Again, another great show Comedy Central made a bad move by canceling. I never did see the first host of the show, I only saw Blaine, but there have been many moments where I've been on the floor laughing. I admit a lot of the questions are ridiculously easy, and a lot are just plain hard, but it's all fun, we watch to see 4 guys on a stage with no life (but look at me, I'm posting a bunch of comments that no one will honestly read) and to see the host burn the other contestants. Still Beat The Geeks never jumped and should be brought back.
For me this show jumped the shark with the questions. I know they always "tried to level the playing field" but it got totally ridiculous. I mean, the contestants question would be something like, "Who is in this photo? AND IT WOULD BE A PICTURE OF Steven Speilberg!!!.
Then the geek would get a question like,
"In the 30"s movie "A Day at the Races", what was the name of the horse that finished 4th in the 5th race.

I mean the disparity between the questiio difficulty for the geek vs the contestant was an absolute joke.
Loved BEAT THE GEEKS. Possibly my favorite game show ever. This is a show I really wanted to go on because there was very rarely a question I didn't know the answer to. The Television Geek would have been easy to beat, but the Movie Geek was very good and definitely would have been a challenge...but I still think I could have taken him. Great show that never jumped.
This show almost jumped the shark when a contestant managed to beat the Movie Geek in an elimination round by 20 points. Pathetic.
I initially thought the shark had benn jumped when Blaine became host, but he grew on me. Season 2 contestants seemed to be just too stupid though. It looked like they just pulled people out of the line to get in and said "hey wanna be one a show?" Also the backwoods, hillybilly looking, bad teeth having HIP HOP GEEK didn't help
I was actually one of the first contestants on the show. I was so spunky and funny at my audition (yes they make you audition for game shows even this weak) that they took me and this other girl off to the side and scheduled us right there. they had about 20 of us and they would make us get up and do stand up or test our "geekness". well let me just tell you i am a self proclaimed star trek geek myself, and was totally kicking ass. so of course i also thought that they would have their star trek geek as the geek of the day on my episode (also since no one ever challenges that one). um no. i had the freakin' hip hop geek. whatever. needless say i was cute and funny (hot black chick from boston in the periwinkle blue shirt season1), managed to get a geek medal or two, but alas all i won was a cheesy backpack from jansport. whateva. i think that any "game show" that does not give real cash, jumps the shark right out the gate. oh yeah and not that anyone cares, i was also on cardsharks('01), smush('01), and blind date(02). they made me look like a bitch, and tried to make me say something mean about my date at the end. when i refused they got him to say mean stuff about me. it was pretty messed up because i told him what they tried to make me do, he said they tried the same thing with him but that he was cool. turns out, he lied to my face. 6 months later when the show aired i found out he talked a lot of smack at the end by seeing it on the air. it was kinda f**ked up/ funny cuz all my friends and family called me in cali crackin' up. basically when i first moved out here i became a game show whore by going on every show. but hey, it's all practice for the price is right.
I think I jumped the shark about Beat the Geeks because I didn't think it was any good, especially Blaine. Like a bad fungus, the damn show grew on me. I like (!?) Blaine because reminds me of a couple of spazzy friends I grew up with who had big/smart mouths as well as brains and endured many a shit kicking at the hands of the jocks. Of the three regulars, I think that the TV Geek is the king because he's zen with his knowledge and putdowns. The 2nd Music Geek is pretty good as well, but lacks the zen of the TV Geek. I find the movie geek to be too much of a spaz for my liking and the guest geeks are generally annoying, particularly the Masturbation, uh, Playboy geek (BTW, if BTG wants to really go all out, why not a Porno Geek?) As a fellow geek, I say bravo to the Movie Geek (even if he's a spaz) if he's getting some trim from Tiff. Boy cut or not, she's smoking hot...
I don't understand why people don't LOVE this show! Ok, the questions for the contestants are too easy, but come on! Knowledge is way sexy - and so is the Music Geek with the long hair...someone please pick him more often!!!
Not Jump. Blaine is brilliant... took me a while to get him but he has to try so hard to be mean ... maaan, he's just brilliant. Andy, the 2nd music geek is by far my favourite, he's animated, he's got crazy hair, he knows his sh*t and he has great insults too. The format is improved now and while the questions could be tougher for the contestants the geeks get their share of stumpers.
This show hasn't jumped yet! I think it plays much better in Canada because we understand satire. Beat the Geeks is a hilarious parody of the whole game show genrea. From Blaine's horrible suits and insincere/obnoxious banter (Thaaannnks Tiffany!) to the geeks' ironic hairstyles, this show is just too hip for American audiences. BTW, I think Blaine Capatch is a total hottie (and believe me, I find this as disturbing as most of you will).
It NEVER jumped, not even the South Park geek (who WAS awful, the dorkiest person I have ever seen on TV) made it bad enough to cross the point of no return. Yes, Blaine is a spazz, but he's at least a funny spazz! This show has really grown on me, and I genuinely believe there is something going on with the Movie Geek and Tiffany. Way to go, Geek! An awesome show, which I hope stays on the air for a zillion years. Yes, the guest geeks are never up to snuff (although the Trek geek was pretty formidable) and they DO challenge the movie geek too much, but it is safe to say there is no show like this on the air. Hey, it's better than Battlebots (why the heck is that show on Comedy Central???)
Blane is way better then the other guy. He's got so much spunk! Everything he says is hilarious! TV geek is the coolest guy in the world, I'd love for him to come to my house and watch TV, it would be such an honor to see him action. People always think they can challenge the movie geek, the morons, the guy's brilliant. I found usually the special guest geeks are actually the WORST. I mean the Beatles geek didn't know what German city the Beatles played in at the start of their career! Hellllloooo have you seen Anthology, or read a book, or used your brain! Jeeze, what a moron. This show is improvong every day! The geeks are hilarious and would suck without their dorky hair and cocky attitudes.
I love this show... I've only been watching for a few months now - i never saw the first host but I enjoy Blaine, his mouth is enormous! The movie geek does that pyramid thing with his hand beside his buzzer... kinda strange. As soon as I started watching I knew a Star Trek geek had to appear sometime, and who did they get? the geekiest kid from that Trekkie movie... ha ha ha, how perfect. I enjoy all the guest geeks, the south park gal took herself too seriously and the other day they had the nudity geek on... NUDITY? waddafuck? that's pretty geeky even for a geek. Oh, alright, I admit it, I'm a girl who is disturbingly attracted to geeky guys... I wonder why that is?.....
I think the Playboy geek is such a LOSER. He stutters and stammers and forgets his lines. My personal favourites for guest geeks are the James Bond geek and The star trek geek. Besides for geeks they're cute.
In "Not Another Teen Movie," there's a musical number towards the end. In it, there's a diner chef character who, if he wasn't played by the TV Geek, looked EXACTLY like him. Freaky.
