I am a hardcore Superman, if there is a Superman DVD out I have it. I collect every possible piece of memorbila I can lay my hands on. I love Smallville. But in every written and rewitten Superman Continiuty when Clark starts at the Dailt Planet within days Superman is seen soaring over metroplolis, this bugs me and do not get me started on jimmy olsen, cyborg and impulse being the same age as Clark. GET HIM FLYING ALREADY!!!!!
After i finished theSmallville seasons 1-7 DVD Box Set which i bought from DVDSETPRO. I got a question
why Lana should be with Clark? You know, I used to be a Clana shipper when the show came out. I always wanted them to be together. But, I knew that the pair would end after Clark leaves SV. And then when I saw that pic on WB for the 100th episode, I said, boy, Clark just won't quit will he? Hey, in my opinion Lois will if not now, BE WITH CLARK. I just want reasons as to why you ppl support the Clana ship.

I get a little sick of the one-upsmanship to try to keep things fresh, because it doesn't work. I remember seeing Clark depressed about being the only Kryptonian left, and now it seems that over half the planet survived. I remember the episode with Lex's half brother Lucas, a couple seasons later having Clark ask him if he ever wished he had a brother as if the Lucas episode never occurred, and then a couple seasons after his brother Julian is alive too?! And there's only so many relics and artifacts and crystals you can introduce before it gets a little ridiculous and redundant. And for 8 seasons now, partially due to the writing and partially due to acting, characters trying to hide something come across as overly and unnecessarily obvious. I'd say I "jumped" officially with the 100th episode where Clark gets to redo a day and have someone else die; that was just silly. I was a little fed up before that, and I continued to watch through season 7 but with much, much lower expectations. Overall, it'll go down as one of my favorite shows, as I watched loyally from season two to about halfway through season five, and casually after. I'm glad they bent and broke some of the rules to make the show itself better, but it has many flaws.
"Too much fawning over Lana" shouldn't be given as a reason why Smallville has jumped the shark. To "jump the shark" means to do something bizarre or out of step to pull in viewers (think Bobby Ewing appearing in the shower after being "dead" for months in Dallas). Therefore doing too much of anything is the opposite of jumping the shark.
I think the main problem with Smallville is that it has gone on far too long. The writers have introduced Clark to characters he never should have met in Smallville, like Jimmy and Lois. He's also already defeated half of Krypton so there won't be anyone left to fight by the time he does become Superman.
There's occasionally still good story-lines so it hasn't jumped the shark in the traditional sense. It has just gone on too long and doesn't really fit into the rest of the Superman story.
Having said that the episodes that were just an excuse to advertise chewing gum and phones almost turned me off watching.

I have religiously watched this show for years, however, I have to say that I'm really starting to get frustrated and bored with it for two main reasons: 1) Clark/Superman's reluctance to embrace his superhero role/destiny is inexplicable at this point i.e. they are dragging out the pre-superman stage too long. 2) I understand the need to make Clark/Superman vulnerable to facilitate plots, but, please...the meteor rock/kryptonite appears anywhere and everywhere...it's ridiculous - the meteor rock/kryptonite falling out of his own personal stash box in the most recent episode was a particularly egregious plot device
Show's been getting progressively worse each season and after Lex and Lionel left, there's little reason left to watch it. In season 8, they're just randomly picking characters from the DC universe and slaughtering them. Look what they did with Maxima and Doomsday, turning them into lovesick creatures from the black lagoon, it's offensive to the fans how they butcher these great characters. The acting's bad, but it's not like there's a lot of scope for the actors to shine because the storylines are bad. They should just stop this show now, it's embarrassing.
Smallville was my show seasons 1-6. The 7th season started to make the show fail. When Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) & Kristen Kreuk (Lana) left after the 7th season, all I could say for Smallville's newest season is UGH! Davis & Tess need to disappear. It is starting to get ok but I think it's too late for a ninth season. Trying to bring Lana back for the special was an attempt...too late.
Trying to keep this short, but failed again...
Finally back from the phantom zone. (Who names these things, anyway?)
You know I had to make at least a midseason appearance. Oh, where to start?
First, something that's been bugging me for a while. Metropolis is (allegedly) a 2 hour drive away from Smallville, yet Jimmy, Lois, Tess and Clark haven't thought to carpool. (They could all easily fit in Clark's red four door Dodge Ram (seen earlier this season) with its 14 mpg. Practical.)
- Speaking of Tess- one of the hotter women that has been on the show recently. Anyone who knows me knows that I love the redheads. Next time she has an itch to scratch...
- Maxima wasn't bad, either.
- The writers loved that episode. "How could we explain where Maxima came from? We'll have Chloe do it for us, since she now knows everything!" Even Clark couldn't believe that plot. Just look at his face.
- Never thought Lois was that attractive. Pretty, yes. But she never looked better than she did at the Olsen wedding in that tangerine dress. (Even when she was a stripper in that one episode).
- Show isn't quite the same without our boy Alexander (Lex) Luthor.
- Seems the writers listened to us. More Green Arrow/Oliver, less Lana.
- And apparently, less Kara.
- Lana and Clark conversing in the barn certainly slowed the show down. She's kind of unnecessary at this point.
- But nice to look at.
- Latest Smallville regular to have powers: Lois (and to a lesser extent, Davis, if you could consider him a regular.)
- Left out: James Olsen.
- My memory isn't what it used to be: Did Chloe's father die? Or out of town?
Only asking since Clark had to give her away.
- Where was Pete for the wedding?
- Newest olympic event: Tire throw. Current record holder: Clark "Man of
Steel" Kent.
- Loved when Chloe was losing her memory and they showed the young Chloe and Clark hanging out in the barn.
To be continued...

Ok to all of you idiots out there who keep whining about Clark not flying SHUT UP. The day Clark flies is the day the show is over. This show was about him becoming Superman and im sure the final battle with Doomsday will be worth the wait of him flying. The major problem Superman always had was that he had too many powers and could defeat basically anyone. The only way these writers can keep this thing completely sane is by trying to limit his powers to the point where him getting into trouble doesn't seem "ridiculous". There are a lot of villians where if Clark could fly they would have had no chance. Stop whining relax its worth the wait.
the tru reason I'm only watchin Smallville is the fact that I've been watchin it from Day 1, so I'm toughing it out. Now that I said that, lets review somethings
Lana being gone... GOOD!!! it was definitely time she moved on, too much hovering over her.
Lois and Jimmy were brought in way too early, too early for their own good. At least wait a while, like a few more years until they show up.
Clark isn't flying yet, WUT THE ****??? I know they established the "no tights no flight" rule in the beginnings, but he's already done it a few times (albeit as Kal El and Bizarro) and its time for him to get soaring, even Chloe ripped him about it.
Which brings me to Chloe, probably the only Saving Grace of the show. She's probably had more **** happen to her then everyone else, and I would definitely take her over Lana (in a heartbeat) She puts up with mad ****, and I'm glad she is actually puttin Clark in his place. Somethin kara didn't do, which is probably she got written out the show within one season... sad.
I don't really have a set opinion on the new season, and I'm not really good at deciding whether a show has JTS, but I will say that if the writers don't figure out something soon, they might as well call the 8th season the Final season.
Oh yea, let Brainiac out already. We need his diabolical genius at work.

At this point, Smallville's only redeeming feature is Allison Mack. Granted, this is a pretty big redeeming feature.
Ok. To me the shows alright, but I think it jumped the shark when it became too much about Lex and Lana and how they're having marriage issues. I mean COME ON! Lana annoys the crap out of me and the sooner they kill her off, the better.
P.S. No wonder she was dead in the comics.

While there were good first season episodes, over all it is better to forget the first season. Monster of the week and not all that good. I thought the show was not going to be something worth watching. The second season fixed much of the problems and seasons 2 - 4 were quite enjoyable. Seasons 5 and 6 stumbled and would be were I think it jump the shark. However, things turned around in season 7 and now season 8 is definitely the best season of the series as it aligns itself with the legend but not completely so you're not absolutely sure what will happen next. Not sure how often a show recovers from jumping the shark. Not sure what the plans are for the show, but I hope the last show of the series ends with Clark putting on the costume. Doing it sooner would turn this into a remake of Lois and Clark and not doing it at all would be like telling a joke and stopping before you get to the punch line.
I tried to watch this show for a couple of seasons, I really did. It came down to me forcing myself to watch one whole season and then forgetting about it all together.
The show jumped when Clark landed in what he thought was Smallville, but was actually Dawson's Creek. He figured that was a good a place as any and assimilated himself into it. So now we're stuck with a mediocre "man of steel" who can't fly, but has his "super whining" power!
"Whiner than a kid in a toy store, able to get his ass kicked and whine to Lana afterward in a single bound, less powerful than any meteor freak on the planet, he's.......Superman?"
Lana sucks
Kara sucks
Lois sucks
Jimmy sucks (secret agent dream, give me a f---king break)
More people suck, I just can't think of them right now.
Please, let this show die before the history of superman is destroyed any further.

Smallville jumped after the 3rd season. Same rehashed stories over and over and over again. Lana was reincarnated from a witch? Seemed Smallville was trying to gear towards the teen audience, with excessice skin showing and hints and lesbianism. No self respecting comic book dork could take that seriously. The whole point of Smallville was the anticipation of tensions between Clark and Lex, and the building up to their split and rivalry. Now Lex isn;t even on the show anymore, so there is absolutely no point in watching it.
