It was a Mrs. Doubtfire ripoff
Never Jumped
Shark Bytes
I love the show its exciting to watch. I love all the charcters especially all Jureau, he's my baby. I love him!
There was one episode where the oldest brother discovers that he is a HALF BROTHER, and not a full brother to his siblings....through old letters his mother wrote to an old lover.
And yet somehow this fool doesn't notice that he is the only sepia- skinned child among a family of yellow-complexioned people, including the parents(from looking at their cliche fireplace mantle potrait).Even when he discovers this, the suggestion of having a different father from the smollets makes him conclude that he is not their real brother (ignoring the fact that they still share a mother.)
Boy, this show never jumped the shark. It's bloated body floated in the water waiting for a frenzy.

It was like all the other sitcoms durring that era. Family Matters, growing pains and full house remember the ugly olsen twins!!!
I loved this show from the beginning to the end. It never jumped, in my opinion, and I still miss the show.
On Our Own is a good show. I just got into it about a couple of weeks or so ago.For those of you who didn't know, it airs now on TV One at 5 am and 3 pm mondays-fridays. So if you are a fan check it out.
I think On our own is a good Tv show I think they all can act its funny too I wish they were still on air when they are acting now.
Lately I've had opportunity to see this show and I must say that it never "Jumped" because it never had opportunity to run. Like another poster said it simply had too many people. An ensemble cast is fine if they could all act. But unfortunately all of the Smollett kids couldn't act. And that apparent because where are they now? Only Jurnee is visable all these years later. Maybe if all were each as talented as Jurnee we would see them on TV or in movies. The oldest "real" brother was scary. His dress was that of a militant, while his actions screamed wimp. TV characters always come across better when the physical appearance fits the personality. And the older girl was so stiff and unrealistic she looked like a walking talking wax figure. As for the really little kids, what's worse than hearing little children speak but being unable to understand what it is they're saying. YUCK.
What's wrong with the show is there were too many kids in it,and they tried to get everyone, including the dog,in EVERY scene!!!Didn't work.Including a toddler who had nothing to say, they just showed him.
I loved the show, and me and my friends still talk about it,and wishing it was still on. It was a clean show that the whole family could watch. I can't think of a single show that is on right now that I can say that about.
Seriously, NEVER JUMPED?! I didn't really watch this show more than once, but I remember it being a little creepy. The oldest son dresses up like an old lady; some lecherous old social worker hits on him; and he has a very special speech for the photos of his dead parents at the end of the episode. How did the masses let this one slip away?
Come on guys!! this show NEVER jumped the shark!! it was great! it had michelle tanner's best friend on it! come on...the little girl that replaced teddy! haha no no seriously though...this show was great, but unfortunately NOBODY remembers it and they all look at me like i'm crazy when i talk about it
Truly, truly pathetic. I almost feel sorry for the kids that they cast simply because they were a large family of kids whose names all began with J. My most vivid memory is at the end of the first episode when the social worker told "Mama J" that she was on to him but that she wasn't going to rat them out. I'm amazed that an announcer didn't say "Tune in each week as the family gets into hilarious hijinx trying to remain independent!" or something like that. A disgrace.
Mrs. Doubtfire was a hilarious movie, and a tv version of it would probably do well. However, a rip-off tv version would not, and that's what On Our Own was. Put on TV just weeks after Mrs. D. finished its theater run, it starred a comedian as the oldest brother who dresses up like an old woman to fool social services into letting him keep his large family of brothers and sisters (played by the Smollet family). Also when crossdressing on tv jumped the shark.
