to lose the attitude. She wants respect? She needs to give respect.

To the previous poster: I've never seen one in her hand or on her desk.

I suspect Judge Judy feels that "Power means never having to use a gavel."

Does anybody besides me notice that Judy almost never uses a gavel to quiet the crowd. She always says "SSSSHHHHHH!!!" I also heard people say that she is sharp and snappy because she really does care about people's well being and when people with brains and talents make these bad desicions and get into a huge mess, makes her disapointed. I agree with that. She is also very nice and lovely when she is away from the courtroom.

I agree with GWB. God gave Judge Judy the right, nay, the RESPONSIBILITY to put the jackals in their place. It is her moral duty to make these degenerates understand that there is a higher class of people than them...it's not even correct to call them 'people' because they are lower than that. The slime that cower before her bench are not worthy of her respect and that is why she treats them as the dreck that they are.

I agree with GWB that these animals need to be put away in a cage for life instead of being given the paltry little fines that Judge Judy is restricted to giving them. They don't deserve to be in our communities polluting our decent God-fearing respectable children.

Long live Judge Judy! I wish Judge Judy could rule over all of our country!

Judge Judy's smug superiority is what makes her so great and wonderful. We are worlds apart from the trash that drags itself in front of her bench, and she simply makes them very aware of that fact. If a verbal dressing down in front of millions of TV viewers is all that it takes to get these swine to open their eyes to the fact that they are swine, then so much the better. Most of them will end up in prison, fortunately. That's where they actually belong, safely locked away from civilized society.

I'm sorry, I mistyped. Here is what I meant to say in my previous post:

I hate "Judge" Judy and her antics and "yes" I do have many hidden psychological "traits" to enjoy the dressing down that she sometimes hands out.

We cannot compare small claims court to Superior Court in procedure, rules of evidense and protocol; after all small claims is based in "King Solomon's Court".

Judge Judy is a rude, sniveling jerk of a human being who needs to get over herself and learn to play nice. How much of her attitude is an act for the show, and how much is her real personality? Scary....

Scheindlin dispenses nothing except her abusive vitriol. "Justice?" She doesn't care about "justice..." her decisions are based purely on her like/dislike for a contestant and on which one disgusts her less. She has extremely poor listening skills and often refuses to look at evidence simply because the contestant pissed her off by having the audacity to speak before being spoken to.

Scheindlin has no patience for ANYONE and turns every contestant good or bad into part of the axis of evil in her mind. She doesn't use the legal system as a guide -- she only tries to hide behind it when it is convenient to hide the fact that she bases her decisions completely on personal indulgence. She wouldn't know real legal theory if it bit her on her bum.

Scheindlin is an unconscionable, unprofessional, unethical hack who appeals to that segment of the population that needs a daily boost of their self-esteem. Her audience tunes in to watch these poor slobs being given a come-uppance because they need to feel better than someone else. It's a disgusting show hosted by a disgusting woman.

She also has absolutely no patience for the slightest hesitation of innocent victims and their witnesses.

I think that "Judge Judy" is terrific. She dispenses justice fairly and has absolutely no patience for idiots, scammers, liars, and parasites. Those who think she's mean, nasty, etc. don't understand that she's doing a job by resolving conflicts using the legal system as a guide and isn't trying to make people feel good about themselves. You want that? Go watch "Dr. Phil."

Judy Scheindlin does not deserve the title of "Judge" for the vile screed she yells from behind her bench. She is nothing more than a hate-filled provocateur intent on creating celebrity for herself by stomping on and squishing the life out of anyone who dares enter her studio. Yes, the majority of the people who appear on the show are complete idiots who typically don't deserve the few piddly dollars they receive for appearing, but no one deserves the kind of vitriol she spews.

Shows like this were the predecessor for new shows like Moment of Truth... the audience is made up of nothing but rubberneckers with low self-esteem wanting to think of themselves as better than someone else. They cheer Scheindlin on because they need a psychological whipping boy and these poor clods fit the bill perfectly.

She's a disgrace.
