I still think it's so sad Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered. She was such a hottie and probably would have had a long career in Hollywood, despite the lame show "My Sister Sam".
I've seen the same thing happen on other JtS pages. Some shows have reasons listed that have nothing at all to do with the show itself -- case in point is the Addams Family. They have 'The New Addams Family' and 'The Movie' listed as reasons for the show to have jumped. Both of those took place twenty-five years or more later, long after the original show had gone out of production. And yet, they were supposedly the cause of the original show jumping the shark? Come on, now.... at least make an effort at being a little bit intelligent.

The reasons for a show to jump the shark need to be something that happened while the show was still in production.
Death of RS makes MSS JTS? Come on! The show was off before she died.

People are voting the same way on Hogan's Heroes! Bob Crane died 7 years after the end of the show!

Not understanding how something that happens after a show's run can make a JTS moment!?!?
I do have a sense of humor, but to make a joke involving the death of this innocent girl is pathetic. You loser.
My Sister Sam was a mediocre show from the beginning.
I believe the death of Rebecca Schaeffer caused the early jump:(

This show was cancelled in 1988 and Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered in 1989. Her death did not cause the end of this show.
This show has be re-invented , It Stars Amanda Bynes and is Called " what I Like about you " on WB OR you could say "What I like about you " stole their Idea from "my sister sam"
The show was already long gone when the younger co-star was murdered. It wasn't ever great just average.
Making fun of a young girls murder shows three things: 1. You are sick and need to be institutionalized. 2. You aren't funny. 3. You are wasting air that decent people could be breathing.
My Sister Sam had all the makings of a great show. First off, it had a notable cast in Pam Dawber, Jenny O'Hara, Joel Brooks, and David Naughton. All who were sitcom veterans. Add a fresh new face in Rebecca Schaeffer and the production wizardry of Diane English, and it made a fun show. That's all, nothing else. It never tried to be anything but. Schaeffer showed that she had good comic timing and a possible future in movies and television. Sadly, the was all cut short when she was stalked and killed by an obsessed fan. And I have to agree that she was killed after the show was cancelled, not while the show ran. Cancellation came by a lot of factors such as Dawber's pregnancy and bad time slots (The second season, they were placed on Saturday and the show went on hiatus and was eventually cancelled). My sister used to love the theme song and we used to watch the reruns all the time. It was a good show. I'm glad to see it's back in reruns.
To whoever said "death", the show had already been off the air for a while before Rebecca Shaefer was killed. The show only lasted two seasons. It was just a fluffy, cute sitcom, but in the second season, Pam Dawber was pregnant, which they shot around, awkwardly, and everyone sort of went through the motions, and the network didn't renew it. End of story.
My Sister Sam was a 'fun' show, no more-no less. The characters were funny, the story lines good. The thing that made this show JTS was the horrible shifting of its time-slots. The show must have been shifted 5 times and interrupted about as much. In it's first showing it was near the top ten...then the network put its fingers into it and it lost its audience. Rebecca Schaeffer was an up and coming actress who added personality, excellent acting to the show and worked well with Pam Dawber. Rebecca, we miss you and thank you for entertaining us.
I absolutely LOVED this show.....it was my favorite!! It was extremely well written and well acted----I just loved it and am still mourning the loss of Rebecca Schaeffer....she was adorable and I would LOVE to see this show in syndication someday......
