My favorite show! Joe and Brian are me and my younger brother to a T! The show did miss Lowell. Alex was cute but annoying at times as was Casey. The core cast was great though. The actors had great timing and the writing was great for the most part. They made you want to be part of their little cozy lives on Nantucket (which I love). My favorite moment was the "I wish I could be more like you" exchange at the end of The Story Of Joe.
casey sucked, she was funny only in Robin Hood Men in Tights. other than that, great show and Roy Biggins is one of the greatest TV characters of all time. To this day my family and I still channel Wings when we talk about an upcoming event and getting "THE BIG SANDWICH"
"Wings" never jumped. A turning point may have been when Lowell left, but the series continued strong. Another poster hit it right on the head...this show was so good, it made you want to climb inside the TV and sit at Helen's lunch counter and chat with the cast. The key to this show was "likeable characters."
Great show that could have jumped in the first few episodes but was picked up long enough to develop into something memorable.

It took a few episodes for this cast to blend together but against the odds they did it. Witty, smart, laugh out loud funny show that never strayed from what made it so good.

Never Jumped!
Wings was a great sitcom with wonderful charactors that could keep each new season fresh. The taxi driver (now monk) along with roy biggins and lowell the machanic were super. The best thing about wings (unlike seinfeld) was the last episode. They simplly could not of ended this sitcom better. NEVR JUMPED
Day One. This show was awful, one giant sitcom cliche after another. Terrible.
Never jumped. One of the best sitcoms of the 1990's. It's a shame it never got the recognition it deserved.

About Wings being Cheers II, I have to admit, I'm one of the people who never got the appeal of Cheers. However, Wings is #3 on my list of all-time favorite shows and it's also high on my extended family's collective list of favorites.
I have season 1-5 on DVD and never get tired of them.
When Wings was on syndycation on USA in the early 90's and still on the air on Network TV too, it helped me get through a tough break up.
It was so funny and the characters so likeable that I got through my depression becasue of this show.
My favorite episode is when Brian thinks Faye is a Murder.
I laugh every time I watch it.
I almost wanna say never jumped. BUT...

I watched the show in its original run in the 1990s. Then I watched it again when it aired on Nick At Nite in 2003 (which I saw EVERY episode). And now I'm watching it again on USA. (which I am noticing are not airing every episode!)

As far as it jumping... I agree with everyone that says seasons 1-4 were the best. I didn't mind when Farrah Forke/Alex was added (added a new dynamic to the show). But I think it started to sink after Amy Yasbeck/Casey and Brian Haley/Budd joined, and Thomas Church/Lowell left, I think it started to go down hill. The story lines between Joe and Helen got too weird once they got back together and married, then it got too 'dramatic' for a comedy. Also the storylines just got a bit too convoluted toward the end too.

I just think after Season 4, they kinda ran out of story ideas, and needed to add fresh faces (Yasbeck, Forke, and Haley) to breath some life into it, which backfired in some way. I think they could have limp'd along another season (or possibly 2) on the original cast (plus Tony Shalhoub), without many changes.

So I'll say it never jumped, still one of my favorite shows to watch in reruns.
A funny thing about Wings was that it saturated USA Network in syndication. All of the good episodes were shown on that channel. I remember it cycling back to the beginning after Joe and Helen got married. USA showed the ideal time frame of Wings and ended it when it should have been cancelled.
The show was at it's best in season 1-4. 5-6 were also good but not as great as 1-4 were. And don't get me started on the last two seasons. I think it hit a subtle downward spirl starting with 5 which is because the original writers left to do Frasier.
This jumped when Helena nd Joe got married. That would have been the perfect series finale.
I really liked this show and thought it was at its best from the "pilot"(no pun intended) up until the point when Thomas Hayden Church left. His departure really signaled the end. I never understood why the writers/producers felt the need to add Helen's sister into the show, especially Amy Yasbeck. I never liked her or her character. But as I said before when Lowell left that changed everything and I knew it would never be the same.
Not one of the greatest sitcoms in history, but it was a good, solid comedy. With the exception of the final season, I can't think of one episode that I didn't enjoy watching. All of the characters, even Alex and Casey, were special and hysterical in their own way. The dialogue was usually funny and well-written. The cast really seemed like they were enjoying themselves and liked each other's company. I think people compared it to Cheers too much, which is a shame because Wings really was a great show in its own right.
Never jumped. Hilarious and one of the great cast emsembles ever. Loved the episodes where Lowell is living with the Hackett brothers, Helen working at the fish gutting job, Roy getting everyone to dig the hole in his backyard, the psycho prom episode (the lady was absolutely hysterical)....so many laugh out loud moments, and it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud at a TV show.
