Just jumped it for me a few minutes ago when they pulled up to a fire and started ogling a volkswagon and talking about the number of airbags it had. product placement down your throat..

Love the attitude of this show. Finally a drama/comedy that tells it from a guys point of view. I am so sick of all the feminine males on tv these days. You can't say this, you can't say that, for if you do, a woman will get angry. "Oh my god! What did you say?!!"

That's what makes Rescue Me so great. The guts to say anything. This would never fly on a network channel. Thank God for cable.

Jumped when Tommy's sister got caught with Tommy's dope.

I love the firehouse humor and the show pushing the limits to be non-PC. It hasn't JTS but the problem is more that the show is inconsistent. Plot devices come and go, subplots come and go, some of them like Tommy's religious visions a distraction that add nothing to the show, and others like Laura Miles an annoying token concession to PC on a show that seems to pride itself in not being PC. Still on the whole, a good show and addictive.

Too late for another season for me, I have moved onto other things. I'm not getting involved with any other shows from FX again. First Over There now Rescue Me. Screw it.

Theres going a new season starting in July

Is there even going to be another season. I contacted fx network and never heard back. Does anyone out there know?????

Ok what the hell are you people whining about?!?!?! It was a solid 13 episodes that played through like life does. Maybe just maybe answers will be given in...the next season!!!! Have some faith in the show or just don't watch it! Denis, Peter and Evan did a great job this season of setting things up for the next season. As for the women issue have you ever stopped to think that maybe the women were acting in response to the dysfuntional men in their lives?!??! As for all you people who seemingly condemn Denis for the Tommy character shut up! It's not ego, it's a character on a tv show, a show that you all continue to watch! The show is smart, funny, emotional and rivetting. It pulls you back for the next episode everytime. I can't wait for the next season to see how Tommy reacts to his fathers death (maybe this season was a segway into a massive relapse in season 5) Tommy was a shadow of his former self this season but he is still 10x's more interesting than most of the other stereotypical characters written in predictable american dramas. Congrats to Denis and Peter and shame on all you people who have turned your backs, you should be ashamed. Go watch desperate housewives! Rescue me Season 5!!!!!!

Show has slowly been skiing downhill to the waiting shark since the first season. I did enjoy the first season. I enjoyed the firehouse humor, and realism of a dangerous job. The ghosts were a nice touch, and Tommy's struggle with himself, all well done. When the over-blond Tommy became the love machine that no woman could keep their hands off of (Denis Leary co writes....NO you could never tell!! <sarcasm>. Is when the skiing downhill picked up speed. I wonder if there is a single woman with a working brain on this show, or are they all silly, slutty and backstabbing? Or is the sole purpose of their existance to be the next one in line to have a go with Tommy? Denis should go back to all the comedic Elizabeth Hurley movies. PS- Kudos to the poster that said "didn't just jump the shark, but Denis Leary slept with it." (something to that effect)

This jumped the shark when I started watching the show - the third season. Everything's so contrived - the finale ends with his brother getting shot? Then the long-lost deaf sister shows up at the funeral which becomes an impromptu wedding? Those are just a few things off the top of my head, it just seems with this show that it tries WAY too hard to be hip and Sopranos-like instead of showing actual firefighting.

So when will Ted McGinley transfer in to the firehouse? This show's been done since Connor got killed, though some might argue that it had a redeeming moment or two afterward. Sure, why not.

But seriously, the shark was jumped LONG ago, and this is the pathetic downward spiral of a once awesome program. It's trying to extend its 15 minutes of fame into something like 2 hours, and it's become about as entertaining as a saltine enema.

Show over, Denis.....been over for a long time. Go back to stand up.

Don't people understand Great Script writing when they see it??? Just because there aren't any BIG explosions that doesn't mean the show is not good. This show deals with humanity, PERIOD. Yeah, it was disappointing to see the chief and Tommy's brother die but isn't that life? Do you know when and how someone you care about it going to die? I bet not. Denis is probably the only person who has the guts to deal with touchy, non-PC, subjects head on, ie. addiction, racisim, sexism. Denis has some BALLS and I can't wait to see the next season!!! APPLAUSE to Denis on the last scene of the last season. The passing of his "Dad" during the baseball game. Now that conversation between Tommy and his Dad was reality television!

haven't seen the last season. hearing these comments i don't know it i want to.
because, up to that, i'd argue with anyone that this is as good as a show as the best ever.
and no show ever can take you seamlessly from spit-coffee funny to light-up-a-smoke heavy in the space of a couple of scenes.

this show really jumped the shark with the addition of black sean. all of a sudden it's about basketball. then tommy is no good at hockey but black sean is better than him. there were a few funny moments, but when they ended the season with tommy's daughter dating black sean that was too much. it's as if they created black sean just to do everything better than tommy and be the antihero.tommy's arch nemisis ends up with his daughter. come on. too much already!

i think they should call this show jumping a whale shark. sean not funny, franko not cool, lu not lu, tommy being written as way to cool, to much product placement i understand vitamin water but all the other stuff too. killing off tommys brother that guy was good for the show uncle teddy not funny, tatum oneal stupid, probie to much baggage baisicaly all the stuff we liked about the show is gone. so i will be too
