Out of all the TV shows I watch anymore, this one is about the only one that I feel like is actually getting better with age. I loved the Agent Lee storyline...even though a sad ending, I really thought the entire storyline was handled very well. I like the new director much better than Jenny Shepard. This season so far has been very good, IMO...I really hope the current cast stays intact for a long time (although I agree 100% with Guest's comment regarding Tony), because I think they have something very special going on here.
Still love NCIS, only beef with it is Tony's character, seemed to be getting a new dimension, then the whole split with the Jeanne Benoit and he's back to being the guy you avoid in the office (or report for sexual harassment if female), almost like he's rehearsing for the role in the next Batman/Dark Knight Film as the Riddler (really tired of Tony's character being what it is).
Cheese E. Biscuit is incorrect. Abby and the others are not in the Navy. They are federal employees who happen to work for the department of the Navy. Depending on where you work and what your job is, the federal govt. is fairly relaxed as far as dress code. And I would assume that she is good at what she does which is why she is cut some slack as far as her dress goes. Lastly, govt workers are not required to cover or hide tatoos and piercings.
THAT pierced tatooed pigtailed lab assistant isn't an assistant, she IS the Lab. In real life, she majored in forensics and knows her stuff. The goth look is why I watch, because she's not just another boring character without personality. I'd rather work with one Abbey Schiuto than ten Ryan Wolfes.
I am an addict for NCIS. LOVE it LOVE it LOVE it! The ONLY thing I watch as I have little time for TV. But I will admit that I just started watching in 08 because I don't watch TV often...I went out and bought the first 4 season on DVD so I could know where they came from. Best entertainment investment I've made in some time. I love the writers linking one episode to the next with the story lines. Not every one can be award winning, but that just makes the great ones that much better. I have been in law enforcement for 10 years (investigating sex cases) and married to a 20 year (now retired) homicide det/SWAT officer...I will say what you see is light compared to the sick twists that are really out there. I also hated to see Kate killed off, but life happens that way sometimnes...you just hope you go home at the end of the 8. Same with the Director, Next! I Love Abby and the relationship between she and Gibbs! (Like a child showing the outdated parent how to go New School but knows old school is due respect) Good Stuff.
I hope you keep it going and step out of the box with different cases.
Tuned in once to see David McCallum. The pierced tatooed pigtailed lab assistant makes me want to puke. I changed the channel.
one of the best shows I've ever watch on tv. Love it

NCIS is on my list mainly due to Mark Harmond as Gibbs. No nonsense investigator that dosen't waste 45 minutes of the program in discussions with his staff. He is the boss and he gives the orders. Anthony Dinoso is quite tiresome at times with is constant stupid remaarks about women but the writers do have him being a smart and good agent in the long run. As for the navy not haveing any Goths in the service. No one ever said that Abby was a salior (as if saliors never have tats lol). She like Duckie could be cilvian contractors as most Navy personnel did not join to be in an office. She adds some flair to the program just as Duckie does.
I believe this show is entertaining, but the fact is: if you desire to work for the U.S.Navy, you would remove your visible tatoos and leave your dog collar and 6-inch dominatrix heels at home: if Abby showed up at ANY given naval base, she'd either be mistaken for the evenings bachelor party entertainment or they would call security on her. NO ONE would be employed by the Navy who dresses in such a fashion. Proof that Goth fashion has jumped the shark. However, show Ziva in a bikini again and I guarantee I'll be watching....
NCIS jumped when everyone started calling the Director "Jenny". She went from being the boss to the office's little pet kitten, and to compensate for stripping her of gravitas and authority, the writers started injecting what they probably imagined was "sizzle" into her interactions with the men - lots of nose-to-nose staring contests. It's the same rot that set in eventually with M*A*S*H* when "Hot Lips" switched over to "Margaret" - everyone want to be loved and on the inside, and no one wants the role of the enforcer or the heavy.

Then Buffalo Bill kept turning up - Gibbs's old boss - and the whole thing became a total bore.
If I may, I respectfully request to efface my earlier "JTS" vote for "NCIS." Indeed, after viewing this evening's (23 Sept. 08) installment, I must admit that "NCIS" has dramatically redeemed itself.
The intrigue (for a TV series) had me listening to and watching the good script and acting without wishing for a commercial break to "fast forward" through to expedite the show's eventual end.
Perhaps I was the only viewer in the country surprised by the ending, but it worked for me.
Keep it up. "NCIS" justed moved to the head of my personal "must see" list for TV series.
Too bad that I can't say the same thing for yesterday's season premier of "CSI Miami." That series DEFINITELY has "JTS."
I have to say that I came to NCIS late. I started watching just before Kate was killed and was so intrigued that I had to keep watching. Abby, for me, makes the show. When I grow up, I want to be just like Abby.
Naval Pride:

NCIS gets terrfic ratings, one of the top shows every week. If that isn't impressive enough, it even holds its own and keeps much of its viewers when it's against American Idol.

You may not like it, but I love it, and apparently so does about 14 million others that watch it every week.
