Never Jumped
The fourth season
Troy Miller leaves
Shark Bytes
i don't know if mr show ever jumped the shark, but imo "sad songs are natures onions" is the worst episode. it's the one with the bald space/future kid with the fake voice.
i also think that the first season was MUCH funnier than the fourth season.

If you think Mr. Show jumped the shark, you should have to wear the Bloody Diaper! This is probably one of the top-5 sketch comedy shows of all time. HBO ignoring this show allowed them to push the envelope in relative obscurity. Sure, it got canceled too soon, but the flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long...
This show is deserving of all and any accolades heaped upon it. I really used to look forward to Friday nights during its run in the 90's. No sharks jumped or even approached.
Like anything smart, it was destined to reach a limited audience. As the others leaving comments here would attest, it was a brilliant detour from tired, unfunny contemporary sketch comedy shows. (the bloated, yawn inducing latter SNL productions)
Still holds up better than anything out there, almost 10 years after they took a bow.

i was pretty late on this one as i'm too poor to have any premium channels, but i knew everything line for line before ever actually seeing an episode on dvd just from my friends in the know reciting them and barely being able to keep myself composed then. forget about finally seeing the actual episodes. my favorite is hands down the competing super markets smear campaign commercials against eachother. "we will issue these three golden promises. golden promise number 1. our stores aren't constantly on fire. golden promise number two homeless people don't deficate in our aisles. and golden promise number three your child will not be kidnapped from our store and sold into a life of homoerortic servitude"
Never jumped, and the DVD collections have wall-to-wall commentary tracks that illustrate why. Give them a listen and here's what you'll find: Like the other great and lasting North American sketch comedy series (SCTV), these people weren't just collaboarators, they were FRIENDS. They played it like a team, laughed at each other's jokes, and new how to make a good thing better and better. It's Pumpkininny! (I can't believe i said that!)
The couple of Tom Kenny and Jill Talley doing the HAIL SATAN Televanelist thing WAS GOLD.
This show NEVER JUMPED and TOM KENNY made the show WORTH WATCHING.

I liked "Run, Ronnie, Run". And, yes, Tom Kenny leaving is a shame. Still...
Not only didn't "Mr. Show" jump any shark... It didn't jump EVERY shark!
This show is still underrated, as a default of its pure, incomparable, uncompromising awesome...
classic...

Never jumped, It was a sad day when I found out that there would be no more Mr. Show (oooh I'm melting). I dropped my bong. It seems like anything that's intelligent, witty, and worth watching gets canceled while garbage like 'Mind of Mencia' stays on forever. You can add Lucky Louie to the list of greats, too. It was awesome and now--gone. But hey, Larry the Cable guy's telling way funnier and more original fart jokes about his made up redneck family. Let's watch...
Never jumped. MR. SHOW is the funniest sketch show I've seen because it was way smarter and better than the shows running that time. I never seen it in its original run, but I bought the DVDs and I love the sketches.
Never jumped, it's one of the best sketch comedies in the history of the genre. It's brevity probably worked in it's favor because sooner or later it would have jumped - things were spinning out of control from the first show that's what made it great.
