I've found 2 more ways the Meredith-hosted 'Millionaire' JTSed. First, she used the word 'Oi,' when she got disgusted when the player lost. I checked her on Wikipedia, she's not Jewish, or Yiddish. Second, she kept the player in suspense durin' the commercial break as to whether he got it right or wrong I so hated that! So far, she doesn't do that 2nd one in this season. Peace.
To tell ya the truth, 'Millionaire,' with Meredith hostin' JTSed in her 1st season. She started sayin','Computer, please RANDOMLY take away 2 of the wrong answers...' Of COURSE, it's random! She should stop sayin' 'Randomly,' 'cause the players KNOW that by now. Peace.
Thank God they finally put a timer on the answers! I hated watching the contestants babble on about how they knew something and taking forever to answer. It's a game show for goodness sake--answer the question! Now the show moves along like it should.
I've found 2 more ways the syndicated version of 'Millionaire' has JTSed. First, the sound effects buzzer when the phone call's done, now sounds 3 times, as opposed to 2, when Regis hosted the show in primetime. Second, with the phone-a-friends, their last names aren't given out. C'mon, Michael Davies! Nobody's gonna try to contact these folks if their last names were given out! So, please give us the last names of the friends on the phone-a-friend feature. Peace
Actually, Meredith herself is the reason that 'Millionaire' jumped. She pronounces 'ee-ther' and 'nee-ther' the other way. That's not a representative samplin' of all of America. I've always pronounced 'ee-ther and 'nee-ther' that way. Peace
IMHO, 'Millionaire' has long since JTSed since 2003, when not a single person has won the million on the syndicated version. C'mon, Michael Davies! Make the questions easier for the folks to win! Peace.
This was fun when Regis hosted it and it was on once a week. It then became saturated when ti went to the half hour format and Merideth hosted it.
This site is crazy :)
The game clock format on Millionaire will soon be adopted on another quiz show, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?. Bet on it!
'Millionaire' has now JTSed with the introduction of the game clock. I say, let the contestants take as much time as they dang well wanted to. Don't put any time constraints on 'em. Peace.
i love Millionaire especially the Meredith Vieira version the only problem i have with this show is when the contestants use the phone a friend lifeline and spend like 10 stinken seconds trying to spell out a word to the friend and then their friend has no time to answer and they are screwed do these contestants not realize they only have 30 seconds for these questions and shouldnt be spending 10 seconds out of 30 to try and spell out a word because they think their friend cant spell and they wonder why they dont get the question or they are forced to walk away because their phone a friend couldnt help because they spent 10 seconds trying to spell out a word instead of reading the question and the answers first its so retarded why this happens also doesnt it seem like more people now are walking away at $16,000 maybe they should change the game's title to Who Wants to Win only $16,000 and not guess on the $25,000 question
I hear that this new upcoming season will not feature Tom Bergeron as the new host, but the format's being changed. The first change would be a clock for questions. The first 5 question would give you 15 seconds, then the next 5 would give you 30 seconds, the next 4 would give you 45 seconds and on the million-dollar, you would be given 45 seconds plus any unused time from those last 14 questions.

The next change would be two new lifelines. They are getting rid of two lifelines, 50:50 and Switch-the-Question and replacing them with Ask the Expert and Double Dip. Among the experts of Ask-the-Expert would be Bill Nye (Airing Sep. 8-12) and Ogi Ogas, $500,000 Winner (Airing Sep. 15-19). The expert would be revealed after the $1,000 question is answered correctly. The Double Dip is taken from "Super Millionaire" and it gives the contestant the oppurtunity to answer twice (As you probably know from watching Super Millionaire").

Another change to look for would be a "Millionaire Menu", in which the contestants will get to see what their categories will be, so they would know what's coming to them. And so the viewers could play along, they'll also see what's coming so that they can probably answer the questions.

So look for these new changes next month on "Millionaire".
What is with all of the "Best of Meredith" shows? I thought they would have been exiled to GSN before now. Is the show even still in production? Or is it on hiatus because Meredith Vieira is in China covering the games and Tom Bergeron has not yet been approached about replacing her?
"Millionaire" JTS when the producers of the daily version opted to do away with the "fastest finger" round and the prior rigorous testing of the participants- instead going for "personalities" via interviews. This assures that most hopefuls with any semblance of intelligence will not be on air. I think a large part of the original's success was the ascension up the money ladder that many players accomplished, usually with some panache.

So what do we have today? A bland mess, with hyper-coy Meredith bantering with a bunch of dolts. I agree with others' observations that there is too much appaluase and staged drama, along with way too many contestants who apparently have never cracked open a book or finished 9th grade- where do they find these people, and why do they think anyone is interested in watching them suffer on the simplest questions?

Meanwhile, my coworkers have this on EVERY DAY and I can't escape it. OH NOOOOOOO
I think the Meredith version jumped the shark when this contestant had to burn up 2 lifelines to figure out a damn thinking question! Everybody knows the seven dwarfs' names; just figure out how many of their names don't end in a "y"! Back when Regis did the show, the contestant got through the question just fine without any lifelines, but with Meredith... heh.
